  1. My fear would actually be that TLR plays Leury types over him because of his strikeout rate (even if he's playing well)
  2. Moncada and Grandal had objectively good to great seasons at the plate last year, and about half of the posts I read about them during the season were negative
  3. Agree with all of the names mentioned above, and also want to include Kohl Simas, Wilfred Veras (his power surge over the last month or so has been fun to track), and to a lesser extent, Matthew Thompson, whose peripherals have at least been decent in A+ despite being quite young for the level
  4. I don't feel strongly either way, but I think one could make a decent argument that Happ has a better/at least similar track record. If Benintendi wasn't once a big name in a big market, he's just a league average corner outfielder with one great season (2018) and a bunch of mediocre otherwise
  5. It would be such a departure from the usual deadline strategy, but I'd love buying low on guys like him so that you give yourself some chance this season without having to trade Montgomery types. At the end of the day, unless you're trading for Juan Soto or Luis Castillo, the success of this season will depend on the core players already on the roster. Might as well buy low on high upside guys in case the core group clicks. If Gallo comes here and sucks, then he's just lefty AJ Pollock with better defense
  6. I was thinking along the same lines. Would probably have to be Kopech, Vaughn, Montgomery+ though, right? The potential inclusion of Corbin is what messes things up, as I don't see any way Reinsdorf takes on both salaries (even if the Nats kick in cash)
  7. Sharing from another thread, but Bowden says Sox are talking to the Nats about Soto
  8. Admittedly I haven't been checking the board as often as I normally do, but it feels like the Oscar Colas hype is getting out of control. His start in AA is definitely encouraging, but I still don't think he has the juice that Montgomery or a younger prospect might have
  9. Completely agree. The ask for Reynolds last year was Vaughn and Kopech. Could that probably have been negotiated down to something like Vaughn and Crochet and prospects, sure, but he's way better/more valuable than people think. You aren't getting him for anything headlined by a (White Sox) minor leaguer
  10. True, but in his last 13 appearances he’s at 13.1 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 19 K. Still impressive. Of all players/coaches to complain about right now, he’s probably the last one deserving of it other than Cease
  11. He hasn’t allowed a single run in 60 days
  12. Ironically, this is the first year Moncada has done exactly that, and it's also the first year he has missed significant (as in more than a few weeks) time
  13. Only the White Sox would base the near future of their (arguable) top prospect off a literal one game sample. It really sucks for Sosa, too. You get called up for the first time in your career only to be told you're starting just one game, and it if doesn't go well, you're probably back to the minors
  14. Good call
  15. The way ownership thinks about it isn't "what a disappointing season, Tony deserves some blame." IMO, it's "what a disappointing season, now imagine how much worse it would be if we didn't have Tony running the show!"
  16. I'm guessing the former. But Duber actually asked him a "tough" question yesterday, so you never know
  17. I definitely hope it snowballs somehow. The organization deserves the embarassment. And when asked about it postgame, I hope the reporters don't just ask about the decision, but also point out that Muncy is a better hitter against LHP for his career than RHP
  18. It feels so weird that an opposing player just cussed out the manager of my favorite team, and I'm 100% on the side of the player
  19. If we are to assume that he won't be re-signed, then it feels like a no-brainer to me. You could get the catcher of the future, one of their top 100 pitching prospects and a lefty bat (Busch?) prospect all in one swing rather than the comp pick after next season
  20. Really pleasantly surprised by that. I was not expecting them to treat the topic with the nuance it deserves
  21. I know these are jokes to some extent, but it really is a good strategy for teams hosting the White Sox to postpone games rather than delaying/hoping for a window. I'm being 100% serious when I say it gives the team playing the White Sox a competitive advantage
  22. We have Gavin Sheets already. What more could you want?
  23. This is my hope, that they're just taking it easy and that this won't be the season-long distribution (now 15 starts for McGuire, 13 for Grandal). It's telling that the only people who are happy with the arrangement are only the ones who never liked him in the first place. It's wild to me every time I come back here and see that the view is still so prevalent considering how good he was last year
