This is my first time online since Friday night, since I didn't get home til 3:30 this morning, and I just wanted to tell you guys that it was awesome finally putting a face to your names. Maury, maybe someday! Steff and hotsoxchick, thanks for the hospitality. cwsox, Dead things still suck! Mr. Showtime, you seem real cool! and last, but certainly not least... I'm a HUGE ISU baseball fan. When I was a freshman at ISU, Neal Cotts was a junior. Cotts then would leave ISU to only be drafted in the second round by Oakland that year. I literally got to see him pitch over 10 times as a Redbird, as I went to all but one home game all season long, as well as on the road at Bradley. He was our pitching STUD, breaking many ISU pitching records. My RA my freshman year happened to be the baseball team's physical trainer, so many baseball players would always be on our floor. A few other girls on the floor and I grew pretty close to the team, and we'd go down to the dining center with our RA to eat with the team quite often. Cotts would join us sometimes, and I must say he is a very nice guy.

He does. But, he doesn't allow many of those walks to score. His composure is something to admire. His composure, as well as his pitching location, help make him an adequate #5 when we need him.

Does anyone know if this has been topped? The Sox have made up eight games in the past three weeks. I know it's still August, and there's still more baseball to be played. But, I wonder if anyone else has accomplished something like this in such a short period of time (other than the '69 Mets).

Agreed. He's been playing with a lot of emotion this year, which is a tribute to how hard he's worked on his game. He wants a championship NOW, since we surely have the tools to get it. I'm seriously thinking he'll even step it up greater than he already has!

Tampa has been playing some rather inspired ball lately. I predicted in a past thread that they'd take no less than 3 of 4 in this series. They might as well sweep them. We'd have a 2.5 game lead if that were the case.

Nobody said anything is gonna be easy. But I feel a hell of a lot better with Buehrle, Colon, And Loaiza in the playoffs then I did Jim Parque, Mike Sirotka, And James Baldwin in 2000....lol... As do I. I think that we will atleast get to see if Manuel goes with these 3 and has a very big bullpen in the postseason, or if we go with Garland in game 4. I personally would like to see Garland as a long relief pitcher in the playoffs. We only really need three starters, since they have a day in between games when the teams change cities, and I'm not so sure Garland is quite up there with the top three as a big-game pitcher, so I don't think he'd do well in such big-game situations the playoffs provide.
