  1. Sox address pitching and outfield holes with acquisitions of Samardzija, Robertson, and Cabrera. Sox address infield and outfield holes with acquisitions of Lawrie, Frazier, and (outfielder). Deja vu. Hope it goes better this time. At least the Cubs have basically already "won the offseason", since that usually results in a sub .500 season.
  2. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 12:07 PM) I think there's too much weight being given to Todd's interleague splits by those down on this deal. You're looking at roughly half a season of at-bats over the last 4 years and trying to translate that to what we should expect...that's not fair. While he still struggled during interleague last season, he hit much better than he had the previous two which tells me that he may have become more familiar with the pitching...but again, sample size, so who knows. He's a talented player and is filling a position that has been a black hole on this team for nearly a decade. Even slashing .250/.310/.450 with ~25hr per season with decent D will serve as a HUGE upgrade for the Sox. This also allows us to fill another perpetual black hole at 2b with another solid bat in Lawrie. Fantastic moves that didn't cost us much in the way of talent. I don't know if that will happen.
  3. QUOTE (shysocks @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:56 AM) If Melky gets his s*** together that is swoon-worthy. Melky seemed to be getting it together as the season progressed. One of the best memories this season is that big July winning streak where we'd put up 7-10 runs per game and Melky went 18-35.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:55 AM) Shuck can't touch Thompson defensively. And prior to last season, his bat wasn't that great either. Not true, Shuck had a great rookie year hitting-wise.
  5. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:38 AM) Which one of them is LH? neither
  6. If last offseason taught me anything, it's to have the lowest expectations. .230/23/57
  7. A bit surprising considering Micah had been doing lots of charity work for us this offseason. Thought that may have meant something
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) What are the Dodgers going to do with Trayce? 6th OF behind Puig, Ethier, Crawford, Pederson and Van Slyke? I guess so
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:47 AM) Not sure JB Shuck is much worse than Thompson, if at all Agreed.
  10. Wow. Great news. Of course it happened during the one 45-minute period of the day in which I can't look at my phone.

    Alright begin

    Xavier Nady would say so
  12. QUOTE (striker @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 08:02 PM) I want Jake Lamb. Sounds like he could be had with Drury able to take his place. Interesting 3B candidate who should be relatively cheap. Lawrie could slide to 2B. A back-up plan if we don't land Frazier, perhaps?
  13. I agree that you should check the browser. For me, I don't use Safari, can't watch videos on Firefox, but I can on Chrome. Seems backwards, I know.
  14. The article suggests trading Quintana, but it's hard to keep wasting Sale/Abreu in their primes. I'd either go all in or all out, meaning if I trade Quintana for a non-Earth shattering return, I'd blow it up and trade Sale/Abreu too.
  15. RIP point streak... had to end with Varlamov in net. Only fitting
  16. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 09:10 PM) DeMarcus Cousins is a bit of fools gold to me. His Usage Rate is Off the Charts and he's only shooting 43% for the season, which for a big man is terrible. Now in the right system and with the right players around him, he's an All - Star, but if you ask him to carry your team, you're going to end up like Sacramento and in mediocrity for a number of years. To be fair, his lower 2015-2016 shooting % is due to the fact that he now takes 4.0 3-pointers a game at 30%, as opposed to 0.0 per game for the rest of his career.

    Alright begin

    Very gladly. *stubs toe* "G'OH!"
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 05:01 PM) Don't see how it's any different than any other site that cites a reference (in this case a tweet). That's all mlbtr is. True, but Sports Mockery is terrible. They once cited me as a source for a Bears rumor. They've cited other posters on here as well.

Should, but won't. Can, but can't. Would, but... shorn't
  20. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) Sports Mockery just posted that the Sox are in on Cespedes, FWIW. Not worth anything. It's Sports Mockery.

    Alright begin

Question- why is my "g'oh" at fault when it was posted first?
