Jose Abreu

Not that I expected to win this game, but I at least expected us to try

7-0 already. I can't believe I had such high hopes for this season.

Wow. This defense really blows

Patriots starting at their own 45... we know how this is going to end.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 25, 2014 -> 08:27 AM) While Sierra is such a small piece that we probably shouldn't draw any conclusions from letting him go, I can't help but think this means we plan on adding two starting-caliber OFs this offseason and going with a rotating DH. In that event, having a strong defensive-minded 5th OF that can play all three positions makes a lot of sense. I see the role being late-inning defensive replacement, pinch runner, occasional pinch hitter, and Adam Eaton fill-in when he inevitably gets hurt. Sierra simply doesn't fill that role as well Danks does. Why would we add two starting caliber OFs? With Eaton and Garcia penciled in, we could add one in left... but then we have DV and Danks and your other guy you wanted to add on the bench. Shouldn't we only keep 4 OFs on the MLB roster? Or did you plan on trading Viciedo?

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 23, 2014 -> 12:35 PM) Did you watch any Sox games this past year? QUOTE (shysocks @ Oct 23, 2014 -> 12:56 PM) Systems disagree on him drastically. Just looking at the Fangraphs leaderboard, Eaton is 21st in DRS and he's the only guy in the top 50 with a negative UZR. Gordon Beckham is the next one at 59th. That's exactly why I asked. Thanks, shysocks

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 23, 2014 -> 12:35 PM) Did you watch any Sox games this past year? I know he made highlight plays, but I mean statistically.

Was Eaton's defense really that good?

Wouldn't it make more sense if he had voted for Adam Eaton? He only played 66 games in 2013 so I don't know if he qualifies as a rookie.

The Semien thing is funny. And yes, Beckham won this in 09

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 15, 2014 -> 10:09 PM) what are your opinions on these possible pickup on the free agents? Edinson Volquez, Andrew Bailey, Jason Grilli, Burke Badenhop all pitchers who might be a buy low with high rtn. yes, no, no, maybe If Volquez is available for the right price, we should go for him. An incosistently above-average RHP to break up the lefties

Do we know when awards like Cy Young, ROY, GG, etc. will be announced?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2014 -> 12:12 PM) If it just happened, odds aren't very good that he is able to be on a MLB roster by April 1m, 2015. Really? It took Abreu 3-4 months.

Markakis, Eaton, and Avisail is actually a decent defensive outfield. Isn't Markakis a gold glove RF though (not LF)?

Alex Rios anybody?

He's also a gold glover at 1B.

"Multiple media sources are reporting that Washington will decline Adam LaRoche's 2015 option." Should we give him a chance? He's 34, so hopefully on a 2 or 3 year deal, and he's that LH 1B/DH we'll need.

"Let's Go Hawks" chants in Dallas

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 12:32 PM) I think Tomas is going to San Diego I agree, that's what all the reports are saying.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 12:26 PM) If Sox do manage to get Tomas and stick him in LF, I think adding Cargo would be even more beneficial because it gives you another OF that could spell Garcia or Tomas to fill in at DH, and the lefty bat we are looking for. CF Eaton SS Ramirez 1B Abreu DH Gonzalez LF Tomas RF Garcia 3B Gillaspie 2B Semien C Flowers That's a pretty damn good line up. Who is Gonzalez? Andy Gonzalez?

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 08:24 PM) Q for Puig!!! Buy your Puig jersey now Sox fans! Puig, Abreu, Ramirez, Viciedo, Nieto. Sign Tomas... try and do everything we can to sport an all-Cuban lineup

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 09:40 AM) It originates with the mentality of "We're the Red Sox, we can have whatever we want." It's a very arrogant personality trait true of many Red Sox fans. Frankly though, it's true of a lot of sports fans in general. To name a few: Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers, Lakers, Celtics, Patriots, 49ers... basically the big market East/West coast teams.

The "trade Chris Sale" discussion has always been controversial here on SoxTalk, and while I would never trade him, the offer this Boston fan proposed is insulting.

Now what?

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 03:04 PM) I've never seen a dumber special teams group. They have no clue what they're doing out there.
