  1. I realize the Sox will not actually get Rendon, but you find a way to get a perennial MVP candidate into your lineup. Next season's FA class outside of Betts, Springer, Simmons, Semien, Realmuto, Bauer, Ray the pickings are pretty slim
  2. It does fill a hole though. It adds a legitimate veteran superstar to the organization who is in his prime right as we are looking to contend. You cannot trade for a player like Rendon, you either have to develop them or blow your wad in free agency. This is the time for the Sox to sack up and pay a star after missing badly on Machado. Move Moncada to RF, Madrigal goes to 2B, Robert in CF and enjoy the fireworks. It would easily be one of the strongest White Sox lineups ever.
  3. I keep Madrigal at 2B because he's a better defender there than Moncada, and he's young/cheap, which allows for money to be spent elsewhere. If you deal Madrigal under your suggestion, that opens up a hole we need to fill in RF right away. I'd rather keep the inexpensive young player at this stage. This lineup has a ton of potential: 3B Rendon SS Anderson 2B Madrigal 1B Abreu LF Jimenez CF Robert RF Moncada C Grandal DH ?
  4. I think it has to due with how terrible last offseason was. The pressure is certainly turned up for the Sox to improve the team, because it cannot all happen in the 2021 offseason. We need 3-4 multi year quality pieces to build with, and Grandal checks one box there.
  5. I like Moncada too, but Rendon could change the outlook of the entire rebuild for the Sox. 3B Rendon SS Anderson 2B Madrigal 1B Abreu LF Jimenez CF Robert RF Moncada C Grandal DH ? That lineup absolutely has the potential to make noise in the American League. Mix in some pitching and we absolutely can win the central, if not truly contend. I get this will not actually happen, but this is exactly the roll of the dice that could pay off with a trip to the ALCS or beyond.
  6. Could Tsutsugo potentially be a low cost answer to DH and platoon RF? Could kill two birds with one stone. I really think we need to acquire a real DH and RF option. Even adding an Edwin Encarnacion would be a huge upgrade over the crap at DH we have trotted out there.
  7. Darvish does have a full no trade clause, which should be noted
  8. If the Sox were heavy on Machado, why would they not be interested in Rendon, who is arguably much better? I'd offer 7/225 all day to Rendon. There is no player that would help our club more in this free agency, or next more than him, or potentially Betts. Eventually this team has to sack up and start acting like a big boy, the time is now. Overpay if you have to, because Rendon is a safe bet to rake for the next 5 years.
  9. Honestly, if the Sox ink Rendon do we really care what happens with Madrigal? Shift Moncada back to 2B and I'd look to deal Madrigal for pitching or RF? I really like Madrigal as a prospect, and think he can be a solid 2-3 WAR guy each season, but Rendon is an absolute stud who can anchor a championship roster. He changes your entire offense, and the lineup would be intimidating with Robert/Moncada/Grandal/Rendon/Abreu/Jimenez/DH/RF. Sprinkle in some pitching and that is a team that can win the AL Central.
  10. I could be wrong, but I thought Rendon rejected a 7/210 offer by Washington, right? Do not love moving Moncada off of 3B, but adding Rendon would be such a game changer for our offense.
  11. If he's cheap, I'm on board. Smaller market teams are the ones who should roll the dice on a player like this.
  12. The K% rate is alarming, and would only likely rise against MLB pitching. Would he be a better option than Kole Calhoun? I'm not sure
  13. He's going to leverage Ryu's 5.3 WAR (Fangraphs) 2019 into as much $$$$ as possible, both in terms of years and dollars. While sitting here now, 3/65 might sound right, I know his agent has much higher aspirations.
  14. I do not think the Sox are in on MBum, but I do they they would try to drive up the price for Minnesota.
  15. With the way this pitching market has been shaping up, Keuchel might be able to squeeze a four year deal out of a team. I'd have to imagine his asking price will be $18-20 million per.
  16. Do Sox fans realize the asking price for Ryu and Bum is currently exorbitant? Boras will get Ryu a 4/110 deal out of a pitching starved team, and given the injuries I'm not sure we should roll the dice on that.
  17. Ryu is a Boras client, so you know he's going to drag negotiations out and leverage his strong 2019 into a four year agreement for big dollars. Boras is smart and know this is a pitching starved market. Do not be surprised if the asking price for Ryu is 4/$110 million like spotrac suggests. That is a gigantic risk considering his injury history.
  18. Sox would be wise to approach Giolito/Moncada/Robert about early extensions. Pitching is getting more and more expensive in free agency, and will likely only continue to do so.
  19. I'm really happy we at least managed to land Grandal, a legitimate quality free agent. We tried our best for Wheeler, but family does play a factor on decision day.
  20. Four years for Ryu would be crazy town, he will be 33 years old in march and has an extensive injury history. I think Ryu gets three years because of how good he was in 2019, but fingers crossed he remains able to stay on the mound. 3/60 ish is a reasonable ask in this market
  21. Cole to the Angels would not exactly be a shocking position. Rumors that the Angels would pay nearly any price to ink him have been around for months.
  22. I do not think the Sox are in on Bumgarner, and for good reason. He’s a quality #3-4, but wants to be paid like a #2 for the next 4-5 years. We are better off looking into other options.
  23. No way I give Bumgarner $100 million. Max I’d go is 4 years, $80 million. Anymore than that would be a huge overpayment.
  24. This is not the end of the world, so long as the Sox have strong contingency plans. Our whole offseason does not revolve around Wheeer, but they had better pivot to other quality options quickly.
  25. I’d rather have Joc than Calhoun, but not by a gigantic amount since each would only be in one year deals. hypothetically we add Grandal, Joc/Calhoun, Encarnacion, we will have added a ton of pop to our lineup and also retained future financial flexibility. Sprinkle in Wheeler plus a solid backend starter and a pen arm and we are cooking in 2020.
