no, it's the PS2, it's a known problem for the ps2. http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Guides/ps2diy/ Use that guide, instead of turning the wheel to adjust the voltage (like TechTV says), just clean the lens.

I've had them before, I fixed it following some instructions on the 'net, let me see if I can find it for you. (it did include taking apart your ps2)

ouch, I actually know a friend that did the same thing. I remember that game vividly, we had a big gathering at my uncle's house and we were all around the TV, pretty dissapointed w/ a few minutes left in the 4th. I remember my cousin actually yelling at the TV when the brown's coach challenged a play, he said, "There's only 3 minutes (?) left, your up 2 touchdowns, your gonna win." The rest is history.

I'd predict sooner, most of us are pretty fed up with him already, i give him a few more weeks.
