QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 07:23 PM) De Aza batting second against a LHP? Are we determined to never have a man on base for Abreu? Robin must hate Conor. Or, he's just an idiot.

Jose: "I hit that ball well." - nodding his head. Lol

Buck should have challenged that. Abreu did not have his foot on the base. -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 08:10 PM) Then you gotta send someone down. Just wait another couple weeks. Right, just cut his ass from the squad. DFA. HE GONE. Whatever you call it. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 08:11 PM) Never say zero percent . Oh s***, don't tell me there's a chance. -

Gord0n doesn't even look like he cares at this point. Is there a reason we are still forced to watch him? Honestly, why not bring up Semien or whoever now to get a few more at bats. Do you have to wait for September? I just don't understand the thinking. He has a 0% chance of being on the team next year, right? Please, someone help me out. -

I've never seen anyone get screwed at the plate more than Alejandro De Aza. Not even close. -
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 09:53 PM) I'm waitin for the League to come down on them for throwing baseball games. Think I can get a refund of my Sox -155 if they do?

Hawk says to Steve, "I can't take this s*** no more. Take over."

I'll be glad to never hear that infernal walk-up music followed by a weak popout.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 17, 2014 -> 01:46 PM) Anybody else think we are likely looking at our third baseman for the next 5 years or so? I like Conor at the plate a lot. He struggles at 3B sometimes though and doesn't have much range. I think he plays every day, but maybe at DH sometimes next year. We'll have to see what Hahn does with the roster, as we will lose 2 DH with Paul and Dunn. I think it will give us a lot of flexibility which will be nice.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 17, 2014 -> 01:21 PM) Nieto didn't lay his leg down until the ball was in his glove. Exactly. And isn't that how that stupid rule is written? It might be the worst rule in all of sports, and that's saying something.

Harrelson, predictably, taken to task by media
1dog replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Oh noes, the liberal PC police have spoken. And someone is (gasp)....offended! Please, a moment of silence for those offended. Let me add a couple more pieces - http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/big-league-s...-225628385.html http://deadspin.com/hawk-harrelson-should-...ns-a-1562071103 So he's sexist, racist, and misogynistic. It's great that people can be labeled so easily. If players that grew up in a certain region of the world, throw a baseball in a different manner than players where you're from, you are not allowed to make this point out loud. If you do, you are a racist. I used to love Hawk more than I do now. I think he's getting up there in age and is not as good as he used to be. Many of these points have been made here. But to label him like these articles did is just not truthful. Look up the definition of those words and ask yourself if you think Hawk is any of these things. Rough around the edges, perhaps. Not as politically correct as most people on TV are, sure. But racist, sexist, and misogynistic? No way. Gimme a break. -
I wanted to copy/paste something that I had written in the game thread here too. Thought others might feel the same way. Ya know, I think rules like those in sports just make it hard to actually be a fanatic. You feel good when they get the out at home, but then in the back of your mind - will they review this and call some blocking the plate BS when he was easily out and the placement of his foot had no bearing on the play? Same thing in football now, a DB breaks up a play over the middle with a good hit and.......ref throws the flag for "hitting him too hard." Even though there was no malicious intent, guy aimed for the midsection, but the WR lowered his head at the end....or there was no helmet contact at all and the ref just blew the call, as they often do. Just tough to watch and actually root for your team like you used to. I understand the need to keep players safe, but it might hurt sports in the long run.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) ugh i just wanna throw something right now. If i was RV, i think I would of been more animated. Ha, I was just going to joke that Robin should have also thrown his hat. And played the game under protest or some s***. (I have no idea how that works.)
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 04:53 PM) They need to re-write the rule right away. I don't think it's actually prevented any collisions. Instead, it's just given teams runs when they shouldn't have gotten them. How that is not obvious to absolutely everyone by this point, I have no goddamn idea. I have seen it in other games and knew it would eventually happen to the Sox. Lol Dunn. Good try, good effort.
-
If there's no contact, he can't be safe. Major League Baseball is just flat out embarrassing themselves with this s***.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 04:38 PM) If he's safe, Im gonna go ballistic So will Hawk. This rule is ridiculous.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 03:59 PM) Dunn gave up on it and it short hopped the wall. It wasn't easy by any stretch, but a competent outfielder would have made the catch I would say you put that as nicely as possible. Even Dunn, if he takes 2 more steps and reaches out, makes the catch. Instead he turns around and watches it land 10 feet short of the wall on the track, then waddles back, picks up the ball, and flips it in. A competent outfielder makes that play over 95% of the time.
-
Pretty sure Q didn't touch 1B there. It was close though.
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 12:23 AM) I don't. Sale already can't get the win. There is no incentive to win this game anymore. So you're only pulling for meaningless stats from our best pitcher? I don't understand.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 10:12 PM) Sandoval is so out of shape. In his best shape in years according to what Stone said earlier.
-
Hawk learnin' us on some English. Doesn't know the difference between a noun and adjective, of course.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 09:24 PM) Dunn can do it all. Hit, get on base, play DH, 1B, pitch, play RF... And after 42 more games...HE GONE
