I just want everyone fired and start fresh. But we all know Jerry isn't letting that happen

Brewers/Padres Trade: Urias/Lauer for Zach Davies/Trent Grisham
I went to college with him, watched him pitched a lot and have seen most of his starts since coming up. Like you said he is a very strong competitor and is always working to get better but his stuff is a bit limited. I think he would do well his first season in the AL but after that I am not sure. I think he is the perfect guy to be an "Opener" and throw 3-4 innings. He usually struggles in the 5th/6th.

I would love to get Lucchesi as a lefty option in the rotation

Would really hate to lose out to the Twins.

I haven't watched a ton but it seems like every game I have watch Lauri has missed a dunk or got out-muscled on a shot at the rim

Abreu Signs 3/$50M Extension
I think it just means Abreu will mainly be a DH

Abreu Signs 3/$50M Extension
3 year/50M 5M signing bonus, 11M in 2020, 16M in 2021, 18M in 2021, $4 million differed

WHITE SOX SIGN Grandal 4/$73, Palka DFAd
That 26th man will be huge this year. Keeping Collins or Mercedes as the 26th man allows for both McCann and Grandal to be in the lineup when Grandal needs a break behind the dish. A lot more flexibility with the line ups now (just have to trust Ricky)

WHITE SOX SIGN Grandal 4/$73, Palka DFAd
Well that is good to hear. Excited to add another solid hitter to this lineup!

WHITE SOX SIGN Grandal 4/$73, Palka DFAd
I can admit when I was wrong, didn't expect them to get Grandal at all. That is a lot of money for him though, right?

FS: 40-Man Roster Decisions, Eligibility and The Rule 5 Draft Implications
I still think Mercedes is the perfect 26th man. He can play C/1B/DH and I think he even played a couple games at 3B

This team can't finish worth shit. As soon as Lavine and Lauri came back in the game it turned to shit

Sox issue qualifying offer to Abreu
Why would he accept anything less than 2/28? He is automatically getting 18M this year, if he performs you don't think he could get a 1 year deal at around 10M for the next year?

It is obvious this team has some young talented players, that first half against the Lakers was great and we have had other games we looked great too for periods of time.

Just pathetic, this team can't finish a game worth shit

A Realistic Offseason
That would depend on the contracts given.

A Realistic Offseason
Based on what? Seems like you have blind optimism. What makes this off-season a fail to you? As long as we spend 40M you are happy?
-
A Realistic Offseason
Cool, so we spent money to maybe get 2nd place in the division. Say we get Calhoun, Thames, and Bumgarner. Yeah that makes us better this year but what does that do for the future of the organization? You have to bring in a longer term player with more upside but I see this organization settling.
-
A Realistic Offseason
Nobody is saying they won't sign anyone. But who cares if we sign a 4 or 5 starting pitcher and an average RF/DH? Where does that get us? I think they are going to end up overpaying for average talent. We won't sign a top 5 FA (Cole, Rendon, Stras, Grandal, Wheeler) IMO.
-
A Realistic Offseason
I agree but be ready to be disappointed, I don't think we will get either.
-
A Realistic Offseason
That it is very possible we can strike out in free agency again even though all signs point to us being big players? You make it seem like it is a guarantee we are going to sign quality players but people were saying the same thing last year when there wasn't as high of a market as there will be this year.

A Realistic Offseason
I bet I can go back a year and find this same statement from a handful of people on this board and across the internet.
-
A Realistic Offseason
I am pretty pessimistic but I think a lot of Sox fans are at this point and the front office is feeling the pressure to do something this off-season after what happened last year. So I wouldn't doubt if the bigger names are off the table and Hahn and company over pay for a couple guys.
-
A Realistic Offseason
Not really saying that, I still think the team can be pretty good with the minor leaguers coming up and Kopech coming back from injury. But we have heard "the money will be spent" numerous times and I just don't see it this off-season. I hope I am wrong and we land a bigger FA but I have a feeling we will end up overpaying for a guy just so the front office can say we spent the money to get better.
