  1. Chris Sale would like to see Mark Buehrle retire in a White Sox uniform
  2. At first I chalked it up to bad BABIP luck, but it seems like he's either always striking out or hitting weak choppers to the shortstop, so I don't really have an explanation for it.
  3. I fear we start Sale, he pitches a couple innings, and then, boom, 2 hour rain delay.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 08:13 PM) Thompson has finally fallen below the mythical 800 OPS number this year, and his average is nearing the .230's. Career OPS still of 839, but the real Trayce is returning, PROBABLY. This is the real Trayce. His fluky hitting ended.
  5. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 04:39 PM) lmao, RV and this bullpen is like dipping a rag in kerosene and giving it to a pyromaniac a long with a pack of matches. Game was there to win, RV pretended it wasn't for a minute, and that cost them. Yea the pen sucks but that just makes using it smartly even more important. This.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 04:30 PM) The crazy thing is we might have been closer (realistically) to contending last season at the end of July than we will be this year. That one "false" positive hot streak that caused Hahn not to sell off, but not to add, either. That still pisses me off. We should've either bought or sold, but doing absolutely nothing was simply stupid.
  7. If we kept Jennings for the 9th this game is probably tied
  8. Ceding the top of the ninth inning was a wonderful idea, Robin.
  9. SEVEN solo home runs, are you serious
  10. QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 03:52 PM) Yeah I got that... Ventura said he was available though. But then later on one of the announcers said a "scheduled day off" That's odd, considering it wasn't scheduled. I mean, it was scheduled the day before since he was injured and limping, but, to me, "scheduled day off" implies that it has been scheduled for more than a day.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 03:49 PM) Starting in inning 7 the challenge doesn't matter, the managers can politely ask the ump to review a play and the ump can decide yes or no. Genuinely makes some sense, you don't want to have a game decided on something a review would obviously catch. Understood. I think that could be a recipe for corruption, though, given that the umpire decides whether he wants a play reviewed with full knowledge of the team asking him, the standings, the big market teams, the in-game situation, etc.
  12. They lost the challenge on Frazier's infield single, correct? Why can they do this
  13. QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) I didn't like the day off yesterday at all.. not when he was actually getting hot. Maybe he is hurting. He's injured.
  14. Why can you challenge if you already lost one, are you kidding me
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 03:27 PM) Very nice outing by Beck With our tired bullpen, it's probably not over. Unless we go to Ynoa or Purke
  16. 2-0 on Saunders when the first 2 pitches were in the zone. edit- unless GameDay screwed up again
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) In this ballpark the yellow line is just there to provide a color contrast so that umps can see if a ball flies over the fence or not. The ball must actually clear the fence in this ballpark. Other places with the "Big vertical walls" use the yellow line differently and will have above it be out of the park. Ah, got it. Thanks
  18. re: Lawrie's first HR A ball that hits the yellow part of the fence is not an automatic HR? I thought it was
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 11:58 AM) Somebody started this conversation about pitch framing and now it's the rage on this board and we hear it all the time. I have never heard so much about it before although it sure helps on close pitches. You need to throw good pitches nipping the zone to be worried about pitch framing. Seems our hurlers aren't always that close. You need to throw strikes! The two catchers we have are doing a pretty darn good job defensively. Sale's called strike in zone percentage is down 13% from last year though. Framing is an issue.
  20. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 6m6 minutes ago Timeline for Justin Morneau is still post All-Star break.
  21. Sox Twitter trolls fans with caption, "Justin Morneau took a few hits in the cage today.", with a video attached. He takes a couple bunts, no swings. link
  22. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 12:13 AM) Massive pitch framing upgrade with a career best ISO and a career worst BABIP. I think he easily outperforms our current catching tandem. The pitch framing would be a clear upgrade, but his OBP is ridiculously low and Avila's is actually very solid. As for BABIP, I have developed less and less respect for that stat after watching Todd Frazier hit this season and seeing his BABIP in the .180s/.190s- his contact is seemingly often weak choppers now, so of course his BABIP should be quite low
