  1. Ohhh well it isnt like we didnt copy a million other colleges/businesses/organizations with this either..all is well if it is going to a good cause..but the cubs still suck
  2. by the way, could someone please remind me again when Soxfest is?
  3. Wow really...so we are ready to pay up I guess..
  4. Yeah I bet it is hard being a Packer fan with these Bears fans here. I'm a Panthers fan soo I dont get too much backlash, being as I dont really post too much stuff about them on these boards anyway. Hopefully I get to go to Chicago soon, my grandparents live in Decatur, so maybe I'll drive up there this Summer for a weekend series like you were mentioning. How do you go about getting tickets for a single weekend series? Thanks Capn.
  5. Yeah that guy is at every Carolina Football game I do know that, I went to the game in Gainesville this year and saw him there. But I'm not really sure what his name is off hand, but there is another guy who Capn is referring to "Baseline Jesus" that probally would be very close by the man with the hard hat. You will notice him because he's either heckling someone very loudly or he has his like 50 year old Carolina towel that he carries around everywhere. Yeah, Im from Lexington and I'm going to USC now, I was just wondering because I found it odd that someone actually was an interested fan of the White Sox in the state of South Carolina; we are few and far between.
  6. Helll yes... they definately got screwed in the polls again this year though, but we should be going on another 16-19 game winning streak again this year and move up to 1 or 2 sometime this year.. By the way Capn., I know I've asked you this before, but where are you from again?
  7. Me too, as of right now I dont plan on making the trip from SC to Chicago any time soon..I'll pay for shipping too..and maybe something extra
  8. Can these only be bought at Soxfest.?
  9. Damnit soo is there any chance we get Castillo bc i dont feel like reading the 6 or 7 page thread on it just to be let down. Is it just speculation because the Marlins said they would be interested in trading him or is there really "talks" going on here.
  10. Wow I didn't even realize how good this deal was for Cleveland until you mentioned it. Wasn't he making like something outrageous with the Phillies, like over 10 mil. a year right.
  11. Apparently all the rumors were true..if this has been posted or doesnt belong here then move it or delete it or something. If Millwood is healthy this year then I believe this can be very big news for them. CLEVELAND -- Concerned about Kevin Millwood's elbow, the Cleveland Indians structured his $7 million contract in a way to protect the team financially if the right-hander gets hurt while pitching next season. Under the innovative deal with agent Scott Boras, Millwood will be guaranteed $3 million in salary. He also gets a $4 million signing bonus, but that money is contingent on him not spending more than 20 days on the disabled list for a shoulder or elbow injury sustained while pitching -- not fielding or batting. Millwood also can earn an additional $1 million in performance bonuses, getting the full amount if he makes 34 starts or pitches 215 innings. If Millwood spends 21 or more days on the DL for an injury to his shoulder or elbow sustained while pitching, he would lose 1/183rd of the signing bonus for each day on the DL, including the first 20. That reduction calculates to $21,857 per day. Indians general manager Mark Shapiro would not comment on any specifics of the contract Friday. "It's a deal where the player and team are sharing equal risk," he said. The structure is somewhat along the lines of the $40 million, four-year deal Boras negotiated last offseason between catcher Ivan Rodriguez and the Detroit Tigers, which allows the team to make a termination payment and void remaining salaries if he goes on the DL for a lumbar spine injury for specified days. Millwood, 30, has pitched more than 200 innings four times in his career and would earn a $250,000 bonus for making 29 starts or reaching 185 innings. He would get another $250,000 each for 31 starts or 195 innings, 33 starts or 205 innings and 34 starts or 215 innings. The signing will end months of frustration for the Indians, who had come up short during free agency in their quest to add a quality pitcher to their starting staff. Millwood will slide nicely into the No. 3 spot behind C.C. Sabathia and Jake Westbrook and ahead of Cliff Lee and Scott Elarton or Jason Davis. Millwood, who made $11 million last season, has won more than 17 games three times in his career. In 2002, his first season with the Phillies, he went 18-8 with a 3.24 ERA. Last season, he was just 9-6 with a 4.85 ERA in 25 starts, but only two after hurting his right elbow. AP NEWS The Associated Press News Service
  12. Well I seem to be in the minority here and im not really sure about him at San Fran. , but i thought he was more of a "productive" type of player now; instead of the power hitter most of us saw, but I may be wrong. Anyways, I have missed Ray-Ray ever since he went to the A's, one of favorite sox players of all time, maybe because he looks like 2-Pac or something..
  13. He just asked about magglio, but he asked the same question twice on consecutive days and they called him out on it..it was pretty funny.
  14. lol Did you guys here this Joey kid...Typical Cubs fan. :banghead
  15. Don't worry its just Yankees stuff now...man have I had enough of them for the past week to last a lifetime..And it will only get worse with Beltran..
  16. Thanks Fla..are you guys getting this same Carlos Beltran stuff that I am???
  17. HELL YESSSS... I thought he would be another player to fade away....GREAT JOB KENNY.....this makes up for my car breaking down on me today..
  18. I want in. I want in. P.S. Merry Christmas Eve (JESUS)
  19. Sounds like a damn good idea to me... , it is weird his name hasn't really been mentioned, but he would come cheap and would be a damn good 3 or 4 on our staff...
  20. But see with that, KW has to know we are in desperate need for a solid starter and have been for a good 2 or 3 years now, hell we haven't had a solid 1-5 since God knows when. I wonder if this is more of dickhead Jerry's decision, more so than it is KW's. I guess we will see what happens.. But yes I do agree with you, if we can't find a decent pitcher to fill that huge hole, and it is KW decision to save the money, then yes he should be fired. My fear is, they may be thinking we can just tread water in our division until June/July and then sign someone, and I think we all know the odds are against the Sox for doing that. It's funny that we went into this offseason with one major problem, pitching, and now we may have found ourselves with 2 problems. Number 1 still being pitching and now number 2 we dont really know where a lot of the offense is going to come from., we are in need of about 5 breakout seasons from our guys.
  21. Say we do pocket this extra 6 or 7 million we picked up from the C. Lee deal. Is it June when the trade deadline is, i cant think right now for some reason. Who can we go after, if we are even still in the hunt for the Central by that time? I know we have to sign a pitcher during that time if we dont get one now, but who would be available? Who is the best player we could "trade for and sign to a deal" that is going to be dealt during the trading deadline?
  22. I agree with Dylan and Soxfan, this a huggge risk to take on this guy.. If we were to give up Garland + Marte and one of our top prospects; the guy needs to be a "shut down" pitcher with no chance for an "off-year". We would still have to fill a 5th starter's spot after this, and with what money? I say just get Clement/Lowe or whoever else and have our pitching filled out, with a significantly better bullpen.
  23. True..but I read on someone's post of an article where Kenny would have no problem in dealing with a Boras client, if the price was right. And, I know the market for Lowe could not be near 30mil over 3 years. hmm...maybe a "below-average" E.R.A. but his win/loss was still 17-7, granted he was pitching for the Boston offense. The year before that, wasn't he up for the CY young or am i just remembering someone else. Clement on the other hand has only had 2 seasons where his record was above .500. What the hell just get a some starting pictching, but I personally would prefer Lowe above Clement.
  24. 10 mil. a year for Clement, I say nooo way. Why does everyone have such a hard-on for this guy anyway Why not go after Lowe. He would cost less and would be better. Just because he had one bad year last year, he is a better picther than Clement. He has pitched in the American League the whole time and has far bettter numbers than Clement, who has pitched in National league the whole time.. Say NO to Clement, escecially at that crazy price..
