  1. Fathom posted the link, but here is the tweet: Maybe La Russa does want to get back into the dugout and JR is throwing his old friend a bone to get his name out there. I simply can't see him being a fit in the Sox dugout.
  2. That is the only role that would make any sense to me. And even then I'd be opposed to it.
  3. Bernstein was also real quick to talk on Monday about how La Russa seemed to be losing it a bit his last season with the Cards. Which was 9 years ago.
  4. *IF*, it best be to groom their future manager. And even then, why do it? It's Jerry's choice to shoot himself in the foot if he wants, but it would be so very contrary to the forward modern progress the whole org has made during the rebuild.
  5. Hi is 76 and hasn't managed in nearly a decade, and it completely contradicts what Hahn just said was their ideal. I never watched StL enough to have an idea of how he managed then, let alone how he would manage now in the age of data.
  6. I will start to worry when someone other than Nightengale reports that La Russa is a frontrunner. I don't doubt that Tony and Jerry will have a lovely zoom call to catch up on old times, but I just can't see the hire happening.
  7. Bob's piece popped up yesterday not long after Hahn finished describing Hinch to a T. USA Today even published it as Opinion. I don't buy it for a second that the Sox are considering bringing La Russa out of retirement. Feels too much like classic Bob plant to give cover for pursuing Hinch.
  8. How does his baggage impact this young team? Does the past scandal hang over the Sox org? How does his level of involvement in the scheme impact/influence how he manages now? If he is the Sox choice I care more about these things. I think the whole Houston organization got off easy, but there is nothing I can do about it. I’m not here to root for the manager and there have been plenty of Sox managers I haven’t liked. I don’t have to be a fan of the man. If Hinch does a good job and they win with zero hint of any past shenanigans, I think his past for the most part fades away.
  9. Between what Hahn said in the presser, Stone said on the radio, and Keuchel's tweet, signs do seem to point to Hinch. I personally don't want him but if the FO does its due diligence and its clear that what happened in Houston stays there, I'll be ok with it.
  10. Ha ha ok Bob...
  11. Change? JR is aged and knows the window is now? Thats the change I see.
  12. It was speculated but never confirmed.
  13. Thanks for the memories Coop!
  14. I was expecting zero news and am over the moon now with how much info Hahn put out. Very very excited for the managerial/coaching search and to get FA underway!
  15. Native spanish speaker not a requirement.
  16. More likely the next manager will be from the outside.
  17. Kopech has been on a throwing program all winter and has been in contact with coaches and staff. Hahn said zero mystery with him.
  18. Hahn sung his praises but it didn't sound like he was optimistic that he would be back. Said they would continue to make it clear how much the appreciate him.
  19. Ryan McGuffy asks the pandemic econ question - not immune to the financial realities. Uncertain what next season will look like. Impact/market unknown right now.
  20. Can't help but feel like Cease & ReyLo flopping lead to Coop's exit.
