Marlins pass. Padres select Josh Martin #8 from Cleveland

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:05 AM) Blash goes 3. So he's off the board as expected. Liar!. Collin Walsh goes to Brewers at 4. Oakland selects Blash at 5 lol.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 08:40 AM) I would wait out Cincinnati. Frazier just doesn't have that big of a market. It's been said that the White Sox and Indians are interested. Who else from the AL would be interested? Maybe Texas, LAA, Tampa Bay? What about the NL? I just don't see a huge market. Texas, LAA, and TB really don't have a fit. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 08:45 AM) Texas is talking about extending Beltre and TB has Longoria. LAA is a possibility but they have no prospects. Agreed. LA literally has 0 high potential prospects left.

Remember, keep this thread strictly to plans of what Sox could/should do given the current moves already. Do not stray off topic. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) Bruce Levine on 670 said the Reds want Anderson or Fulmer. Anderson, Micah, and Montas

Spit balling here. Say Sox sign Upton. Then trade for Frazier and EJ is involved. We would have to get creative in order to trade LaRoche. Would you guys be opposed if Sox traded LaRoche to the Brewers for Matt Garza if the Brewers kicked in some money and maybe a prospect or two? He is owed 25 million over the next 2 years. This gives Fulmer a full year in the minors to develop.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) If they somehow found the money to add one of the premier OF's on the market, then decided to say screw it and go after Frazier, I would have no problem with Anderson being part of the deal. I agree. They can't go into the year with a Melky Eaton Avi/Thompson OF. They have to upgrade it offensively and defensively. Upton does that. They would just have to creative in getting a trade done for LaRoche. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) I have no problem with trading Anderson. If Frazier was older and had only 1 year on his deal I might be a little more hesitant. But his offensive boost would really help. Agreed. Upton and Frazier would greatly help this lineup.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:54 PM) Had a conversation with a friend of mine and we came to conclusion that the Sox should be sellers no matter what happens this year. They have about $32M+ coming off the books after the season and they should take the upcoming season to acquire as much talent as possible because they can set themselves up to be competitive in the short term, while acquiring long term pieces for the future. They seriously need to consider trading guys like Sale, Quintana, Abreu and Eaton. I really want to see a full year of Trayce Thompson, I hope he plays CF and Eaton moves to left. On the pitching side of things, I really want to see Dan Jennings take the next step, if he hones in on his control, he could be special. So, if we trade for Frazier and sign Upton? You'd still want to sell with all that money coming off the books the next year?
-
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) So who do you think would DH? If we get Upton? Melky would move to DH with an OF of Eaton Trayce Upton
-
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) Would Fraizer and Upton be feasible with Laroche still being on the team? Clearly Avi would have to be a part of a deal (which I really don't want to do but if you can get Upton then do it). Also Are people starting to warm to including Anderson in this package? Money wouldn't fit probably. Have to get rid of LaRoche in need of Upton.
-
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:44 PM) At this point, Micah has to be a center piece. Obviously if they have Lawrie at 2B & pursuing Frazier for 3B, they don't see Michah as their future 2B. He's got some value. Micah would be a complementary piece in a Frazier trade. Micah, Montas, Michalczewski, and Danish for Frazier? Anderson, Montas, and Micah for Frazier?
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) @scottmerkin: Hahn: "We have other irons in the fire." Now brand Frazier and Upton and I'll buy season tickets
-
Say we trade for Frazier and dump LaRoche (while eating some salary). I think there still is plenty of money for Upton. Frazier is really cheap for the next 2 years.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:34 PM) Would y'all be content if Hahn ended the meetings by trading for Frazier and signing Upton? I'd be happy with that I think. I'd buy a 7 game plan tomorrow if that happen.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:33 PM) Highly doubt it's Murphy they are after. Seems like it's definitely Frazier. Has to be. They still need an OFer though....
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:30 PM) Definitely love what I'm hearing from Hahn tonight Just gotta make it happen.
-
Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan 1m1 minute ago Hahn said White Sox are not done looking to improve offense. Yes! Keep doing it! Take my money!
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) Get Upton and Frazier and subtract Avi and LaRoche...I'm legit excited about this team for 2016. Stop teasing me!!
-
Last day of the meetings is tomorrow, correct? If so, is there usually any action on the last day?
-
A lineup with Frazier & Upton & a trade of LaRoche while eating some money LF Eaton (L) DH Cabrera (S) 1B Abreu RF Upton 3B Frazier C Navarro/Avila (S) (L) CF Thompson 2B Sanchez SS Saladino
-
Sox rumored to be interested in anyone?
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 05:53 PM) Anderson isn't a can't miss guy. People still question his defense and his ability to make contact. Not worth denying all-star worthy talent to keep. If you trade Anderson to get Frazier. Sox MUST SIGN Upton.
-
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 03:51 PM) For what its worth I just got off the phone with the former assistant GM for the Helena Brewers. Milwaukee was the team the originally drafted Lawrie and he was supposed to be assigned there. He held out and wound up missing the entire Pioneer League season He said flat out the guy is a "head case" (direct quote) and that's why the Brewers got rid of him so quickly. Mark He was drafted out of HS, and probably thought he was hot ****. A person could mature with age. That was 7-8 years ago. Stop trying to prove your point.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 03:50 PM) I am like you. While I have some concerns of Lawrie, it also sounds like he's a pretty hard ass player who brings an edge, which I think we could use more of. Same. Much like what AJ brought to this team.
-
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 03:15 PM) I've also gotten the vibe the Sox want to complete 2-3 deals in a row in the quick succession, which is obviously requires a lot of moving parts. You want to get it right, but at the same time, you wait long enough and teams move on. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) It makes sense to me if they want to be "in", they want to get all of their ducks in a row before pulling them off. I could see this as well. Trade for Lawrie, trade LaRoche, sign Upton.
