Saladino Appreciation Thread
What's most surprising to me about his season is how well he has hit.

We should use this type of lineup often
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 11:35 PM) Somebody brought this idea up last week at some point, can't remember who. But we agreed we needed another INF on the roster in order to actually make it up since there would be no back up INF if someone got tossed or injured I'm pretty sure I was that person, but I didn't feel like I had enough statistical backing at the time to actually make it a thread. Anyway, with Davidson on the way, he could fill in at 3rd if there was an injury, but that's not enough. L. Garcia could realistically be called up over the next couple months. Regardless, the likelihood of one of Frazier/Anderson/Lawrie exiting a game due to injury/ejection is extremely slim, but I do understand the desire to have insurance just in case.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 10:38 PM) I like playing Saladino at 3rd and DHing Frazier. When Melky comes back, it would work nicely. Saladino's a better player than Avi. You should check out the thread I just posted

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 10:30 PM) our team mindset is not a good one. We definitely lost all swagger that we had early early early on. I read an article yesterday that said quite the opposite. Shuck said that the early April energy is back and players are as loose as they were then

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 10:04 PM) And that was the wrong choice. Sox have to pick one this year, especially with the injuries that are in the pen and line up. If Sox stand pat, fans will be livid me included. Oh, I agree that it was a stupid choice. My point is, with this front office, you never know how dumb decision-making can get.

Last year we were in a similar spot, about 4 games back in the WC at the deadline. Did we buy or sell? We did neither. There's no guarantee that we do something.

If I, in mid-April, told you that Dan Jennings would have the lowest ERA on the team come June 29, you'd probably think Jones/Albers/Sale/Robertson/Quintana all hit the DL

We should use this type of lineup often
By "this type of lineup", I mean not wasting the DH spot on someone like Garcia or Coats and rather have Saladino play 3B, Frazier shift to 1B, and Abreu to DH, while keeping Anderson/Lawrie as the DP combo. I feel like Saladino's vastly offense plus his stellar defense surely helps the club in multiple ways, while eliminating DH at-bats (or, should I say, strikeouts) from Garcia and Coats and giving them to Abreu is obviously beneficial. Of course, a lot of this can change if Davidson is in fact called up, but for the time being, I'm a big fan of the Saladino/Anderson/Lawrie/Frazier infield with Abreu at DH.

Matt Davidson getting called up
I expect strikeouts, and lots of them, but hope he's successful nonetheless

Matt Davidson getting called up
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 07:42 PM) I would imagine that Purke goes down. I'd call up Davidson and Bourgeios or Leury and send Avi down too. Yeah, Bourgeios/Leury definitely deserve a shot this year too, mainly the former

Melky out 3-4 days
He left yesterday's game due to it. Out 3-4 days minimum

Of course Todd Frazier is hitting under .200
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) Posters were calling for his head last year. I think it did take him a year to adjust, to the league again and maybe the park. But he was still a decent hitter last year.
