Look at the bright side. This should be the last thread if it's kind for a long time.

Saturday night beisbol for Sox fans: Sox at Tribe 6:10 PM CDT
Wasn't home to watch the game but would not have guessed Fulmer would limit the Indians to 1R over five innings. Fulmer has earned a spot in the 2018 rotation. Seems like he took it to heart when the Sox said they were going to move him to the pen because he's been good in his starts since Rodon went down and Fulmer moved into the rotation.

Shohei Otani is likely coming to the USA
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 30, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) This explanation is inaccurate. Abreu wasn't a restricted amateur signing. You're correct on Abreu not being a restricted amateur signing but I must kindly disagree with with the inaccurate part.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 30, 2017 -> 12:28 PM) May as well put him on the mound at this point, it's not happening in the outfield. Nothing to lose, I like the idea.

2017 Minor League Catch-All thread
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 07:03 PM) Why would Alolfo spend another season in Kannapolis? He'll most certaintly get moved up to A+ to start 2018. Here's how I see the OFs shaking out to start the year, although I think there will be a lot of early promotions. Birmingham LF - Fisher CF - Polo RF - Jimenez 4th - Hawkins Winston-Salem LF - Rutherford CF - Basabe RF - Adolfo 4th - Call Kannapolis LF - Gonzalez CF - Robert RF - Dedelow 4th - Mercedes I just think that Adolfo's BA and K's would have him start in Kanny to begin the season. But, with the log jam of outfielders in both A ball levels, there's not much room to work with so one or two guys will have to move up. IMHO, Rutherford needs to start in Kanny and I think that's what happens if Robert impresses next spring. Adolfo and Basabe could help ease Robert's transition to playing ball in the US while it gives Rutherford time to find a groove at Kanny. Funny you mention Hawkins. Not that he has earned a promotion but with the OF talent the Sox have at AA and below, I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox force him to Charlotte. It's s*** or get off the pot time for Hawkins and I think the Sox patience has about run out on Hawkins. He's on borrowed time.

Shohei Otani is likely coming to the USA
QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 08:54 PM) Neither was Abreu. Not every team was able to bid on Abreu either, some big players ( Dodgers, Yanks, Red Sux) were out, much like Robert. Plus the Sox had a very strong connection with Cuban players. Otani is a very different situation from Abreu.

Since money isn't a big deal, it's going to be interesting to see how creative teams get when they try to lure him to sign with them. Plenty of teams will offer to play him inbetween starts so what else can teams offer him to separate themselves from the rest? Teams are going to have to get very creative.

2017 Minor League Catch-All thread
Easy to see how with all the talent on the farm but I think Adolfo's season has gone a bit under the radar. Despite the K's he made some nice progress this year. Might see Robert in CF and Adolfo in RF for Kanny next year. Should be a fun Kanny team next year.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 01:34 PM) I was one of a few very pro Albies voices when we thought he may be here in a trade. Slashline for first 54 games .281/.354/.443 with 5 hrs, 8 doubles and 5(!) triples. 36 Ks to 21 BBs. 7 of 8 stolen bases. Soxtalk slapped a Yolmer Sanchez label on him and couldn't see past it. I was with you on Albies... and Mateo too.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 04:28 PM) It didn't happen exactly from Games 82 to 108, but they actually went 4-23 in that bad stretch. Wow. Wouldn't have thought the Sox or any other team had been worse than the September Tigers.

Didn't realise the Sox were that bad in July. That's dead odd with the tigers this month.

Failed deal with Pirates
Never did like the idea of trading with Pitt when the rumors of Bell and Meadows being off the table came out. At the time I was fine with Glasnow ( oops, wrong) and really liked Keller but had no interest in Newman. In the end it worked out best for both teams but I like the idea of revisiting the trade proposals.

Random notes from Hahn presser
QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 08:45 AM) Doubt he ever plays there, if he does well in Spring he'll likely go to W/S and if not he'll go to KAN Despite his age and lack of playing experience in the States he can be a very fast riser It isn't unrealistic to expect him as the OD CF in '19 between Avi and Eloy Omarcoming25 posted this in the FS forum last week. Ya never know.

Does Abreu fit into Sox longer term plans?
QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) Am I the only one that thinks Avi moves over to LF once Eloy (RF) gets called up? Nope, I see it the same way.

According to BR the Tigers are 5-22 for the month of September. Hard to top that s*** show. Good thing Cleveland is still playing for the AL #1 seed. Should help the Sox hold onto the #4 pick next year.
