  1. Ozuna has played only 67 games in RF out of 934 in his career, with only a handful in RF since 2016. 39 of 60 at DH this past season, 19 in LF, 2 in RF. Love the bat, but probably not the best fit defensively. His 2020 probably prices him out of the Sox range anyway with pitching being the more pressing issue.
  2. What has Ozzie Guillen done for the White Sox since he quit on this team and subsequently got sacked by the team he negotiated a deal with while still employed by the White Sox? Nothing. Ozzie Guillen has done absolutely nothing to earn consideration for the Chicago White Sox managerial opening, nor any other vacant manager job. Nor has he taken a coaching role in any organization to try to work his way back. He's had 8, count them, 8 years to rehabilitate his reputation and earn consideration for any MLB job. Has he? No. Which is why he's doing pre & post game shows. Ozzie Guillen is not now nor will he ever be a candidate for the manager of the Chicago White Sox again. The End.
  3. Maybe because Giolio was already referred to as Gio on Soxtalk long before the Sox signed Gio Gonzalez? Gio Gonzalez had never pitched for the White Sox before 2020, why would we reserve a nickname for a player that had not been in the org for ages?
  4. Shifts don't really need to be fixed IMO, even as boring as it can be watching certain players predictably hit into them. Terrible balls & strike calls, blatantly inconsistent strike zones, and lengthy replay reviews do. I'd rather see that addressed before any tweaks to shifting.
  5. I would be ok with pretty much any nominal replacement level platoon partner with Engel if they can land the best available/acquirable pitching upgrades. The offense can make up for a poor hitting RF better than the pitching can cover multiple holes in the rotation.
  6. FIRST BASE Yuli Gurriel, Astros Matt Olson, A's Evan White, Mariners https://www.mlb.com/news/2020-gold-glove-finalists Abreu should be a candidate after his massive improvement...
  7. Rooting hard for TB, but it kinda feels like LA's year after the 3-1 comeback. Not ready for baseball to be over so I hope this goes 7.
  8. Assuming Yoan returns to his 2019 self, Robert has a more even sophomore season, Vaughn gives you a quality rookie year, and others maintain similar 2020 numbers you already have a pretty fantastic offense. RF is still a black hole but one you can hide easier than question marks in your rotation and pen. Option A would be a home run, but I think Option B gives you a bit more balance across the board with a bit more certainty.
  9. Give me a defense 1st veteran catcher over Collins and I'm cool it it. Add Quintana if possible. Though i think I'd prefer Stroman, Q, Vaughn DH/1B, vet catcher, and a Joc level stopgap in RF while retaining Colome to stabilize the back end of the pen. As nerve-racking as he is to watch close sometimes, nor sure I want to role into 2021 w/o someone proven in the closer role.
  10. We better hear pretty soon that he doesn't want the job or this running gag will stop being funny real quick...
  11. Whether Hahn himself is deserving this year is debatable, but the body of work the whole org has done to turn this team into a burgeoning contender deserves recognition and accolade.
  12. If that were the case it would be Jirschele, no? If they want to keep him in the org before he gets nabbed up by someone else. That's the only way TLR makes any damn sense to me.
  13. Are they trying to take some of the stink off of Hinch with someone who would be a terrible choice? I don't know. If the interest is actually real it is coming from JR and not Hahn IMO. Hinch and a bunch of the best candidates can't be interviewed yet. Going to La Russa before others can officially be interviewed would make the hiring even worse.
  14. I have no doubt that the Sox have reached out. I do have strong doubt that he will be the choice. When was the last time the Sox fed Nightengale something that actually ended up becoming true? Reaching out for an interview does not equate to intention to hire.
  15. He is signed through 2024 or thereabouts.
  16. https://tunein.com/podcasts/Sports--Recreation-Podcasts/Carmen-and-Jurko-p1135752/
  17. Basically laughed, said he was behind the times, and called LaRussa the worst possible hire
  18. Fathom posted the link, but here is the tweet: Maybe La Russa does want to get back into the dugout and JR is throwing his old friend a bone to get his name out there. I simply can't see him being a fit in the Sox dugout.
  19. That is the only role that would make any sense to me. And even then I'd be opposed to it.
  20. Bernstein was also real quick to talk on Monday about how La Russa seemed to be losing it a bit his last season with the Cards. Which was 9 years ago.
