Sox acquire Jeff Samardzija and Michael Ynoa
Jose Abreu replied to Rooftop Shots's topic in Pale Hose Talk
At least we know there's definitely something here. MLBTR picked it up about 20 minutes ago, and the Tim Anderson deleted tweet still has me confused. -

QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) That would be a hell of a coincidence in my opinion. And then to take it down after the fact? Well yes, to take it down because of the "good luck in Oakland" replies. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 11:04 AM) So the question is did he delete it because he realized he would cause a s*** storm and he meant something else, or because he is really traded and is not supposed to let it go public until it is announced. Exactly, that's the question. Maybe his girlfriend broke up with him, maybe his car broke down, maybe he overcooked his pizza. Like another posted already mentioned, it could be another Marquis Teague situation. -

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 10:41 AM) If I had to chose, gimme Upton with an extension over Samardjiza. I know Upton is less likely but a 3,4,5 of Abreu, LaRoche, Upton is pretty solid. It would be a lot more than pretty solid. I feel like Samardzija is being a bit overrated here while Justin Upton, or at least his hitting, is being underrated. -

Semien just seems like a Billy Beane type of player. Isn't he from Oakland? -

From a guy with a blue check mark: John Hickey @JHickey3 13m13 minutes ago #Athletics talking with #Braves about Justin Upton, Evan Gattis sources say. Jeff Samardzija may be the bait. -

Is the guy who tweeted that legit? https://twitter.com/search?f=realtime&q...ja&src=tyah just gives me Samardzija to the Braves rumors. -

@themadhouse750 Athletics, Red Sox, and Reds discussing a trade with centerpieces revolving around Jeff Samardzija, Cespedes, and Latos. I don't know who this guy is. Has anyone else heard this? -

I'd have to guess that it's Boston. -
Also, how did we pull this off so quietly? I feel like there was no warning that this was coming before that tweet.
-
So it won't be announced today?
-
I know we've had two signings in the last six days, but I feel like we need a new rumor or something.

Yoenis Cespedes traded to Detroit for Rick Porcello

QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) Holy s***, they make it sound like it's a sure thing. Wow. I don't think they listened to your tweet lol (assuming you're @Dunt1) -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 11:40 AM) If Bogaerts and Cespedes are the throw-ins to go along with Pedroia and Owens, then sure, that's plenty reasonable. I still wouldn't even accept that but that's really because I'm not trading Sale for anyone not named Mike Trout, Clayton Kershaw, or Giancarlo Stanton -
QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 23, 2014 -> 07:20 PM) Semien is 100%, without a doubt, the best MIF prospect in our system. I think Tim Anderson's a much better prospect...
-
If he's traded, I feel like many of you will have learn very early in the season how much we'll miss Alexei's defense.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 09:13 PM) 1. Eaton CF 2. Ramirez SS 3. Gillaspie 3B 4. Abreu 1B 5. LaRoche DH 6. Garcia LF 7. Viciedo/FA Signing RF 8. Semien 2B 9. Flowers C Already better than last year Much of that is thanks to the fact that Dunn and Beckham are absent from it

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 09:06 PM) I agree with the needs. Although I think we only need one more reliever. It's possible. The following pitchers could potentially be/will be relievers in the near future: Chris Bassitt Scott Carroll Zach Duke Onelki Garcia Javy Guerra Nate Jones Jake Petricka Zach Putnam Andre Rienzo Erik Surkamp Daniel Webb Scott Snodgress I don't know how I'd feel with the best of those, say Opening Day- Duke, Petricka, Putnam, Surkamp, Guerra, and Webb, plus a FA as my relievers. The bullpen cost us many games last year, and I'd feel more comfortable with multiple, cheap, "see if it sticks on a wall" type of reliever signings.
-
I think the next move will be for a bullpen guy, but the one after will be much bigger. Maybe Melky or Upton. And I feel like we may try to use Petricka or Guerra as closer, but I'm not opposed to signing K-Rod or Robertson at a reasonable price.
-
LHRP LH DH LH OF RHSP RP RP I think these are the remaining moves we make, possibly a few more cheap ones. The OF doesn't necessarily need to be left handed anymore. That could make him easier to find. (Another infielder or a catcher are also possible but unlikely moves at this point, unless they come via a Ramirez trade.)
-
I agree with those of you saying that a "splash" move is coming. If not, I don't know who we'd take off the 40.
