Official NHL 2014-15 Thread

I know it's still early, but right now Carcillo is making me see he deserves icetime, the guy is hitting the net and protecting his own without getting too stupid (like before). Hopefully he keeps playing like this, this Hawks team is definitely the best we've seen. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 10:09 AM) Got my Wii U last night. The ability to control my TV/satellite receiver, and switch between playing a game on the TV or on the gamepad, is amazing. I was rocking the Bulls game, Illini game and Mario Kart all night. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) Did you set up TVii? I havent touched it since I set it up, seems like a nice idea, but just not functional on a day to day basis. We use the youtube app all the time though, my boys love it Never even touched TVii, does it work with DirecTV?

Darling to the rescue! -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 08:26 AM) Robin really sounded impressed by Surkamp during last September. I wouldn't be shocked to see him as the second lefty, while they look for a closer type righty out of the pen. Yea I think Surkamp is best choice as the second lefty but I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on the guy to see if he can make the decision tough in ST.

I'm not sure if anyone has talked about it, but maybe Wesley Wright would be a nice pickup on a minor league deal. He looked solid last year for the Cubs and would add another lefty into the mix now that snoddy is gone.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 10:00 AM) What a dud performance last night. 3 games in 4 days takes a toll, credit to the Canucks for always playing the Hawks extra hard. -
QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 08:25 AM) I'm pretty certain that Hahn could have gotten Ethier instead of LaRoche. He made his choice. We'll see who has the better year. Ethier probably hits better, not as much power, plays outfield, first base, DH, more speed, younger, makes Viciedo expendable, extra year, loss of a prospect, better looking. I'd have taken Ethier by a nose. except LaRoche costs alot less for less time and didn't need to include an All Star shortstop

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 04:15 PM) Jim Bowden @JimBowden_ESPN 4m4 minutes ago #Cardinals have joined the Red Sox, Cubs and Braves in pursuit of Jon Lester according to a club source which makes sense after Miller trade Potential Cards + Lester + Cubs Saltyness= Awesome. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 03:14 PM) Then they can enjoy not having Alexei. The Sox have zero need to move him, and would be completely stupid to take on a bad contract without getting a star potential young players for him. Exactly. Sox have to be impressed, not the other way around.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) I think he might be done. He used to be a really good firstbaseman. Now he's even awful in the field. The rumor earlier was for Edwin Jackson. I don't think anything in baseball could be more annoying than Nick Swisher playing for the Cubs and talking about "the Cubbies". That's a brony match made in heaven -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 02:54 PM) Alexei + Danks + Trayce for Joc and one of Ethier/Kemp seems fair to me. I brought that trade (swap trayce for generic crap prospect) up on the mlbtraderumors comment section just for fun and LA fans bashed the hell outta me calling me crazy.lol They want Ramirez for Ethier straight up.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 01:10 PM) TVR out 2 to 3 months. http://committedindians.com/report-van-riemsdyk-2-3-months/ Expected but still sucks, He was really coming into his own quickly -
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 01:41 PM) LOL, read this: http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2014/11/18/723...om-the-sideline There's also this one Joakim

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) from the start it really seemed like the Clippers were thinking "No Rose, no Pau, No problem". as soon as Jamal Crawford came in the game he just started jacking(and hitting, mostly) terrible shots without even looking at his teammates. LA looked very soft last night. I dont expect it to continue, because they are a very good team, but that is what I saw from them last night. I saw the 1st half and neither team looked too hot, neither were hitting shots, especially the Bulls, Clips got a boost from JC hitting a few tough shots but overall both teams looked flat so it's good to see the Bulls ended up turning it up in the 2nd half.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 01:18 PM) Point is, Miller is better, and could be 5 WARs better according to WAR True, but on the flipside of that, Miller could blow out his elbow on his first pitch and you're stuck with $40 mill deadweight as opposed to $15. $40 mill for a reliever just doesn't make sense, especially with so many diamonds in the rough just waiting for a team to take a flyer. Hochevar would be a nice get at this point, I honestly do think he'll bounce back nicely -

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 01:05 PM) Playing devil's advocate to raise a point here. Is it double standard that we constantly use WAR to grade players nowadays, but when it comes to actually paying the players, we aren't thrilled to pay $10 mil for a 2 WAR player but are fine with $5 mil for a 1 WAR player? Even without looking at WAR, Miller is still a 8th inning/ closer material while Duke is more of a 7th/8th inning guy. If you want to argue about years here, Miller will be 33 at the end of a 4 year deal and Duke will be 36 at the end of this deal. Miller would also cost at least $25 more. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 07:34 AM) I'd much rather have Jon Lester on the Cubs than an AL team like the BlueJays. Can't believe others don't feel the same. If he goes back to the AL East I can't help but think the Red Sox will pay him, especially if they sign Sandoval. -
Who's the guy in the black cap?
