White Sox sign Adam LaRoche
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 09:06 PM) I agree with the needs. Although I think we only need one more reliever. It's possible. The following pitchers could potentially be/will be relievers in the near future: Chris Bassitt Scott Carroll Zach Duke Onelki Garcia Javy Guerra Nate Jones Jake Petricka Zach Putnam Andre Rienzo Erik Surkamp Daniel Webb Scott Snodgress I don't know how I'd feel with the best of those, say Opening Day- Duke, Petricka, Putnam, Surkamp, Guerra, and Webb, plus a FA as my relievers. The bullpen cost us many games last year, and I'd feel more comfortable with multiple, cheap, "see if it sticks on a wall" type of reliever signings.

Predict The Next Move
I think the next move will be for a bullpen guy, but the one after will be much bigger. Maybe Melky or Upton. And I feel like we may try to use Petricka or Guerra as closer, but I'm not opposed to signing K-Rod or Robertson at a reasonable price.

White Sox sign Adam LaRoche
LHRP LH DH LH OF RHSP RP RP I think these are the remaining moves we make, possibly a few more cheap ones. The OF doesn't necessarily need to be left handed anymore. That could make him easier to find. (Another infielder or a catcher are also possible but unlikely moves at this point, unless they come via a Ramirez trade.)

I agree with those of you saying that a "splash" move is coming. If not, I don't know who we'd take off the 40.

Sox sign Melky Cabrera
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 11:11 AM) Sign Melky and hopefully the Sox can pick up another starting corner outfielder No faith in Avi Garcia?

Rodon's Role In 2015
QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 12:49 PM) Anyone else look back at Sale being in the pen in 2011 as a colossal waste of his talent? A lot of the reasoning behind the decision was that Will Ohman was our primary LHRP, so that needed to be fixed. We already had Buehrle, Danks, Floyd, Peavy, and Humber/Jackson in the rotation. So I think you could make the argument for Sale starting over Humber, and if not, Sale definitely should've gotten most of the 11 starts given to Zach Stewart and Dylan Axelrod.

Poll is back and hopefully easier to understand.

Rodon's Role In 2015
Tried clearing up the poll to make it less confusing.

Rodon's Role In 2015
Now that we have Zach Duke signed as a LHRP, what do you think Carlos Rodon should do next season? I feel like he could benefit from a reliever role like Sale did, but I know that some of you would want him to start or stay in the minors. What do you think? (Edit- new, clearer poll)

White Sox sign Zach Duke, 3 years, $15 million
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 01:22 PM) Contract way high to me that's a lot for a LHR. Just wait until Miller signs...

He was an all-star in 2009

White Sox sign Zach Duke, 3 years, $15 million
QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 01:14 PM) Too lazy to go back and quote the posts, but Wite's posts about pitch usage and the other talks of him changing his delivery last year has taken me from meh to somewhat excited. I'd still love one of Robertson, KRod, Janssen, Soriano, Romo, or Miller to close. Casey Janssen's a FA? Why has he not been brought up at all?

At a facility with blocked Wi-Fi, so I can't read the Facebook note link. Is that their way of announcing it, or do you still think there's more coming?

Dodgers aggressively pursuing Alexei
I don't see us making a trade that soon, though. And FYI, if you keep refreshing this thread, go to PHT because we just signed Zach Duke

Beat me to it. Good signing

I think this deal would benefit from having a third team if we're getting an MLB OF. It's also what Hahn likes to do, so maybe we'll see another team involved soon to possibly take on some money and receive an MLB player (as opposed to a minor leaguer).

Dodgers aggressively pursuing Alexei
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:23 AM) Absolutely not. This trade needs to help us in the future. Youth. If we want today, keep Alexei. Wouldn't Hahn's recent comments lead you to believe that we do want to win now?

Abreu finishes 4th in MVP voting
Oh, what I would give for him to not be 28 on Opening Day next year...

Chris Sale
Kluber edged Hernandez. Sale got 3rd.

Andrew Miller signs with Yankees
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 06:31 PM) No one is going to spend 8-10 mill on a loogy. He wouldn't have to be the closer but he'd certainly be used for more than just tough lefties. Maybe not specifically a LOOGY, but I wouldn't want him to pitch an inning with a lefty and two righties due up. Maybe he could pitch a full inning if there are at least two lefties due up, but who knows what Robin would do.

Andrew Miller signs with Yankees
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 05:57 PM) He's the #1 closer on the market I'd want the Sox to go after....even if he's never done it before. His stuff is that good. Isn't K-Rod on the market? Either way, if we signed him, I'd hope that his role would just be a LHRP and not the closer. I'd want him to be the guy we bring in to face Joe Mauer and those lefties late in games, sort of like what Scott Downs was supposed to do this year.

"I want ___" but really have nothing substantial to back it
Mike Trout. But realistically, Mat Latos.
