  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 09:40 PM) Good stuff in this article about the type of teammate LaRoche is http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/natio...6985_story.html That was awesome to read. He fills the veteran leadership void.
  2. Anybody else think its still interesting that the Sox have yet to announce this official? I figured if you have a deal with a player agreed upon and are up against the 40 man that you think that ahead of time. You think Hahn just taking his time or is another move on the horizon?
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 09:04 PM) LHRP LH DH LH OF RHSP RP RP I think these are the remaining moves we make, possibly a few more cheap ones. The OF doesn't necessarily need to be left handed anymore. That could make him easier to find. (Another infielder or a catcher are also possible but unlikely moves at this point, unless they come via a Ramirez trade.) I agree with the needs. Although I think we only need one more reliever.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 08:45 PM) Could make sense but I'm not trading something of value from this org. for a guy with only 1 year before FA. I would definitely give him an extension worth 105 million for 6 years.
  5. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 08:43 PM) Maybe Justin Upton is an idea as well. I would go crazy if that happened, in a good way.
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 08:40 PM) I'm thinking we sign Aoki I really can't stand him. I hope not.
  7. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 08:39 PM) I think they want to give Vic another year and not sell low on him. I do hope they move Alexei. Most interested in Van Slyke among Dodger outfielders. Is arc is still heading up. Don't need complainers on this team, esp with Ventura as manager. Getting LaRoche, no way you get rid of Alexei now unless an insane deal comes across Hahn's table.
  8. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 08:08 PM) First post here: With the recent signing of LaRoche, I think we as fans can all but rule out a Pablo Sandoval signing. Main reason why I say this is because LF, RHSP and bullpen help are all much larger needs. With that being said, I feel that Melky would be a great signing (even with the 2nd round compensation). Imagine the top part of the lineup being: Eaton Cabrera Abreu LaRoche Garcia. That's a pretty potent top part to the lineup. Aoki is another LF FA I would seriously consider. Alexei and Conor are pretty damn good 6-7 hitters too.
  9. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 08:03 PM) 2.2 bWAR and .5 fWAR -- almost all due to variations on his defensive value. Hopefully they've done their scouting on his defense, although judging from how often they trotted Konerko out there at the end they don't really give that much of a f*** about 1B defense. Really hope more dominoes are going to fall. I'm pretty sure everyone on this board can assure you that this will not be the only move this off season...
  10. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 07:58 PM) This. Perfect move for this team. Something big is on the way, I can feel it in my plums. I definitely agree. Its either gonna be a Melky Cabrera signing or this Bruce trade.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 07:55 PM) 2 years/$25 million might be bad for the right handed batting side of the platoon (think Jonny Gomes or Cody Ross), but not the lefty bat. Especially when he puts up 26 HRs 82 RBIs with a 817 OPS in a pitchers ballpark
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 07:35 PM) I expect from here, Sox will add at least three more starters (quality outfielder, closer, and a starting pitcher) at a minimum. I also still think a Dodgers / Sox deal makes too much sense. Don't think a closer will be needed. But, definitely an outfielder and starting pitcher will be added. I think OF via free agency and pitcher via trade.
  13. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 07:39 PM) awful, uninspired move. When did Kevin Towers take over for Hahn? What did you want Hahn to do?
  14. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 07:33 PM) Tomas might possible take a 4/5 year deal (which won't be over 100) so he can enter free agency at 28/29 and have a chance at at a 6-7 year deal This could be interesting. I think I'd rather sign Melky though.
  15. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 07:21 PM) Sox get Jay Bruce Reds get Jordan Zimmermann, Dayan Viciedo Nats get 2 of these three: Danish, Montas, Adams Nats get the salary relief they so desperately crave to sign Scherzer. Reds get their good SP. Sox get their LF. Reds aren't looking to add payroll.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 07:01 PM) Which means no big signing even if that number is real because they still have multiple holes to fill. If they have another 20-25 million left to spend. Melky 4 years/50 million Trade for Bruce.
  17. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 06:41 PM) There is no way the Nats are going to trade Strasburg and in order to go after Scherzer. For one, the fans would form a mob. And a 1-2 punch of those two in a rotation is downright nasty. If they are going to shed salary, it's going to be Fister or Zimmermann. I agree, just throwing it out there. I would love Zimmermann (with an extension) and Bruce in a Sox uniform.
  18. Now sign Melky Cabrera right now please.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 06:33 PM) interesting...... but how can the sox help there beside Q. what will come back to the sox?? To Sox OF Jay Bruce SP Zimmermann/Fister/Strasburg To Reds SP Jose Quintana To Nationals Top prospects from Sox and Reds.
  20. Absolutely love it.
  21. Just throwing it out there, but the Nationals are reportedly making their starters available to make a run at Scherzer. This whole Q+ thing gets me thinking of Bruce and one of Fister/Zimermann/Strasburg. I think the Nationals could be that third team.
  22. I wouldn't give much of anything for him. He just adds payroll and not much better than Flowers. Only thing different is he hits left handed and comes at 40 million for 3 more years. I don't know what i would even offer.
  23. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 10:22 PM) No sweat. Never said it was straight Q for JB, btw. Then what did you mean by Q+? Is that with acquiring a pitcher too?
  24. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 09:42 PM) Q for Bruce? There had better be more coming back with Bruce and the name better not be Phillips either. The only names I'm interested in if its for Q is in order Cueto, Latos, Frazier, Leake, added on with Bruce.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 08:56 PM) Call me skepical of this"inside source". Rock, I believe.20 minutes afte mlbtraderumors comes up with Jay Bruce being available, this comes up. I would bet my home the White Sox wouldn't offer Q straight up for Bruce, let alome Q+. He is playing you guys. Agreed, unless we get Cueto back with Bruce, then I would be ok with giving up Quintana. But I really don't even want to do that. No way I would even do Q for Bruce straight up. I don't see how they have leverage when Bruce is coming off a horribly down year and Quintana has generated two good/great seasons in a row on a great contract.
