  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) Assuming Carcillo beats out Mashinter for the 13th forward spot, this is what we are looking at. I hope a dependable 3rd D pairing emerges over time. Sharp - Toews - Hossa Saad - Richards - Kane Bickell - Shaw - Versteeg Morin - Kruger - Smith Carcillo Keith - Seabrook Oduya - Hjalmarsson Cumiskey - Rozsival Rundblad - Van Riemsdyk Crawford Raanta I'm rooting for Morin to have a great season, cuz if Carcillo has to start for this team I might just lose it
  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 09:59 AM) From 1969 through 1985, Baltimore made the ALCS 7 times and Kansas City 6 times, yet they never faced each other. I hope this series goes 7
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 10:12 AM) Except the Royals don't hit a lot of home runs (post-season withstanding). They've needed production like this from Hosmer and Moustakas all year and they never really got it. Now they have it and their offense is actually decent. This is another example of a team getting hot at the right time. Yea they're definitely not even close to as dominant as that 05 team was, I just meant the style they play, whether inadvertently or not. But you're right, Moustakas couldn't hit a beach ball (except against the Sox) and now him and hosmer are crushing everything.
  4. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 10:21 AM) I give the yardage a pass because both Jeffery and Marshall were banged up for 3 games or so, and the defenses played to stuff the run against Forte. Rushing has definitely gotten better the past 2 games. The stat that is inexcusable is we are 3rd in the league with 10 giveaways, and yes, Cutler is responsible for 9 of those. If we stop turning the ball over so damn much, it will help both the offense and defense. We'd at least be over .500 that's for sure.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 10:12 AM) Well, they've also played some fairly decent defenses it seems, in the Bills, Niners, Jets and Panthers. I think they will continue to rise in the rankings. This offense was built to beat "decent" defenses, expensively built.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 09:46 AM) I will confess... I love watching KC. The defense, the speed, etc. It is throw back baseball, and it is fun to watch. They put stress on the other team, and many teams just can't handle it. Don't lynch me guys but the pitching, speed, and clutch factor kinda give KC a 05 Sox look and feel.
  7. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 09:41 AM) The problem with the Bears is it seems that cutler is not cut out for Trestman's offense. They are stuck together for the next two years then something has got to give. If Cutler can't succeed in Trestman's system, then I doubt he can succeed in ANY system.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 06:31 AM) If they had any type of defense last year, they very well could have. It's ludicrous that some fans are blaming him for yesterday. Yes, that one INT was awful, but he threw for 300 yards and 2 TDs. The defense still coughed up a lead, Gould missed a chip shot, and Forte fumbled. Team loss. Well it's an improved defense this year, that's a fact since it couldn't get any worse and Cutler has been the same QB we've seen the past 6 years with bigger, meaner weapons. I'm not an apologist, that missed field goal really gave Carolina momentum, but Cutler's 2nd pick was a dealbreaker. You're winning by 3, time to seal the game and you make a bonehead pass over an open receiver and leave Carolina at the Bears 32. The Forte fumble was the cherry on top, but by then the team looked deflated. I'm not blaming only Cutler, but It starts with him and Trestman.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 11:18 PM) I feel like he almost just panics when he doesn't see anyone open and just forces throws. It's so hard to get a measure on him. Sometimes he's great (see SF game), sometimes he's awful (see second half today and Packers game). It's just night and day with him at this point. That's the definition of a mediocre quarterback. I don't hate the guy, but I've accepted the fact the Bears will never win a SB with Cutler at QB.
  10. Crappy rumor from a crappier website
  11. It's official #NHL #Blackhawks Daniel Carcillo's one-year, one-way contract is for the league minimum $550,000.
  12. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 10:07 PM) WTF happened? I'm stunned! I stepped out as the 6th was ending, thinking this game was over with Kershaw on the mound. Fuuuuck!
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 03:13 PM) He's out running in a field somewhere with Kim Johnsson.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) I'm just getting Hunter Hillenmeyer flashbacks. Don't do that to yourself
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 03:04 PM) kind of funny when you think about how Verlander said that Oakland made the Lester trade so they could compete with the Tigers, yet Oakland didnt get out of the wildcard game and Detroit looking like they arent gonna get out of the first round. Oakland made all the right moves and still didn't make it. Sucks Detroit made all the wrong moves (or no moves at all) and is paying for it now. Very good
  16. Ausmus knows he has no bullpen and goes with Anibal Sanchez B6 in place of Verlander
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 09:22 AM) I am honestly surprised a deal hasn't been done yet. Yesterday I thought Hawks were going to announce one when they recalled Dalhbeck possibly to replace somebody (in my mind Leddy or Oduya)
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) And if JR wants it, it will happen. Honestly, I think we have already gotten the shopping list between bits of what Jerry, Kenny, and Rick have said. We know they want a RHSP. We know they want a LH power hitter. We know they have been working hard on a deal to bring in someone through a 3 way deal, which could still happen. We know they are going to address the pen. Any speculation about the off season should be based on those points. /thread. Shaping up to be a pretty exciting offseason.

  20. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Oct 1, 2014 -> 06:27 PM) Go Pirates! Lol sorry that didn't work out for you. oh and Go Cards!
  21. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 30, 2014 -> 02:53 PM) I don't think the Tigers get past the O's I'd like A's to win. Royals too. Pretty much any team that has been in baseball futility for a while. Sucks the A's and Royals have to play the WC, wouldn't loved KC to win division and tigers be outed by the A's tonight.
  22. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Sep 30, 2014 -> 04:05 PM) You think maybe it has to do with the low expectations going into the 2014 season? Everyone knew the Sox were going to suck so what was there to get fans hopes up for? The FO said they were " reshaping" which was a load s*** in itself because it is a rebuild. Fans are not stupid. You can call it fair weather since its such a neat little catch phrase and all. But the bottom line is some people choose to find better things to do and better ways to spend their money and I don't blame them. Nowhere is it written that to be a fan you must be at the games or in front of the TV watching every game. If I'm not doing anything or I have no plans, I'll check out a game but if there's something for the lady and I to get out and do, we do it. I've been a fan for over 40 years but I will not revolve my summer around the Chicago White Sox schedule either. Life and Chicago summers are too short for that nonsense. I think it's just a case of the Sox having bandwagon fans to the point where they won't go out to the stadium or watch the games on tv until they prove they can win year in year out. I hate comparing sports but the Blackhawks were like that, empty UC in the early 00's before the now current Hawks craze that swept the city after the 1st SC. If the white sox can win the division the next 4 out of 6 years (or something close) the rating and attendance will no doubt increase substantially. And it definitely will help once the cubs have a contending team to renew interest in the crosstown rivalry. until then, irrelevancy is where the sox/cubs sit.
  23. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Sep 30, 2014 -> 12:51 PM) Im about 75% sure its going to be Molitor. He was pegged to take over for Tom Kelly back in 2001, but the contraction issue made take the Twins job not the surest thing. He's been a roving instructor for many years before coming back to the bench this year (was a coach under the Kelly regime). He is "one of us" (Minnesota love their own). Also as caulfield said a couple posts ago, Molitor has a brilliant baseball mind. Just thinking about it, I think the short list is (in order of likeliness): Molitor Mientkiewicz Outsider Steinbach (probably going to end up in Arizona) Jake Mauer (Cedar Rapids manager and Joe Mauer's brother) No ozzie guillen?
