  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 08:15 PM) CarGo and Ethier are those two interesting case studies for how much return they can get now compared to being pure salary dumps a year ago. Ethier I believe has the longer deal, so wouldn't cost as much...and is more of a complimentary player for LA. CarGo, otoh, is the remaining franchise player (most identifiable) for the Rockies, and rebounded significantly...so they will definitely ask for Fulmer or Adams....and it's unsure whether Adams alone gets it done now. Another factor is he's a lot more expensive than Frazier...but we don't unfortunately have the equivalent of another Montas/Micah/Trayce package we're willing to deal. Maybe Hawkins and Adams, that feels like their ask in terms of selling it to the fanbase. Sign Gordon, trade Adams, Avi and Danish for Cargo
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 05:37 PM) Four years at $50-75 million is the negotiating zone. No way he gets five and $100, even with Boras. But roughly the same numbers being bandied forth about Gordon. One would have to argue that having a deep bullpen that can cover 5-6 inning starts rather than 6-7+, that exploitation of a market inefficiency (having a dominant yet relatively affordable pen) would cause them to be even more reluctant not to get sucked into overpaying for veteran starting pitching with the numbers being so crazy. If anything, it forces teams to look at Latos and Fister more closely. I'm just saying what I heard on MLBN about Chen.
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 05:30 PM) For about a half a second I thought you were talking about Bruce Chen and I almost had a heart attack. Haha no way.
  4. Royals have a 0% chance at Chen. He's seeking 5 yrs $100 million
  5. I appreciate any inside info I get. So many thanks to Rabbit, Rock and Bucket. I don't challenge people with sources because it's a fickle game. Sometimes you're right and sometimes you're wrong. Keep it coming rabbit!
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 12:07 PM) The next time Hayes is right will be the first time this whole offseason. IIRC he wasn't right last off-season on anything. He's like a little puppet out there to throw people off the scent.
  7. Ya Hosmer and Moustakas are gone. The royals are f***ed soon. That's why they need to keep gordon. You have like a 2 year window. I also have a feeling Perez is going to break down badly for them.
  8. Sorry Hayes but that is a silly and stupid plan.
  9. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 01:06 AM) When will these guys sign? Today at 11:30
  10. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 12:18 AM) All I know is he has made it very obvious that he has no idea what is going on but is getting paid to act like he does. He's been wrong multiple times this offseason & if any of these reports come out to be true, he'll be wrong again on the OF'er front. I just go with the opposite of what he says. Hell I think it was Merkin that had a story of some sort about Frazier a day or so before we got him. I thought it was odd...then boom! We got him.
  11. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 23, 2015 -> 11:33 PM) Dan refuted the interest in Frazier after the Lawrie trade, then said he was overpriced & it wouldn't happen. Now he's saying they won't go after any of the big bats, especially the ones with a pick attached. Yet, multiple national writers have said the exact opposite. This stance he keeps taking is going to blow up in his face very soon. I don't pay attention to him. He's not reporting anything with any true inside insight. He downplays moves every year and is super conservative. Did it last offseason.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 23, 2015 -> 08:55 PM) It would be such a White Sox move to pay Gordon $100+ million based on his past performances only for it to blow up in their face. We've never paid a $100 mil contract so how could it be "such a white sox move"?
  13. Thanks for that update. We need to get one signed quickly. Don't want a bidding war.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 23, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) True, but if they land one of these guys, they improve 4 positions without giving up one of their top prospects and without giving up Q, who many thought dealing was the only way to get back to a relevant offense. I would call that pretty creative. Creative is the key there and that's a word Hahn used. Let's see if they land one and if they do, then kudos to Hahn and company.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 23, 2015 -> 04:19 PM) The funny thing is, if you sign Cespedes or Upton, when they get to be Gordon's age, at least Cespedes, the contract is going to look a lot like one people don't want to give Gordon. We all have to remember it's free agency. It's all an overpay for the most part.
  16. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 23, 2015 -> 03:10 PM) I just hope if the White Sox do sign him that they don't go over the 4 year mark. I know the report is that he is looking for $20M per, but I've read multiple things saying that the FA market moving is moving much slower because players aren't getting offers for nearly what they are commanding. I think 4 years at $16-18M per would be a very nice signing. Doubt that happens, though. I don't see any way he gets $20 mil per. 4 years is all I'd go.
  17. That seems like games planted to the media. Who knows though. I just know his agent is very quiet and doesn't talk to the media. (Agent is Casey Close IIRC)
  18. The royals have to play poor. They have guys coming up. Hosmer, Perez, Cain, etc.
  19. I predicted the Nats for him. Haven't seen them connected but appears I was off. Oh well. Thought missing on Heyward, they'd go after Gordon.
  20. QUOTE (jamesdiego @ Dec 22, 2015 -> 10:51 PM) I think Gordon is all.. &
  21. I loved Dye and I was bummed how badly it ended for him statistically.
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 22, 2015 -> 08:20 PM) I'd laugh hysterically if we ended up with numerous threads/pages on these three outfielders and the Sox end up trading for an outfielder instead. Fans lookin' fastball and the Sox throw a change up. We had threads on Lawrie and Frazier so we can hit their best cheese
  23. Caulfield just seems so scorned by this team. Which I can dig it, but I'm waiting for updates on this thread and Gordon talk not nonsense about moves that happened 10 years ago.
  24. Hey ladies....take this out back.
