  1. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 09:48 PM) Why? Because I feel like those stats, especially AVG, are more indicative of how good of a hitter is. OBP as well.
  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 09:39 PM) Okay, but you are also ignoring the face that Cutch strikes outs less, and walks a lot more. His OBP is .399. Oh yeah, and he has 17 SB too. Baserunning is a factor in Offensive WAR as well. My mistake, I thought that baserunning, hitting, and defense were all separate categories. Either way, I still think that the massive HR/RBI/AVG difference should be more heavily weighted, although I do agree that McCutchen has the advantage when it comes to OBP.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 09:38 PM) I like the idea, but I doubt you could get someone like Latos for that package Maybe not quite as good as Latos. I'm saying in-between a Gavin Floyd and Latos.
  4. Tomas will be in the $100M range. Now, I know that this could take away from our budget, but I don't think that we can waste prime years of Sale and Abreu. I think we should go all in this offseason, sign Tomas, and make a trade involving Avisail Garcia and Carlos Sanchez for a proven #2/3 RHSP.
  5. I think that if Felix drops his ERA below 2.20 and Sale stays under 2.00, we have a pretty legitimate chance. I think ERA is one of the main stats that the voters look at, as even the ESPN guys are drifting away from W/L. Sale leads in FIP, too, so that helps. Looking back, it's just a shame that missing a month likely cost him the Cy Young because Robin decided to leave him out there for 127 pitches.
  6. And while we're on the WAR topic, is Alex Gordon really that good? I mean, for someone hitting .270 with 19/67, he better be one of the best defensive players of all time to have a WAR that good.
  7. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 08:47 PM) According to offensive WAR, he's just a SMIDGE below McCutchen for 2nd best hitter in baseball this year. That's a joke. A .324 BA with 35/102 defeats .310 BA with 23/75 any day.
  8. That was so unexpected. Terrific game. Cutler, Marshall, Conte, Fuller, Allen, Young, etc.
  9. Belisario strikes again. I forgot about him, but hey, only a couple more weeks and he's gone!
  10. Here's another chance for Viciedo to be a hero
  11. This has been a great inning: -Eaton singles -Ramirez doubles -Abreu singles, scoring Eaton -Gillaspie singles, scoring Ramirez
  12. Well there's #101 for Abreu
  13. Nice easy inning for Noesi
  14. QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Sep 13, 2014 -> 10:09 PM) -Semien had a fantastic day -Gillaspie broke out of his slump with a big RBI. -Andy Wilkins did something It was a very good day! I don't know if was as good as Abreu's "OUR KIDS WILL NOT QUIT" walk off slam against a s*** talking Balfour... but it was good. Forgot about Semien, and yeah, that was a pretty good night, too.
  15. This day will go down as one of the best, if not the best, of the Sox season. -2 wins -Quintana dominated -Abreu got his 100th RBI -Avi Garcia was great -Viciedo destroyed that ball -The bullpen didn't suck as much as usual
  16. Viciedo has 21 HRs this year, but if you translate it with everyday ABs, he'd have 24/25
  17. As one of the biggest Viciedo supporters here, this one feels great. I really do hope he's a 1B/DH/LF platoon or something next year.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 13, 2014 -> 09:53 PM) It's possible, but you can't fault the Sox if he does You kind of can. He's still 25 (or 26, I'm not entirely sure) and had a stellar 2012 hitting-wise. I think we can afford to give him one more year.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 13, 2014 -> 09:52 PM) I wonder if Tank will be a star with the Orioles or somebody next year. I think he'll end up being a star in our division. Maybe a .270, 35 HR hitter for KC for a decade.
  20. Has Conor ever walked off? I'd love to see that Moises Sierra aftermath...
  21. Nice takeout slide by JorDanks
  22. 14 pitch AB... great job
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 13, 2014 -> 09:46 PM) Abreu too many foul balls; gotta put it in play. Is K coming? Probably. 11 pitches so far
