  1. At least we showed some fight in the 9th
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 02:24 PM) Anyone have a GoPro? Thinking about picking one up for a vacation. I don't really do any action sports other than biking. But I thought it might be cool to take to amusment parks, the beach, bike rides, hikes, etc. I don't know much about them. The bare bones option is $130, the top of the line is $500, plus accessories. I assume there's quite a leap in functionality between the two, but I wonder if that really matters to an amateur user like me. Nah, the $130 should be fine for you. A friend of mine has it, it's as advertised.
  3. Jeff Samardzija leads MLB in hits allowed and earned runs allowed.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 10:06 PM) Danks has been average to below average this year. If it wasn't for his shoulder problems, he could have been one of the better Sox pitchers of the past decade. He was absolutely money in 2008 and had 4 seasons where he put up 3.7 WAR per season on average. My point was that he's a longtime Sox pitcher who has been overall average due to those good seasons and his below average seasons now; and he is definitely not the most hated player in White Sox history. He's closer to most beloved player in Sox history than most hated.
  5. Surprised to see Keppinger/Dunn (who I liked off the field) but no Belisario
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 08:08 PM) Navarro is #1 ..............John Danks #2 John Danks has been an average pitcher for us for 9 years. The only reason he's disliked now, in year 9, is because of his contract.
  7. Trading Quintana is all speculation at this point... I don't know why some of you think it's 100% going to happen
  8. Abreu batting 2nd, Saladino 9th. Flowers catching Samardzija.
  9. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Aug 23, 2015 -> 09:00 PM) This is a great topic, and honestly one where I've gone back and forth over and over on. Also why I'm glad I'm not Hahn. It's such a puzzle -- and dominoes in a way. Honestly, the best move long term may be to let Ramirez walk this off-season. However, I think that seriously hurts our ability to win next year as well. Yes, there are a lot of Ramirez naysayers. I still think he's a very good SS. And when people look at his power numbers they neglect his doubles numbers. Moving on to the question though. Saladino -- I think it's a waste to have him starting on this team next year. He is not a long term option starting on a team where there are other holes. Sure if you have the Toronto Blue Jays lineup, a Saladino is actually a very good piece to the puzzle. Not on this team, and not our future teams. We just don't have the offense. He should be our utility guy however. Perfect bench guy. Perfect fill in. Can play all the positions, speed, plays the game right. Want him on my 25 man roster. Not starting. Sanchez -- Saladino 2.0. Younger, slightly better. Still on the fence. The Sanchez we saw earlier this season? I don't think is the real Sanchez. The one were seeing now? Probably not either. I think he can be a .275-.280 guy with defense, but very limited in power, doubles, speed, etc. Again, hard to have that kind of guy starting 162 on an ideal playoff contending team year in and year out when you have the other holes we all know this team has and will continue to have elsewhere. Micah -- I really like him. Just ... no defense. Can you live with him and Anderson up the middle in the future? Unfortunately I don't think you can. You can't have those guys behind Sale, Q, Rodon, Fulmer ... its just not fair to the strength of our team. If you want to hear something out of the box. Why not DH? I'm tired of rules having to be followed because thats the way its been done in the past. The guy is an offensive MLB player. He can be a .290-.300ba guy, not much power, but can also run the paths. I think honestly this is a good role. I'd want to explore it. Anderson -- I do believe he should be the 2B or SS of the future. As long as a Sanchez up the middle, Anderson can be there. 3B -- the key. I think we really need to explore a solid option there. We haven't had a 3B, a real one, since Crede. That's a decade. So I guess in the end I want. 2016: 3b? trade hopefully Arenado!! pipedream -- ss Ramirez -- 2b Sanchez DH - Micah, UTIL - Saladino 2017: Arenado, SS - Sanchez, 2B - Anderson, DH - Micah, UTIL - Saladino Good post. I agree with your stance on the DH and Micah being a potential candidate for it. I also agree that Micah and Anderson would be a bad defensive middle-infield. As for Sanchez, did you know he has 20 doubles this year? I was surprised to learn that. As I said in my previous post, he does have some speed, too. His only real issue is power, but he's a second baseman. Power isn't really needed from that position.
  10. Where do you guys get the idea that Sanchez is slow? Just because he doesn't steal bases doesn't mean he doesn't have any speed.
  11. Well there it is. The optimist in me says we're still 3-1 in our last 4.
  12. That was so outside!! In the other batter's box
  13. Closer brought in during the 7th inning???
  14. Albers has a 2.01 ERA. He has been much better than expected, however in a pseudo-long relief role.
  15. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Aug 23, 2015 -> 04:12 PM) Hate to break it to you but sox are 17-18 since the all star break. if they went 25-21 they would be at .500. right now they are 5 under Just quoting Chuck Garfein's tweet.
  16. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 23, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) Yea! If we grind him a bit more next inning maybe he only goes 6 and we get to play teeball for 3 innings That's probably our intention, actually. Long AB's so we can face their tired, horrendous bullpen
  17. Liking the long at-bats
  18. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 23, 2015 -> 01:51 PM) With respect I disagree. Catching is almost a black hole. Add in the poor defense from both Flowers and Soto and you have a real issue in my opinion. Soto would make a good back up playing once or twice a week but no more than that. Flowers is simply a lost cause. Mark Their defense can be improved, but offensively, the Flowers/Soto combo when combined offensively is about league-average. While Flowers is below average offensively, catching has become such a weak hitting position that Flowers is actually an average hitter for a catcher.
  19. Didn't realize this is Danks' 9th year with the Sox. If we don't trade him, then he'll hit his 10th year next year. Time flies. He's the longest tenured current Sox player. Alexei is 2nd, this is his 8th year. Edit- And this is Sale's 6th. But his first 2 were as a reliever.
  20. Nikola Mirotic has been told he will have an increased role this year. I don't see how that can be possible. Even if we played Gasol/Noah just 28 minutes each, that would leave just 20 minutes each for Gibson and Nikola. And 0 for Portis. I still think we need to trade a big. And don't say put Niko at SF. We saw that last year. That took away all of his offensive advantages.
