Ferguson Riots
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 03:23 PM) Where at? I live and work about 20-30 minutes west of Ferguson and nothing at all happened around here when everything first started. I know my work has some safety precautions in place and a few of my coworkers are a little freaked out but I honestly don't think it's going to get too crazy unless you're right in the heart of Ferguson. My family lives around 20-30 minutes south of downtown St. Louis on 55.. I doubt anything will happen around there but you never know.

Dodgers aggressively pursuing Alexei
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 23, 2014 -> 10:26 PM) That's why I said IF .Most people would've phrased that 3/36 or put the PER year in there. Maybe we get Pablo now for 3B? Maybe not

40 Man Roster
Garcia should not be on the MLB roster if we want to compete. Simple as that. He would be a fine September call up for pinch running and such but that is about it.

2014 Video game thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 12:45 AM) FYI, Madden, FIFA, and NBA 2K15 are all $30 at Walmart this weekend. So if you wanted to pick one of those up at half-price, now's the time. It's better than going during Black Friday. Is it online or only in stores?

White Sox sign Adam LaRoche
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 09:46 PM) This f***ing sucks. But it's very White Sox. Cabrera is the obvious choice, but we decide to play it cheap and waste $25 million in the process. This is why we're an also ran franchise for most of our history. This is a complete waste of money for a DH who will be lucky to slug .430 next season. Very KW. Very KW. Who am I kidding? This will never f***ing change until JR passes on to the next plane. Are you upset?

Dodgers aggressively pursuing Alexei
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 03:25 PM) For what it's worth Buster Onley ranked the top 10 SS's in baseball in an insider article today. http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/buster-olney/post?id=8669 According to the article he ranked them...."Through conversations with team evaluators, general managers and our own statistical analysts" to come up with this list. The list...and I'll put a breif synopsis of why each guy is ranked where they are according to Buster 1. Simmons- Basically he's by far the best defensive SS in the game is still young and fairly cheap. 2. Peralta- He's top 5 in both OPS and defensive runs saved among SS's the past 3 years. 3. Desmond- His combo of speed and power makes him a "dynamic" player 4. Tulo- If it wasn't for injuries he would be clear cut #1 5. Hardy- GG defense and 20 HR power make him one of the best 6. Crawford- Didn't say much....just that he's consistent and saves runs on D 7. Aybar- Consistent hitter who puts the ball in play and doesn't K 8. Alexei- (copy and pasted whole excerpt) He has some value in the trade market (see below). Justin Havens of ESPN Stats & Info sent along this note about his defense and offense: “He may be slipping defensively, at least as measured by defensive runs saved -- he’s gone from +14 to +1 to -4 since 2012. Also, through the end of May, he was hitting .329 with a .479 slugging percentage; after that, he hit .243 with a .370 slugging over a span of 423 plate appearances." 9. Escobar- Likened him to Hardy...consistent all around 10. Castro- shows flashes but his D is bad and isn't consistent enough Well there it is....feel free to pick it apart. And remember to save all rude comments for Buser Olney. I'm just the messenger. Jhonny Peralta is the 2nd best SS?? Haha ok Buster

Jay Bruce
IF we give up Quintana (Which defeats the purpose of what the Sox are trying to build) we better get one hell of a deal for him. Q is the most underrated pitcher in the game and has such a great contract and only getting better.
-
Jay Bruce
I don't want to trade Quintana for Bruce let alone Quintana+ Reds have enough damn pitching.

White Sox DFA Ronald Belisario

2014-2015 MLB off season player movement and rumors thread
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 10:15 PM) We are talking about a sport where a $100 million payroll puts you at the bottom half of the spending list, and many young players are paid 1/20th of their worth in open market. There are plenty of money to spend around the league, that's why I am not too caught up by the Zach Duke deal. Everyone is overpaid now. If you aren't overpaying you aren't getting players. Better be damn good in the draft/International signings if you don't want to spend the money to sign the guys to help you win

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 08:09 PM) That is a LOT of money for Billy Butler. This day and age everyone is going to be getting more then we think they deserve. Just the nature of free agency and the MLB

White Sox sign Zach Duke, 3 years, $15 million
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 02:39 PM) Of course it's expensive. They decided to outbid another team for a guy that appears to be a reliable LHP out of the pen. Wait, who are you?

White Sox focused on RH SP, LH bat, bullpen
QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 16, 2014 -> 08:02 PM) https://twitter.com/DOBrienAJC/status/534123924477739008 If the Braves are more likely to trade a setup guy, the White Sox probably match up with them pretty well. Jordan Walden, David Carpenter. Somebody named Anthony Varvaro who I never heard of, or forgot. IF they are trading a bullpen piece I want Shae Simmons Simmons

Andrew Lambo?
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 16, 2014 -> 07:27 PM) Not sure but if I had to guess, maybe Beck? Oh wow! Good call. Don't know how I missed that. Pirates seem like a good trade partner for the Sox depending on what the Pirates are looking for in return. I assume they want pitching/MI

Yasmany Thomas Signs with AZ Dbacks
QUOTE (dayan024 @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 04:24 PM) @timdierkes: Dark horses for Yasmany Tomas? Hearing there are three "very unlikely" teams among those still in the mix for him. I'm hearing there are at least 23 teams that would love to sign him but are very not unlikely to be not be involved..

Yasmany Thomas Signs with AZ Dbacks
QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 03:13 PM) They met him with him I think 3 times. They seem pretty interested Doesn't necessarily mean he would want to play for a losing team and in that ballpark.. You would think after seeing the success of Abreu he would want to come here or a hitter's friendly park.. But it is probably all about the money with him and his agent
