QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 30, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) He has been so far this year...still doesn't mean I wouldn't want Sale going forward. Advanced stats say Sale is having the better year. of course this is right now. Tomorrow morning, it could be different

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) So what many of us thought would happen....did happen. Atleast we decided to hold onto Shark for a draf.......nothing. When we were 49-51 and a few games back of the WC, we should have either sold or bought. Standing pat was a terrible decision.- White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 09:33 PM) Cmon. I can start listing guys WAY worse than Danks on this team. Danks has at least competed and given effort start in and out. Some of these everyday players are stealing money (again) this season. Melky competes and gives effort start in and out as well. Perhaps Danks isn't the biggest issue on the team, I suppose some of my picking on him was because I was replying to you, but Melky isn't the biggest problem either.- Pick to Click, Sunday, August 30th at 12:10 PM MDT

QUOTE (Saufley @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) So, who do the Sox get to make those savvy signings? I don't know. Obviously not Rick Hahn. Dombrowksi would have been nice.- White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 02:26 PM) Excellent post. Melky is a big-time problem. Got to somehow get rid of him. If anyone on this team is a "big-time problem", it's John Danks, not Melky.- White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 12:10 PM) Someone wil be glad to take Laroche. He has a good hitting history before 2015 and has a gold glove defense. We took a chance on him and I am sure someone else would too. Now saying that if we keep him that's fine with me too They'll be glad to take him... if we pay at least 90% of his contract.- White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 11:29 AM) 141st out of 155 qualified hitters in terms of fWAR. He's sucked this year. That's because of his s***ty first two months. He's had a fine year.- White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 10:27 AM) Seriously. I'm not too worried about Melky going forward. Think his 1st half was just one of those bizarre stretches that can never be explained but ultimately mean nothing in terms of future performance. Agreed.- White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 10:25 AM) Sure it was. More money more years, gave up a draft pick. People act like he's producing offensively. He's not. He is also a lousy defender. Laroche is a good defender but the Sox aren't using what little value he has. We're done with Laroche after one more year. They could cut him in the spring. More years and more money because he's a better player. He is a lousy defender, but we knew that when we signed him. Melky had a terrible first couple months, but that was an anomaly. He had a rough start to August, too, but he has bounced back. He has produced offensively, LaRoche has not. We signed them both solely for offense, and Cabrera has provided more of it. Thus, Cabrera signing > LaRoche signing.- White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 09:49 AM) The problem is Laroche and Melky were very likely to Decline. Melky was the worse signing. More money more years, gave up a pick, bad on defense. Melky was a worse signing than LaRoche? Lmao ok.- 8/28 7:10 PM White Sox (Danks) v. Mariners (Walker)
boring game for us- 8/28 7:10 PM White Sox (Danks) v. Mariners (Walker)
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) How can you possibly look at this team and think they can make a run? They're pathetic. Year in year out. At this point, they're done. 30 days ago, I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking we could make a run. We had the same record as the now likely-playoff bound Rangers- White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) I have no idea why you'd do a rebuild when you have a potentially elite rotation locked up cheaply for the next four years. It honestly makes no sense to me. I do find it humerous that many on here cite the Cubs' rebuild as proof that it's the correct strategy. However, people fail to acknowledge that only two of their important major league players are a direct result of sucking for multiple years (Bryant & Schwarber). Rizzo was stolen in a prospect for prospect trade. Russell was given up in one of the most mind-boggling trades in recent memory (for a guy the Cubs wanted to sign to a long-term extension). Soler was an amateur international free agent signing. Arrieta was the result of an incredible trade deadline deal. Lester & Hammel were free agent signings. Hell, Fowler, Coghlin, & Montero, three of their top 5 position players based on fWAR, were savvy pickups. Point I'm trying to make is the lengthy rebuild route isn't the primary reason for their success. Shrewd trades and signings have provided them much more value this season. Given the talent we already have in place, there is absolutely no reason to blow things up and start from scratch. More often than not, rebuilding doesn't work out. Good post. With a better FO, this team could be so much better. We have the pieces. We just need those savvy signings you mentioned. - 8/30 Sox vs. Mariners Game Thread
