Also logical landing places for Abreu/Frazier/Cabrera
Aren't the Indians looking for a 3B? Thought I had read so where they might be. I could see Cleveland being interested in adding Frazier's power to their lineup.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 09:12 PM) Which deal would you guys prefer? 1) Glasnow, Bell, & Newman 2) Martes, Tucker, Reed, & Stubbs I would definitely take #1, but would be open to #2 as I'm higher on Tucker than most here. I would take the Houston deal without thinking twice and but I wouldn't complain about the Pitt offer.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
With Glasnow's name continuing to come up, it tells me the Sox see something in him they can't pass up. The Sox have a good eye for young pitching talent. I just hope the other names being discussed are bats.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 08:41 PM) does anyone else get a Garin Cecchini vibe from Kevin Newman? I just have a hard time seeing him posting those numbers as he moves up with out power to punish pitchers that challenge him down broadway. For right right now he has the batting eye and contact skills. He should be in AAA next season so that should give a better indication. A bat and eye like his would slot well at #2 in the lineup.

Indians sign Edwin Encarnacion
The Tribe should seriously thank Oakland for jumping into the mix and making the choice much easier for EE.

Indians sign Edwin Encarnacion
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 08:09 PM) They are both rebuilding if this offseason is any indication. It's the Indians division to lose, no question. I'm thinking the same thing. I think every team not named Cleveland will be hoping certain players perform well enough to be traded in July. The ALC will look like Walmart on Black Friday. " It's the July 31st American League Central Black Monday Event: Everything Is On Sale Now!" I just hope it doesn't turn into the $5 or less DVD bin.

Indians sign Edwin Encarnacion
Smart move by the Tribe. They have no competition in the ALC but they have to make sure they stay competitive with Boston, Toronto, Houston and Texas. I'll be shocked if the Tribe aren't ahead of 2nd place by at least 15+ games when the deadline comes up. They should literally walk away from everyone in the ALC in '17.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 07:38 PM) I think Hahn would see McCutcheon as a distraction to the rebuild idea. He probably argued for years to tear it down, and if he brought in McCutch, and he lit it up, got the team to around .500, Reinsdorf would say "let's go for it" and halt the rebuild. If I'm Hahn I want no,part of any high dollar veteran help. With Sale/Q out of the rotation and Shields/Holland in the rotation plus the absence of Eaton in the lineup I don't think we have to worry much about being .500 when July rolls around, regardless of who lights it up.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 07:13 PM) I'm not sure the Pirates have the money to afford both Quintana & Frazier and adding a 1B option on a one year deal doesn't make a lot of sense for them IMO. Crazy idea I had this morning was offer Frazier for McCutchen as part of the trade provided the Pirates offer an additional piece for Q. This allows Pitt to make room for Meadows and add power to the 3B position while removing McCutchen's salary from their '17 payroll. McCutchen would be a good risk for a rebuilding team like the Sox to take. If the gamble works, come July McCutchen would fetch more in a trade than Frazier thus giving the Sox a chance for a pretty nice haul. If McCutchen got off to a strong start, his '18 option for 14M+ would add value in a July trade. If the Pirates are offering say, Glasnow/Bell/Hayes, offer the Frazier for McCutchen idea if they throw Craig into the mix for Q. I'm just using Hayes and Craig as examples, other prospects could be used in the deal to augment Glasnow/Bell. It's just an idea and nothing too serious. Just trying to think outside the box.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 07:11 PM) Don't think there's any way Meadows is available Been watching the Pirates farm for about 1-2 years now and the Pirates have been very high on Meadows the whole time. That doesn't mean he cannot be had, like Moncada, just that Meadows is quite valuable to Pitt. It may take another teams offer to get Pitt to include Meadows. Who knows, maybe that's what's going on.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 07:01 PM) I like him plenty as a secondary piece. Likely limited to first or DH though. He does look like he will end up at first base. His eye and hit tool really intrigue me, to the point I'm not sure if I would prefer him or Hayes. Something about Craig's eye and hit tool makes me think he could move faster than normal through the minors. I'm fine with a package headed by Glasnow and Bell, just not sure what the other piece(s) I would like. Would like to get Glasnow, Bell, Newman and Craig but that might be stretching it a bit.

Will Craig is an interesting prospect. Crazy batting eye with good hit and power tools although the power has yet to develop. Anyone from Future Sox know anything about Craig?

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 04:11 PM) We still need Shields to go out there and get lit up for 200 innings per year Somebody has to go out there and pitch Getting lit up and pitching 200 innings doesn't really mesh together very well. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) Are you kidding me. The guy has a career 1.000 OPS. He is a can't miss player. Well, the stats don't lie! Forget Meadows, he's over rated, we have Charlie Tilson. Show Charlie Tilson your OPS (cue Chappelle's voice).

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) San Diego does have the worst rotation in the MLB by a very long way It's not crazy to think that our AAA rotation might actually be better than their MLB rotation this season Clayton Richard is arguably their #1 right now I think an idea for a #2 and a solid addition to pitch behind the resurrected Clayton Richard would be JAMES SHIELDS! Why not, they are paying half his salary anyway. Sox of course would pick up the tab for the flight back to SD.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
Tilson, May, Engel. Any wonder why the Sox reportedly insist on Meadows being apart of the return for Q? The Sox have three legit 4th outfielders but no starting center fielder. Tells me the Sox have a plan and know where their weaknesses are. Anyway. I like the recent rumor of Meadows/Glasnow + Bell or Newman. If the rumor is true then all I can say is what's the hold up!

QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 12:39 PM) Candelario is a 30 defender at 3b. Has no chance ever playing adequately at 3B. Only position might be 1B, which his hitting profile doesn't fit at that position. Candelario is a DH type player. I have no interest in Candelario in any Cubs deal. Where did you get that rating from? According to MLB.com Candelario is rated as 50 for fielding and a 55 for arm which are about average ratings.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) I'm gonna guess not that desperate. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 12:04 PM) If they were coming off a World Series loss: desperate. I have to agree with bmags. Agree with you both. Just saying it would take alot for me to send Q across town but I admit that cub fans aren't too eager to help the Sox either. Schwarber + Jimenez for Q might be a more plausible trade for both teams.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (GermanSoxFan @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) I'd prefer Schwarber. Jimenez and Candelario. Schwarber's value is limited in the NL. And they can't even move him to first either. He would be a logical trade piece. That's exactly what I had in mind. The cubs FO knows that I'd they were to make a serious play for Q that it would cost them and they know the Sox are in the driver's seat. So Theo, how desperate are you?

QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 06:25 AM) I have been thinking the same thing. Thanks for saying it. I really didn't want to come across as being spiteful towards Sale now that he's gone but it was a concern of mine. But as ptatc pointed out, it's a shame Sale didn't get the chance with the White Sox. I do wish him well on the days he does not pitch against the White Sox.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
Crazy idea to help Pitt. Trading for Q alone will not make the Pirates a contender for '17. It would provide a nice spark for the fan base but the luster would wear off in no time and once they step back and look at the team, that spark is still just a mere fart. They need more than just Q. I'm thinking meet the Pirates half way in terms of working out a trade. I can see why they don't want to part with Meadows so as an effort to meet em half way offer to leave Meadows out of the trade and make a Frazier for McCutchen deal as part of the trade package. But, the Pirates will pay for it in terms of prospects for Q. Bell, Glasnow, Keller and Hayes. The Pirates add a very stable pitcher to a very unstable rotation, get a 3B with power (better than Freese), get Meadows into CF and overall would not be adding a huge amount to their '17 payroll. That would energize the fan base as well as send a message that they are serious about '17. Sox get a nice package of prospects to add to what they already have, McCutchen to play CF in a small park to help rebuild his value and potentially bring back a haul at the deadline or next winter if the Sox picked up his '18 option of 14.75M. If McCutchen were to get out of the gate strong in '17, a desperate team would pay much more for McCutchen than what the Sox might get now or later for Frazier. Yes, I'm bored while I wait for the next rumor to come out. Edit: screw it, scratch Hayes and make Newman part of the return. I think the Pirates are more desperate than some might think.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) That's true. however, he still has a better chance of getting the team there. It could be he just interest. Who knows maybe he would could turn it on in the playoffs. The White Sox never gave him the chance. Can you imagine the Red Sox fans if they make it to the playoffs but both Price and sale fall apart? I might pay to watch the fans explode. Thats one aspect i had not thought of is what Sale does for the team in his regular season starts. When he gets on a streak, he's just filthy. Might even benefit moving to the ALE because ALC teams were having more success against him. I really do wish Sale the best but those Boston fans will go bananas if he pitches like Price in the playoffs. Red Sox message boards will read like an angry comic strip. Most used word will be "FAWK".
