The only advantage Arenado would have is being the easy #1 of his FA class. If the big dogs decide to jump in next offseason they will need to outbid one another unlike (so far) this offseason. Also Arenado has the advantage the Colorado just blows their wad on the face of their franchise. (unlikely i'd say but we never know)

This is my conclusion up to this point as well, I think all the usual insiders are hearing whispers but no concrete numbers. Gomez having no horse in the race and probably heard that info from someone in Manny's circle makes him much more believable IMO. Even Heyman admits to basically all contract figures right now are "educated guesses".

What's crazy is this move doesn't even make the Browns better. Chubb is legit and Hunt wasn't necessary at all for them. I guess Dorsey is showing some faith in his guy for probably Hunt's last shot at the NFL.

I get where you're coming from, I just personally don't think he signs short term coming off a great year this past year. He could just as easily have a 2017 repeat and leave substantial money on the table. Harper would probably make the most sense of either big fish to do it but I personally can't see it, obviously none of us know. I just think this is a staring contest between agents, they both want their client to be the last gem on the market. Good thing Sox aren't doing squat this year they can wait this out.

Although I agree with the "It's not my money, just land the guy" I still have doubts Lozano wouldn't still be holding out and keep upping the cap for Manny's services. So say the Sox did indeed put out a 10/327 mil offer, we probably would still be waiting for Harper to sign to see if they can top that. That's the kinda offseason it has been.

So when they say they are committed to Boylen for next season I 100% believe it and I also buy into the theory that it's because they don't want multiple coaches on the payroll to save face.
