  1. This is all unlikely, but this would be interesting. 2015 offseason- Sox acquire Nolan Arenado for Jose Quintana, Frank Montas, Micah Johnson, and Spencer Adams 2016 infield- Arenado/Ramirez/Sanchez/Abreu 2017- Arenado/Anderson/Sanchez/Abreu That would be one of the league's best all-around infields, especially with Saladino coming off the bench.
  2. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) That's what I'm saying. He is a beast. He is 25 already, but he is very young in baseball years. He is making a mockery of high A so far. Its hard to evaluate him because he is obviously more physically mature than people he's playing, but he is younger in baseball years than most of them Why haven't we promoted him to AA? That's what confuses me.
  3. QUOTE (kwill @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) My problems with Sanchez: 1. He does not walk at a good rate. 2. He does not steal any bases 3. He does not hit for any power. If Micah is healthy than he has to play. If he can bring that bat to the majors, the fielding will come with more reps. Micah will never come close to Sanchez's fielding. Also, second base is not a power hitting position.
  4. I really wish ERA wasn't as valued as it is. All of the "Arrieta vs Sale" talk during the Cubs series was only a thing because of ERA. FIP is really much more valuable, as are the other advanced pitching metrics.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 12:50 PM) Nah, it's because this is his first full season of pro-ball after not playing for so long due to the Olympics. He's got good defensive tools and he prides himself on defense, so he's been frustrated this year by the errors. He says they're mostly mental. Ah, I see. Thanks.
  6. Micah was hitting .270 in the Majors, so it's not like he was struggling mightily or anything.
  7. Wow, I didn't realize Alvarez has a career .419 OBP. That's crazy. He has incredible speed too. Only at high-A though, must be due to defense.
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 11:18 AM) The only infielder in the system with the chance at having a plus bat is Anderson. A lineup can deal with one guy like Sanchez who is excellent defensively and terrible offensively, but not two guys like that. Except Sanchez also has the chance of having a plus bat. He isn't terrible offensively by any means.
  9. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 10:31 AM) I've been saying ,280 and I'm being conservative. Post AS Game he is the highest hitter in the lineup at .319 and since his dreadful May and June he's at .303. He really has a chance to be great. I'm surprised he's not talked about more.
  10. Sanchez long-term SS, Anderson long-term 2B, and our long-term 3B will be acquired through a trade, IMO. Still not sold on Anderson's defense at SS, while Sanchez played as much SS as he did 2B in the minors. Johnson would be traded, Saladino would be a bench player.
  11. Good win. Saladino, Sanchez, and Flowers were very good.
  12. Carlos Sanchez has been hitting very well lately. We know his defense is elite, but if he keeps hitting, he'll be a MLB starter for a long time.
  13. Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien 22s22 seconds ago Will Sale win the Cy Young? If the season ended today, and you're asking "Who is the best pitcher in the American League?" It's Sale.
  14. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 3m3 minutes ago Chris Sale may have a 3.34 ERA but also leads the AL in Fielding Independent Pitching (2.36). Means, yes, he should be squarely in Cy race.
  15. Seattle's 'pen was good last year. Tonight, every reliever I've seen has a >5 ERA.
  16. Credit where credit's due, great AB Flowers
  17. Hey, even LaRoche gets a hit
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 11:24 PM) -4.1 offense I stand corrected then. That is a little surprising to me. It's not like he's on pace for 200 strikeouts or struggling to stay above .200.
  19. Fernando Rodney is so inconsistent... he'll have a great year and then a terrible year
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 11:20 PM) 51st out of 56 in terms of fWAR for outfielders. He's basically been as bad as Melky and Avi this year. I wasn't talking about defense, though. I'm sure his fWAR is so bad mostly because of his defense.
  21. If I'm Robin, I'd go Jones-Robertson. But I feel like he'll put Sale back out
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 11:16 PM) He's horrible .249/16/46 is not horrible for a #6 hitter.
  23. Comes back with a couple strikeouts. 14 thru 7
  24. Mark Trumbo really is an ideal #6 hitter
