QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 01:22 AM) Glad you weren't a Pirates or Royals fan. Hell, I hope you're not a Bills fan either. I am a Kansas City Chiefs fan, so I know what's it like to be apathetic towards a team.
-
You make a trade ASAP or sell. It's not worth puttsing around for six more weeks and being even more out of it and then trading for a bat. This trade will be a mistake. Not because I think Bruce sucks but because this team just isn't very good. Bruce would come here and immediately suck too with the Sox luck lately with hitters.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 12:09 AM) I think it may have been a quote from Eaton. Something along these lines... "We never really recovered from being swept in Kanas City..." Bingo I didn't say much about that cuz I thought eh...they'll be ok. Started hot after the LaRoche ordeal so that's nothing. I just feel like that's one sign of a mentally weak team with no leadership from the skip.
-
Maybe rabbit of someone with some inside info can shed some light on this and if he's close to being fired or if this is one big excercise in mental masturbation. I'm just fed up with this same losing crap.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 12:02 AM) If that's true ... wow. I'd like to know who the player was. I do believe it's possible for the Sox to quit on a season after going 0-3 or 0-4 but that's incredible at the same time. Obviously the first week of the season means nothing, though an 0-7 start is not ideal. It was something along those lines without looking it up exactly.
-
Ya know, when I heard one of the players say at the beginning of the season that after being swept to open last season that that put them in a funk they couldn't out of. That put up a red flag for me. This team is weak minded. Robin doesn't have the clubhouse presence to instill a winning culture. There has to be a change ASAP. They'll let this drag out til they're 10 under before they make a change watch. Started what 23-10 and now 6 for their last 19? This team is going nowhere, so of course there's no sense of urgency and accountability. Sickening. Trading for Shields was fine but it's meaningless at this point it feels like without a big pen addition and impact bat.
-
It's obvious the Sox are going nowhere but down. Keep him in AAA until September.
-
Yet Robin still has a job...
-
I can't even bother watching anymore. Haven't for awhile now and it's been a lot better than stressing over a painstakingly awful team. Yet Robin keeps his job. I'd fire the entire staff except Renteria.
-
Hahn, please don't add anymore. SELL SELL SELL.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 05:22 PM) Wil Myers or BUST if he (Shields) opts out! Odds of that actually happening...about the same as being able to go for one month without hearing that "Go Cubs Go!" song somewhere. (Let's hope Hahn didn't agree to take Matt Kemp's contract instead as "fair compensation.") Heh? Wut?
-
I would be beyond stunned if he opted out of this deal.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 11:52 PM) Callis said on the SSS podcast that Hahn or Hostetler (sp?) went to go see him last week and he went 0 for 4 with 3 Ks and looked awful. Said it doesn't mean they are sour on him, but late impressions tend to stick and could make them shy away. Didn't seem to have any other reasons other than that. This reminds me of the story of the 1983 NFL Draft for the Chiefs (as a KC fan, yuck). They had a pre daft workout with Dan Marino. It went rough, he didn't do too well and cussed and fussed while working out. Their owner didn't like that and they proceeded to take Todd Blackledge instead LOL. That still chaps my ass to this day. Point is one outing doesn't mean a thing. It should sway you if you really like the player. Everyone has an off day. Now this isn't exactly the same thing but just something that came to mind.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) Anyone have an idea why there are some rumblings the Sox are going to stay away from Collins? Could it be a smoke screen?

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 07:02 PM) Pretty good segment on MLB Now today. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/49502780/v782...quiring-shields Great video thanks! I'm really trying to find positives from this season but it's just so hard now that they've fallen to what they really are with the exception of some of the outings from the pen. I know they're better than that. This team needs another good pen arm and a bat.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) E) The front office, primarily the top of the front office, is the problem in this organization. I don't think he's a good manager, but I'm indifferent re firing him at this point. I actually really like Rick Hahn. I like what's he's done but don't believe he's been given full reigns like he should. I trust Hahn with a rebuild but his hands are tied at the same time with the budget.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 11:26 AM) Yes. I wouldn't cry if they fired Robin at noon today. But those calling for his head, if they don't do something about the offense, will be calling the next guy a goof as well. Robin Ventura knows more about the White Sox personnel and about baseball than any of us on this board. Some people don't believe it, but it's true. There's a difference between making a move at manager to make a move and firing a guy who has no business being one in the first place. Yes these players aren't getting it done but Robin also isn't putting these guys in the best situations to succeed either. #WeDeserveBetter
-
I love this trade. Can't argue against it at all. But they need to go get more ASAP. I think they will too because this team needs more this lineup needs a bat most importantly.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) I don't think many are opposed to RV going but are making the case that it won't make much of a difference. Making the player changes are much more important. you are spending far too much energy and angst on a move that won't make the difference. Channel the energy at the players to improve or for Hahn to improve the roster. The single most important thing it shows is accountability. There is none right now. Firing Robin shows that there is some.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) Making trades to improve the team doesn't? Depends on the trade. Trading for a mid 30s SP? Gota be more because that can't be the only trade and I'm sure it won't. Honestly they need a bat and a reliever ASAP. Go get CarGo or something along that lines. Get Chapman or something along those lines. We all know Robin sucks at his job. It's just time. But then again this is the front office that hired him in the first place.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 09:56 AM) Seriously, this is tired at this point. Enjoy our s***ty organization, everyone! I know right. Just be content with a s***ty team, lineup, and manager. Hey at least we're 1 over! Firing him wouldn't fix everything but it'd show everyone that they're serious about winning this year. Let a real manager take over like Renteria.

Robin should've been fired long time ago

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 07:29 PM) They suck. Face facts. The team we follow and want to win very badly started 23-10, and then pooped it away in 25 days. I mean, if they want to win tomorrow, and come home and go 6-3, and then hit the road to Cleveland and Boston and go 4-3, great! But if you're really being honest with yourself, you'd realize they aren't that good, and they certainly don't have a plan in place to get good. That's not whining. That's facts. Exactly. Not every gloomy post is whining. That's just what people think who can't see the forest through the trees. They just aren't very good. When you suck, then every post is "whining." -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 07:21 PM) Ridiculous whining and expressing gloom and doom. We are in the first week of June and in the middle of a dogfight for the division lead and folks want us to fold Lol a dogfight? What's this teams record against teams not named Minnesota in this division? Ya that's what I thought. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 07:02 PM) It would appear the Sox are on their way to being a bottom-5 team in the AL. White Sox, A's, Rays, Angels, Twins. Those are the bad teams. Bingo. Running this team out there with Robin at the helm was a signal all along. I hate feeling this way about them now but it's just how I feel. They haven't righted the ship because there's isn't a way short of selling out and making big moves. Shields is ok but he's not going to help that much.
