  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 11:16 AM) Cordell in April Kopech in May Jimenez in July Yup. I think Kopech gets up as soon as we secure the control year.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 11:19 AM) The biggest issue for him by far is conditioning. Last year with the Cubs and Sox orgs he threw 93.1 total innings. That is, for a starter, a miniscule number. If he stays healthy, he needs a full 2018 and a full 2019 season to build up that arm, and that's assuming no setbacks. If there are no setbacks, kid stays healthy for the next 2 years, then you could talk to me about a September or late 2019 callup. If he puts in a full minor league season, I could give him a couple of major league starts or use him in the bullpen in late 2019. If he's joining the starting rotation in 2019 out of ST after only throwing 120 innings this year, I'm going to say that something went very wrong, and he won't be there for long. While you're correct, his starts in our organization last year were also marred by absolutely pitiful defense. It was almost laughable how it followed him every start- he had to throw many more pitches in fewer innings because of it
  3. I know that the upcoming upgrade to the new Invision forum is more than just layout, but man, the current layout of this site is much better looking than the new ones such as talkbears
  4. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 1, 2018 -> 01:59 PM) Yeah, to me, this is the offseason where the mainstream press, in general, lost a lot of credibility on rumors. They showed us that in the absence of actual information, they will treat speculation the same as they would treat news. I'll listen to Rosenthal, the local Sox guys (Brian, Chuck Garfein, etc.), and... that's it.
  5. I could see him pulling a 2014 Kendrys Morales.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 28, 2018 -> 08:48 AM) To be fair to him, the prognosis improved. At first Burger's career was over. Who said that?
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 28, 2018 -> 09:44 AM) Because everyone did the same thing with Moustakas’ career stats...you just made the point for me, when we should have been looking at the 2015-2017 “full picture,” including the injury prognosis. Somehow a 4.4 WAR and a high 3’s/low 4’s pace at age 26 and 27 became a future mired at 2ish at best at the grizzled old age of 29. Can we also ignore Avi Garcia, Logan Morrison, Yonder Alonso and Chris Taylor pre 2017? Come on Caulfield, you have to see the obvious flaws in this argument.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Feb 27, 2018 -> 07:04 PM) He will hit 30 homers if he plays 130 games. Those guys serve a purpose, especially on a team that’ll be lucky to win 80 games. Like someone else said, he’s young. Why not give him a shot? He'll start the regular season being 27 years old. To me, the "he's a young guy, give him a chance" argument expires after you're 25. Sure, there are late bloomers, but as long as Davidson is a high strikeout, low on base percentage, poor defense guy, his value will be next to zero. In order to survive in this league as a poor defender/DH who can only hit home runs, you need to either get on base a lot or rarely strike out. Davidson does neither.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Feb 27, 2018 -> 05:45 PM) All this talk about who plays 3B. How about just leave Davidson there? Nah
  10. Cubs 6, Sox 5, final. Robert went 1-1, 1B, BB. Saladino had another good game on both sides of the ball- maybe he's finally healthy? Santiago had good movement and life over 3 innings of work. Fulmer got screwed over by his defense so much to the point where I can't put any stock into the results. He had to throw a lot more pitches early on than he should've.
  11. Narvaez's plate discipline and on base skills are frankly elite for the catcher position. I'd hope that we at least keep him as our backup for 2018, and see if he can improve defensively.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Feb 27, 2018 -> 04:38 PM) That's fair I think 15/15 is more reasonable for both I'd say 15/15 for Tim, 20/20 for Yoan
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 27, 2018 -> 02:31 PM) Fulmer looks ready This is more on our defense than him
  14. Are there any MLB position players who came back from this and were productive?
  15. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 06:11 PM) Probably especially with their starting pitchers. But I've heard the same stuff (no disrespect towards you) the past few years. My answer is the same...it doesn't matter how healthy the Yankees are or the Brewers or the Blue Jays. That doesn't directly impact the White Sox. So you expect the White Sox to magically be the most injury-free team in baseball every single year? That seems unrealistic. If we're consistently one of the healthiest teams each year, I see nothing to complain about.
  16. QUOTE (Wanne @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 04:20 PM) Good Lord does that suck...c'mon...2 down in a week. Also...I get the "hustle"...but I'd also let my big lumbering sluggers know....hey...you're not Usain Bolt. Hope the kid can bounce back...but this is pretty depressing. In his defense, he actually has some sneaky speed. Not the stereotypical slow slugger
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 08:38 AM) Obviously not overweighting defense. But the White Sox have historically pursued how many elite defenders with limited offensive upsides to play half their games at USCF? Andrelton was also a solid offensive player last year and finished 8th in MVP voting.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 11:27 AM) If you want to win brownie points for life, Hamilton really is about the best musical experience you will ever have. If the wife wants to see a broadway show, this is by far your best option. The music envokes the best of 80's/90's hip hop stylings while telling a story in such depth, intelligence and cleverness that is absolutely untouched by anything else I have ever seen done live before. I don't know if there are any other fans out there, but I am just blown away by the power of the show. ^
  19. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Feb 24, 2018 -> 10:29 AM) Keston Hiura just had this injury and DH'd through it. Why can't Micker do the same? That way he doesn't entirely lose the development time. Props
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 24, 2018 -> 11:21 PM) Differences of opinion make life interesting. Some of us are skeptical about the Sox front office. Differences of opinion, when based on little to no evidence and repeated ad nauseam, make life irritating
  21. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 09:13 AM) Right, this ^ What's the magic in month to month? Why not week to week? Half to half? Moving the endpoints around may make the numbers different, but they all add up to the same thing in the end. All that tells us is that Frazier's performance is more evenly distributed than Moustakas', but the whole performance still happened and still affected wins and losses the same way. The answer is to look at the whole season. and judge accordingly. While I agree with this post, I do find it ironic that you say this, yet have been using 50 plate appearances as a minimum for stats throughout this thread. Those 50 PA are even less significant than month to month, half to half, etc.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 21, 2018 -> 10:20 AM) If signing Manny Machado means the White Sox will not be able to add other big pieces, they are screwed anyway. It doesn't. Even if you add a $30 million AAV to our 2019 roster, you're still looking at under triple digits in terms of team payroll. We all know that Jerry is willing to go (and has gone) far above that number when we're trying to compete.
  23. I'd rather overpay for Machado's prime years than pay for Donaldson's age 33-37 years
  24. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 05:57 PM) Florida firesale continues. It must feel like such a relief to get traded by a team that plays in an ugly empty stadium. While our stadium is certainly not ugly, I don't get why I've recently seen Sox fans, both here and on Twitter, take jabs at other teams' attendance as if we're some sort of powerhouse in that arena
  25. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 07:36 PM) Bruce drilled him in a blowout game last year that cleared the benches. Thanks, didn't know that
