  1. Found this on MLBTR: After adding Todd Frazier, Bruce Levine of CBS Chicago wonders if the White Sox will grab another big bat off of the free agent market. Justin Upton and Yoenis Cespedes are potential targets for Chicago, but Alex Gordon makes the most sense for the White Sox, in Levine’s estimation. The club has payroll limitations to deal with, but Levine has some ideas for how it can squeeze in a $20MM/year outfielder with some creative accounting. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/reds...mer-tigers.html
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 09:07 AM) I've seen lots of "never watching the Reds again" comments on Twitter from this trade... They must've really liked Frazier. Did you watch the home run derby?
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 08:49 AM) Well, a week ago it was imaginary to acquire Frazier without giving up Anderson OR Fulmer. Granted, the double signing would be a lot less likely than the White Sox more or less standing pat from here on out...but that's also a realistic possibility. It's still a bit difficult to believe they're going to shell out their first $100+ million dollar contract. No these aren't comparable. One is trading for an All Star 3B the other is signing 3 of the top outfielders (it was purely fantasy and sarcasm). They're going to shell it out sooner rather than later. They paid Abreu $68 million and didn't get a MLB at bat out of him at that time. They're going to do it eventually. Especially Sales next contract.
  4. Power hitting corner outfielder and another starting pitcher.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 08:38 AM) Caulfield, everyone knows that wont happen. Thats why they said "Imagine if...." you dont have to explain why a ridiculous imaginary idea is ridiculous and imaginary
  6. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 07:30 AM) Part of me really wants to LOVE this deal. But I also loved the Adam Dunn and Adam Laroche signings. A power bat from the NL makes me nervous. I think Frazier makes the Sox better, I'm just trying to keep my expectations down. Oh come on. Not ever NL player is going to hit like Dunn and LaRoche. He's not like them at all.
  7. Dan Hayes: Don't think #WhiteSox will wind up w/ high-profile FA. Won't rule anything out. But they prefer trade or FA w/o draft pick attached.
  8. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) Late to the party here, but want to be on record for future reference. 1. Trade makes sense if you are one player away from "going places." I think Sox are like 4-5 players away. 2. I don't think Lawrie can play second. Just my opinion, hopefully I am wrong. 3. Sox add yet another guy who can't draw a walk. What new? He played second at times for Oakland.
  9. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 07:54 PM) http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/159825864 Sox have checked in on the Rockies outfielders. I don't know how we'd get CarGo. 0% chance we deal Quintana for him.
  10. I do feel Destroit and LAA could be lying in the weeds in this market.
  11. One thing I wonder is how much we value our draft picks in terms of signing a guy. Now it's probably not a huge deal when you're giving someone a $100 million contract
  12. @billshaikin #Angels owner Arte Moreno said he's "probably out" on the Gordon/Cespedes/Upton group
  13. @ckamka Only players with 60+HR and 25+ SB since start of 2014 Todd Frazier (64,33) and Mike Trout (77,27)
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) A lot for a .195 hitter I said to myself thank god he's going there and not here.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) You mean the Marlins in a few days Tentatively that's the rotation. I fully expect to see a Fernandez deal in the next week. Maybe the Marlins liked some of our prospects like Montas and that's why they were involved. Hell if the Marlins are trading stars let's get Stanton lol
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:51 PM) Tigers are a big threat for Cespedes, IMO Absolutely. I read before the season ended that people thought he was going back there.
  17. I will say the Dodgers will have a nasty prospect rotation. Just said it on MLBN (Montas, Urias, De Leon, Anderson, Lee)
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) They did last year. They have Trout, Calhoun, Gentry, and Nava. Do they still have DeJesus? I'm not sure I just know they had a boat load.
  19. I also gota applaud the Front Office for getting their number one target of the offseason. Good job guys.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:46 PM) All three may be excessive, but I unno. Straight platoon!
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:45 PM) Too many misses with Trout and Pujols on the roster means that Moreno has to do something more substantive because they're a middle of the road, borderline contender as currently constructed. screw its let's trade Rodon, Anderson and Fulmer for Trout
  22. I hope so. Teams taking themselves out of these sweepstakes is good for the Sox $$$ wise with one of these OFers. But boy oh boy the Angels love having a load of OFers.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:35 PM) Span and Upton aren't happening with LaRoche still on the roster... At best, you can afford one outfielder at this point. A declining Span coming back to the AL Central doesn't quite make you a legit contender, either. Need one more big bat and possibly Ramirez returning for one year to SS or another bullpen piece. IMHO, the two trades signal a big signing.
  24. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:20 PM) Really don't think Puig will end up costing a top of the line prospect anymore. I don't see us getting him. Would've thought if we were, he would've been in this deal. Maybe I'm wrong but I think I heard someone say if he's dealt it's closer to ST.
