  1. Some possibilities out there. At the top of my list is Don Mattingly, currently bench coach with Toronto. Joe Maddon still available for one last stint in majors. I like earlier suggestion of Pierzynski, who would be more entuned to what's going on with Sox. And then, of course, there's always Ozzie Guillen. He did it before and can lead us again!
  2. Correction: La Russa WAS a heavyweight. He had no idea what was transpiring on the field during this last stint with the Sox, as evidenced by some very poor strategic decisions. But I'll always give him kudos for being a brilliant manager in his prime. There was nobody better. Unfortunately, Father Time and health problems caught up with him.
  3. Following Renteria and LaRussa, you'd think Reinsdorf and his minions had learned their lesson, especially with heavyweights like Bochy, Maddon and Mattingly (I think) still available. But nooooo! They went to the then worst organization in baseball--Kansas City--for a replacement. And adding insult to injury they make Getz the GM--another Royals management flunky. So now with have a roster with an average age of "60" and we are quickly heading to the worst record in the league! HELP!!!
  4. Hope they're not done. Grifol needs to go, too. And hopefully Reinsdorf shops outside the organization for replacements. We need new blood, new strategies and ideas. We screwed up by not snatching Botchy. Look what he's done for the Rangers. But, Maddon and Mattingly are still jobless, to name a few. Enough of the same ol' crap! Brighter days are ahead!!
  5. ...And most incompetent general manager and manager. Total mess!
  6. It would be nice to add another quality starter, although we've been pretty solid in that category. After a promising start for our bullpen, it's completely collapsed. Maybe management should direct its attention in that direction. How 'bout promoting Johnson to the bigs, starting him out in the pen and relieve us of the albatross which Albers is. There you go. Problem solved!
  7. Guidelines duly noted. Thanks for the heads-up.
  8. I hope so, Hi8. I'll be here. Besides, after we get rid of President O in 2016, we'll be just fine.
  9. I've been a rabid Sox fan for years, and I hate the term "rebuilding." When you're competing at this level, there is no such thing IMO. I respect Eminor's comment that this is a deep-thinking forum. That's a good think and I look forward to future discussions. What I don't appreciate are the drive-by zingers. There's always a slander assassin in every forum, as in Chitownsportsfan. But then again, his avatar says it all. And, hey, I never said we were strong contenders, but there was a glimmer of hope. With the additon of Abreu and the emergence of Gillespie and the toughness of Sale, who knows what could have happened. We were 14 back two days again, now we're back down to 12.5. When the Indians-Royals game goes final, it'll be 12. Hey, I'm a dreamer. So what. Miracles happen. I love the White Sox. We're all in this together. Let's go get 'em.
  10. Turmoil where? How about starting with the pitching staff? How about the lame bullpen? And both are the result of a non-responsive GM (although he was a major improvement over the beleaguered Kenny W). I, for one, thought we missed a golden opportunity in July to bolster the staff before the trade deadline. Our offense was more than holding its own--although Hahn is slowly dismantling it--and a few strategic moves in the pen and maybe adding a viable No. 4 or No. 5 starter would've worked miracles. Hell, getting a strong No. 3 would have sufficed. We were only six or seven games back at the time, with Abreu burning a a path on the diamond. But this happens every year, probably thanks to the big boss Mr. Reinsdork!
  11. You mean Dunn is leaving a clubhouse, front office and team in turmoil.
