Always nice to make other teams pay for their mistakes.

Mauer is a very good hitter, he'll be worth the money until the end. I'm not serious about the Sox getting him, Minnesota wouldn't let him leave for a division rival.

It's hard to pay too much money for a .900 OPS

What do you think we'd have to give Minnesota to get Mauer? I'm not being serious when I ask that.

Latos and Q are on the same roids... or the Sox are juicing up their gun

you know what I mean... it would definitely be a violation of the social contract between her, on a stretcher, and Mat Latos, the holder a small hard ball.

What if Mat Latos just snapped and a threw a 90 mph heater right at that lady's head? How would everyone react?

CINCO DE MAYO GAME THREAD: BOS @ SOX
Gotta give Jackson some more time, its not like the Sox have someone burning a hole in their pocket in AAA to play in CF anyways. It always seems like, especially in the AL, the Sox automatic outs are just automatic-out-ier than other teams automatic outs.

MLB will never side against Boston unless it is painfully obvious.

Seems like it was the abyss that looked at Avi, and Avi who looked back at the abyss. Guy was on the absolute brink yet here he is.

Danks DFA'd
Yup, this was my fear. I'm not sure the Sox have anything better than Danks in their system... of course the only way they were going to find out for sure is if they jettisoned Danks and gave other guys a chance. I dont have too much faith in Turner.

This is the kind of loss that teams are just going to have. Just like the Weaver loss there are times when you think the Sox have the advantage on paper but the opposing pitcher either has the Sox number, the Sox aren't scoring, or the Sox starter wont pitch well enough to win. This game was a bit of all three, oh well. The Sox have still gone 9-3 against an absolutely brutal run of very good opponents. --But dont call Rodon "unlucky." That's a load of crap, he lost control of his pitches for long stretches and that hanger he left up to Ortiz that got crushed was anything but unlucky. If Rodon wants to start games in the postseason he has to improve, the Sox gave him an early lead and he just could not make the pitches he needed to make to preserve it.

I think the Sands thing has kind of run its course. He had a few big hits I guess.

Blind Hawk has a better feel for fly balls than Benetti does.

Rodon pitches better when he's angry. Someone should piss him off before games.

The Sox do this every single game. They get an early lead, either hold it or lose it, then tack on a couple late runs. They do this almost like clockwork.

Maybe you're right, and I have no problem with them feeling that way about '17, '18 and so on... but THIS YEAR they should probably be thinking elsewhere. If he does figure it out GREAT! you can never have too many arms in the postseason, but if he doesn't your ass is covered.

I've kind of figured out the pattern of these Sox games: 1st inning: EARLY RUNS 2-6 inning: NO RUNS 7-9 inning: INSURANCE RUNS it suits our pitching staff well, but they no matter how good they look early the bats always seem to die. except Lawrie, who is a walk machine.

I think long term hes gonna be fine, but these inning he has are pretty brutal. You want Rodon starting playoff games? He's got a long way to go for that.
