  1. WOW. That's the type of swing someone gets demoted for. Baseball players usually don't do that.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 04:30 PM) Bottom of the 9th. Does Rally Crede do Spring Training? Rally Rogo might make an appearance. That's if we want any chance of winning in dramatic, sexy fashion.
  3. CSN had their homerun zoom on that out. Aardsma's lucky his hanging breaking ball isn't rolling out of the ballpark instead of being a flyout. Inning now over.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 04:19 PM) Either the CSN gun is slow, or our so called flamethrowers can't bring the heat. It has to be 2-3 mph off. Contreras didn't top 91 Masset didn't top 92 Sisco didn't top 93 Aardsma hasn't topped 93 QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) Either the CSN gun is slow, or our so called flamethrowers can't bring the heat. LOL, so in the first atbat we're seeing about half fastballs. Walk I meant 95% fastballs.........for strikes.
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) For the love of God, Aardsma, show something. Aawful in to extend the Angel's lead. I'm sure we'll see 95% fastballs.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) Count, Buehrle, Jon, Javy, Danks; Jenks, MMac, Thornton, Masset, Sisco, Logan I don't like the idea of three lefties, but we might just reward performance. Who knows. I personally believe the organization will select Haeger over Logan. With Danks, the coaching staff should take it rather easy with him and his development. No more than 100 pitches for a few months. Someone will need to be available for this, and any other starts where the pithers don't perform. I wouldn't be willing to waste the other arms to eat innings as I would Haeger.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) Is he the one who says "PASSION"? Because I've been trying to figure out who the hell that was all day. Yes. And those last two pitches from Sisco were major league quality. Great slider than a 92 (probably more) mph fastball.
  8. Sisco was just featured in White Sox commercial. Yeah, I just don't believe he's going to start the season at AAA.
  9. QUOTE(Wedge @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) How about The Porn Star (TPS for short) If Broadway were projected to be an ace it would probably work. We could say, "there's the money shot11!!" after striking out 10 batters. He'll just give porn starts a bad name. What I'm thinking is the nickname should be something about disappointment or failure. Masset sure has a strange delivery. Much different then what I expected. I don't know if I'd ever consider him a starter after watching this. His fastball doesn't appear to be blazing. Great curveball, though.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) I'm loving the spring training nicknames we got going. Grinderstad, AAAnderson...what's next? Gavin Pink Floyd? Carrasco simply shutting us down. Calling him Pink Floyd is an insult of the highest order. To the band. Although it may have to do. I'm thinking of the following nicknames: -Aawful (Aardsma) -Tank Ass (Heath Phillips) If anyone knows the name of a broadway production which absolutely bombed they can use that for Lance Broadway.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 02:38 PM) The SS Irish parade is not only one of the best times ever, its nothing compared to some street fests, tailgate parties and other goings on that I have been to. It really isn't that bad. People just make this connection of an Irish parade producing the largest amount of drunks per square foot. Milwaukee's "Summerfest" is literally hell on Earth compared to anything else I've been to. While the Irish parade is one event, on Sunday, beginning early and ending early; Summerfest extends a week (through July 4th), ends at midnight every day, and features eveything bad about the SS parade x 10. And that's why I love it.
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) Last week was the St. Patrick's Day parade in Mt. Greenwood. It's one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. Children drink alcohol in front of adults and police officers. Thousands of people fill a neighborhood that isn't made for thousands of people, and then they go into random yards and piss all over their trees, bushes, side of the wall and all those things. Wonder how many people will be alcoholics when they grow up in part because they were taught that drinking heavily on St. Patty's Day when you're, say, fourteen years old is okay, which is something I particularly witnessed: a girl that age chugging shots while a policeman cheered her on. By all means, though. Celebrate your day, if this is something you're into. I wouldn't doubt the validity of those events, having personally seen all of them in past years. Police officers responsible for patrolling the area of Beverly, are -- in most port -- from the area. They're rather lenient to under aged drinkers in public. However, that's definitely not the case for people attempting to enter neighborhood bars without proper identification. I wasn't there this year, but I can speak from experience (as could SSI and others) that it's FAR different now than the past. Much more tame, if you can believe it. Arrest figures prove as much. I recall in the Daily Southtown a police blotter indicating arrests (under 50, IIRC) were less than last year and nearly 500% less than five years ago. Not one DUI was tied to the event. I don't believe many condone the consumption of alcohol in minors. The problem is, how can you prevent it? Especially in an event renowned as one of the largest neighborhood festivities in the nation. If I were living in the area and knew my children were attending the parade, I'd at least ask them to drink responsibly. No driving; know when to stop drinking; and resist entering the vehicles of others who may be intoxicated.
  13. Cubs defeated. And how about Mackowiak today and his ABs against lefthanders? Damn good. Now I'll just listen to the blubbering idiot Santo for a little bit and enjoy this victory before tomorrow.
  14. Who will be the hero to knock out the Cubs? I can't accept failure against them; spring training or not.
  15. Not a good inning thus far for Jenks. Bases loaded, 0 outs. .....and it's a tie game.
  16. If the radar gun wasn't off a few mph all day, I'd be willing to question the last sequence for MacDougal. Some of his pitches, especially tghe 3-1 offering, had unbelievable movement for a 93mph fastball.
  17. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 05:24 PM) Will Boone Logan make the trip to Chicago? He's been lights out in the spring. If his name were Boonito Lopez I guarantee he'd be going to Chicago.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 04:57 PM) I have a feeling the final cuts this year are really really really going to piss me off. Sending Anderson to Charlotte and keeping Floyd in either the rotation or bullpen would really irritate me. Sisco's placement in the bullpen doesn't register on the same radar as those two.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) It would be so useful for him to actually make the team and succeed...thus giving us the 2nd lefty and putting Sisco in AAA. I agree, although from quotes and various newspaper articles it appears Sisco's position is all but guaranteed. Between him and Masset, two pitchers who could possibly be high ceiling starters, I'd atleast hope one is stretched out for the rotation within the next several seasons.
  20. Damn, Logan gained some muscle since I've last seen him. Throwing harder as well.
  21. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 03:58 PM) if anybody is taking bets, BA is either going to the minors as some kind of punishment or going to another team in a deal. I'd be willing to bet Anderson isn't traded. Erstad can't possibly be regarded as a long term option in CF. If Brian is dealt, who occupies the position in 2008? Perhaps we could get by with mid tier, FA options; if not for possible openings in LF and RF to worry about. This organization needs Anderson more than they may admit. Even if they continue to screw with his development and send him down, it'd be much better than dealing him and essentially admitting the orgnazation drastically overrated Anderson. As much as trading Young was heavily criticized from the beginning, Anderson was available. Who's behind Anderson? I wouldn't consider Sweeney an option, either.
  22. (sigh). Still giving up outs, that Podsednik character.
  23. I couldn't believe Podsednik didn't even enter the picture when Blanco's throw was in air. The initial jump, from what I could tell, wasn't bad -- he just didn't appear to run quickly. Which isn't very encouraging. Hopefully these CS's don't pile up. And what the hell is Williams talking about avoiding "middle of the road" pitchers and concentrating on those of high ceilings? What the hell have the last two first round draft picks been, again?
  24. Funny how the Cubs broadcast on WGN didn't sound this poorly. You'd swear we're listening to a WCIU game.
