Yeah, Parque is basically defenseless for linedrives hit at his head.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) Is there a way to just let it stay on without me having to touch the mouse pad every few minutes. Have you ever seen the Simpsons episode where Homer had the plastic bird continually press "Y" on the keyboard? There's your answer.

Lance Broadway - Josh Fogg

Only 1 hit?! Ooooo, Jesus Christ.
-
That sun must be beaming on Sweeney because he doesn't appear to have good reads on fly balls hit to him.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) That's good. Hopefully Arizona didn't have its A ball roster in the game at that point. I guess the way of looking at it is you'd expect those pitchers to dominate lower competition. Although 'B' games seem to have more regulars than people give credit for. Vazquez was bad however you look at it; lower competition or not.
-
Appeared to be a rather bad read from Sweeney on that flyball.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 02:56 PM) Perez looked foolsih. If he's swinging blindly against the 27 year old PHENOM Horacio Ramirez, wait until he faces other lefties in our division.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) Jenks pitched well in the B game. Vazquez got lit up, but they have the spin going saying he retired 8 out of the last 9. I believe I heard Jenks struck out 3 in 1 1/3 innings; Sisco 4 in 2 innings.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) Russell might be tiring, as he's hanging a ton of pitches. More than any other reason, this is probably the White Sox showcasing Russell. Hopefully not to Philadelphia scouts.

Terrible throw from Sweeney.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 02:25 PM) I could definitely see where someone may anoint Russel as a "sleeper." While his statistics hardly portray someone with plus-stuff, from the last inning alone, he hit 95/96 several occasions and featured several tremendous sliders. He has a future in someone's bullpen, that's for sure. Add in good movement on a two seam fastball. Just struck out Big Sexy as well.

If Harcio Ramirez were on our ballclub he would have been tagged by the opposing team. He appears to be nothing more than another soft tossing lefty responsible for giving our lineup fits.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) Flash...you'll see why I think he's quite possibly the biggest sleeper in the org. He's got some gas on his fastball, throws from multiple arm angles, and has a few breaking balls (albeit they are far from polished and I think the multiple arm angles has probably hurt or at least hampered the growth of his breaking balls to a point), and the protypical pitchers frame. I could definitely see where someone may anoint Russel as a "sleeper." While his statistics hardly portray someone with plus-stuff, from the last inning alone, he hit 95/96 several occasions and featured several tremendous sliders. He has a future in someone's bullpen, that's for sure.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 02:16 PM) What in the hell was that? Russell just made Ichiro look REAL bad. That last breaking ball he threw was filthy.

Danks should be starting against lineups such as these. Seattle brought their A lineup out this afternoon.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:35 PM) The way I see it is if you think you are ready and you play great in ST and earn the job, you should get. I really hate it when people use the term 'rushing' when the player earns the job. Rushing a player to the bigs is like what was done last year w/ Anderson. He didn't earn the job, but awarded the job. As I recall, he hit fairly well (above .300) last Spring.
-
There will literally be no one of interest pitching today. No Masset, Gonzalez, Danks or Floyd. Sweeney and Anderson's presence may be the only saving grace.
-
I recall watching an HBO special of his recently. He would continually bring up his wife during various bits. I can't imagine what she's going through.

LMAO! The Zambrano/A.J. McDonald's Commercial

I haven't seen it yet. What's it about? -
Sox vs. Rox, March 10th 2007, 2:05 CST (SS)

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) Considering they actually get to watch him pitch, I'll go with what the coaches say. How many times have you seen him pitch this spring to determine that he isn't ready for the majors? Did you not read my post earlier? If he's throwing strikes, they're sure getting hit around fairly hard. Remember, too, Masset is pitching late in games when opposing lineups are full of fringe players and prospects. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) Judging what stats? It's spring training. STATS DON"T MATTER Of course. What guidelines are the coaching staff using to determine the 5th starter, again? I'm sure you'll just wait until Williams comments on Masset, then agree with him; regardless of the results. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 01:19 PM) Considering Floyd did nothing to prove last year he's anywhere close to being ready to start in the American League, I hope KW/Ozzie aren't that stubborn. It's their responsibility to rationalize the selection of Floyd over other starters if the results don't match. Such as, if Floyd's ERA is hovering around 8; Haeger around 4; Danks below 3, Williams can't exactly spin anything other than having the decision made before spring training began. Unless Floyd's peripherals are amazing and aren't indicative of his inflated ERA, a reasonable picture of who's good and who's not should be provided by late March. I'm sure his ass-lickers will mention how Haeger is a knuckleballer and Danks could use time in AAA. But then, why give anyone the impression this race is wide open? If I were anyone vying for a position, I'd rather Williams come out and suggest "Floyd will win no matter what" rather than pitching my ass off, only to have a reservation in Charlotte awaiting me. I can't be the only one who believes Floyd is destined to win the position because Williams needs to prove the immediate results of trading Garcia benefit this club.

Sure as hell not worth $250.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) f***. Masset is pitching, looks like we'll have to wait another couple days to see him pitch for the first time this spring. There are three games televised next week. One more on MLBTV next Sunday. No way he avoids pitching all of these days. Judging from his stats, he hardly appears ready for the majors. Although I'm not sure how hard he's throwing or what pitches he's using.
