David Kaplan @thekapman 11m11 minutes ago Great stuff with @JimBowden_ESPN talking baseball on both sides of Chicago. He says he hears the White Sox could be in play on Cespedes.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) Inciarte? I'd love to get him. I would think Inciarte would revolve around Anderson as well. That kid is really good. In regards to the Nightengale tweet, Reds have to be asking for Salazar or Frazier as a package. The Royals package would have to include Mondesi I'd assume. Would the Royals use Frazier for LF since they have Moose at 3B? I'd be up for giving up Anderson for Frazier and another piece like Cozart or a B level prospect

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 08:37 AM) Eaton is great leading off. His steals aren't great but he gets on base and was according to Bill James, the White Sox best baserunner in 2015. There is no reason to move him. I hope they try Melky back at the 2 spot. He supposedly was perfect for it until he couldn't buy a hit for a couple of months. Melky is the perfect 2 hitter. Especially if we can acquire guys like Upton and Frazier. Our 1-6/7 in the lineup would be really really good.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 08:08 AM) Suarez is not the long term solution. He's more likely to end up a utility infielder ala Ramon Santiago. There's no way they trade Frazier/Cozart/Mesoraco...any combination of two out of three...for less than Anderson/Fulmer but more likely Quintana or Rodon as the target. Quintana and Rodon has more value than all 3 of those players. Cozart's value isn't that high coming off a torn ACL, not that great of a hitter, but has a solid glove. Cozart's value is probably equal to or less than what we traded for Lawrie. Also, in my original proposal for Frazier and Cozart, I did include Anderson, AND Montas, Micah, and Avi. That's 2 top 100 prospects, a possible replacement for Phillips at 2B, and an OF with MLB experience that still has potential. I did also mention that Thompson could replace Avi in the deal and LaRoche and Avi could platoon at DH.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) "In an attempt to fill at least one of their outfield holes, the Orioles are negotiating with, and have made an offer to, 27-year-old Korean Hyun-Soo Kim, according to industry sources. The offer is believed to be two years in length and roughly in the $3 to $4 million range per season, one source said." http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles...1214-story.html For that kind of money I would love to see the Sox make a serious offer. Could be a bust but could be a steal. Give me Upton who is way more proven, just more money

Dan Connolly @danconnollysun 37m37 minutes ago Sources: The #Orioles are negotiating with, and have made an offer to, LH-hitting Korean outfielder Hyun-Soo Kim, 27. A sign that they use their money on Davis and not spend big on Upton, Cespedes, or Gordon?

GGajewski18 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Roman Reigns is Daniel Bryan 2.0. However, he is way less liked, less skilled, and no mic skills. I say this because of the authority putting him in unfair matches and constant outside interference. I hate this angle that they are doing with him. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 03:54 PM) Jim Bowden @JimBowden_ESPN 1m1 minute ago Giants deal with Cueto takes them out of Upton & Cespedes who now must concentrate on doing deals with #Angels #Cardinals #Orioles #WhiteSox Cespedes to the Angels. Gordon to the Cardinals. O's resign Parra and Davis. White Sox sign Upton.

QUOTE (BigFinn @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) ESPN's Buster Olney is reporting that Johnny Cueto has signed with the San Francisco Giants, according to the post on MLBtraderumors.com. Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 36s36 seconds ago cueto has agreement with giants. 6-year deal.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 03:04 PM) To be honest, doing that and just hoping for our vets to improve is better than trading top prospects for Frazier (and I don't like the stand pat plan either). IF we are going to make a run at this, we need to go all in and add Frazier plus an Upton. If you sign Upton, fine, that can be part of a longer term plan, but wasting pieces on Frazier without having an aggressive and legit plan to contend for both of his seasons under team control is just absurd in my eyes...absurd. Completely agree. If they trade for Frazier. That's not enough, JR needs to go out and pay for a premier bat like Upton because he can still fit the long term plan.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 02:56 PM) Dan Hayes seems to think the White Sox won't be signing a big bat free agent, and most likely won't be trading for Frazier. Of course they could be playing with him. Well Hahn said they want to add a big bat. If not either of them, then CarGo fits I guess.

Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN 1m1 minute ago Giants are making progress on an agreement with Johnny Cueto. Could reach a deal soon.

Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 1h1 hour ago Sources: #SFGiants making strong push for Cueto. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 1h1 hour ago For #SFGiants, Peavy, Pagan, Romo, Lopez, Casilla deals expire after ’16, Cain after ’17. Could backload Cueto way they did with Samardzija. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 1h1 hour ago #SFGiants will pay Samardzija $9 million in 2016, $18M annually from ’17-’20. Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick 38m38 minutes ago One person familiar with Cueto's market thinks he might "do better'' than 6 yr, $120-126M offer he spurned from #Dbacks. Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick 16m16 minutes ago #Dodgers and #STLCards, both of whom dabbled in Cueto market, seemed hesitant to go near #Dbacks 6 yr, $120-126 offer.

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) Plus, unlike many, I'm not throwing in the towel on Garcia just yet. He's 24 and played 1 full season in the majors. I still think he has a lot of potential and want to see what he can do in year 2 before dumping him. But I could also see adding players while developing. I wouldn't mind him moving to LF, Melky to DH, and signing one of the big 3 OF's to play RF. As for Frazier, I wonder how highly thought of Trey M. is in baseball circles. Maybe Trey, Beck/Danish, and Micah could get it done. I remember during the season, someone asked Keith Law about Trey. Law said he could be an above average 3B hitting and fielding.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) Some thoughts... You don't have Nick Delmonico on your list - you think they skip him over to re-sign Alfredo Simon? Tago to AAA is interesting I could see that, though it's a pretty big jump. I thought Devon Davis was released. Jarvis had a poor showing in Great Falls. It seems hard to believe, especially since he is still pretty young, that they'd jump him to full season and leave behind guys like Strong and Mendick. And I have a hard time seeing Sikes Orvis getting a full-time DH role when there are positional prospects who need the reps. I did skip Delmonico. Oops, my mistake. That said, I think he starts the year in AA at 1B with Trey at 3B. If Delmonico does well, then a quick promotion to AAA. I could see Barnum repeating A ball again. Gotta challege Tago. I believe he's turning 24, so I think putting him in AAA in a hitters park would be a good test. Was Davis released? I thought I would of caught that. He made it up to AA before struggling there and going to Kanny. For Jarvis, I think it's good to challenge him. I think that team can be really good and really young for that level.. It would be a good test, and you know Sox like to be aggressive with assignments. In terms of Orvis, you're right, I just saw some power that he could bring to the team.

Viable Trade Candidates That Wont Cost Anderson or Fulmer?
GGajewski18 replied to Dunt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 01:01 PM) i don't know, i am not game in trading him for anderson. He's not advocating he would trade Anderson for Ethier. The question is, trade options that wouldn't cost Anderson or Fulmer. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 12:56 PM) Why would the Reds also give up Cozart? It would be the equivalent of us trading Adam Eaton...if you want to be realistic, Mesoraco's more of a possibility but also extremely unlikely for a different set of reasons. Because they're rebuilding? They used Suarez at SS after Cozart got hurt, put an OPS of 780.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 11:31 AM) This tells me the White Sox do NOT see Kevan Smith or Rob Brantly as likely to be successful major leaguers, even as backups. If they thought both could likely do that well, they wouldn't have gotten Sanchez. Two of the three will be in Charlotte, one will be gone. I'm guessing Smith is gone. He's older than all 3 and didn't do much in AAA last year in a hitter friendly park.

Sign OF Justin Upton 6 years/128 million Trade OF Avisail Garcia, SP Frankie Montas, SS Tim Anderson, 2B Micah Johnson to the Reds for Todd Frazier and SS Zack Cozart Reason for the trade for Reds: Anderson and Montas hurt, but that is the cost to bring in guys that have 4 years of control together. Micah and Avi really don't have a spot on this team due to bad defense/under achieving play. Could also argue that Montas could end up in the bullpen. But, this trade does give the Reds 2 top 100 prospects, a player they could fit in their OF, and a 2B that may replace Phillips. Reason for the trade for Sox: Frazier brings that middle of the lineup pop that the Sox desperately need at a premier position. Cozart is a really good glove that can hit a bit better than Saladino. Adding him to the deal makes losing Anderson a little sting out of it. The deal could also flip Avi and Thompson if Reds prefer him. Avi could platoon with LaRoche at the DH spot. CF Adam Eaton (L) LF Melky Cabrera (S) 1B Jose Abreu RF Justin Upton 3B Todd Frazier DH Adam LaRoche (L)/Trayce Thompson 2B Brett Lawrie C Alex Avila (L)/Dioner Navarro (S) SS Zack Cozart Bench: 2B/SS Carlos Sanchez (S), UTIL Tyler Saladino, C Alex Avila (L)/Dioner Navarro (S), 1B Adam LaRoche (L)/OF Trayce Thompson Pitching staff is the same as it is now. Thoughts?

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 13, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) Nightingale hasn't mentioned the Sox since in connection with Upton That's my point to GreatScott, Merkin hasn't mentioned that Sox don't want to give up picks since that next day. We've heard nothing since then.
