  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 10:27 AM) Of course, those who defend Garcia and his hitting Beckham or Garcia up in the order (leaving nobody to get on base when Eaton's out for Abreu) is, who do you put there? Alexei Ramirez? Well, he's more comfortable in that #5-6 RBI position. Conor? He's not much of a threat on the basepaths, at all. DeAza...well, maybe, but certainly not against LHP. The having to be a "threat on the base paths" to bat higher in the order doesn't really make a lot of sense. Yes, you would like the guys batting 1 and 2 to have some speed, but the most important thing has to be their ability to actually GET ON BASE. Bat Conor second, for f***'s sake, it's not that tough. Or, just this... QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 10:28 AM) Literally any other position player. It's not hard
  2. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 06:18 PM) Just got back from the game, left in the 8th as it was boring as f*** and wanted to do something else with the rest of the afternoon besides get stuck in a traffic jam on the way home. I had a great seat just slightly to the 1B side of home plate and close, Row 20 total, not just that section. Was probably 80 feet from home plate. Body language of the Sox pregame seemed normal to me I was hanging out by the dugout although one thing I notice when I watch the Sox in person is they don't have a lot of guys that like to get the "extra work" in before the games. The mariners guys seemed to be a little more active pregame but who knows, this is just a small sliver into their routines take it fwiw. The ball De Aza lost in the sun is 100% Jordan Danks fault. Danks failed to take charge on an earlier play that Viciedo almost lost. Danks is a natural CF and if he's not going to safe runs with the glove he has no business in Chicago. Again, just my observation but from home plate it surely looked like off the bat Jordan could have made the play. The f***ing music at Safeco is intolerable. My goodness not a moment's peace. It's actually even worse than most other stadiums including the Cell and NYS. Citi Field and Baltimore I remember as pretty bad too. Watched Cano turn a couple double plays effortlessly. His footwork around the bag is a thing of beauty. I will give Gordon credit he made an amazing play ranging to his right to save a run. I think most 2B maybe knock that ball down but I don't think many throw him out. Great reactions from Gordon. Too bad he can't hit a lick. DFA please. Jose looked awful his first 3 times up. Missed the single. Nobody around me thought De Aza would be called out. How in the world did they over turn that? Was it clear in HD or something? Sox only come to Seattle one time a year, it's a shame. At least the weather was nice today. Otherwise a very boring game, Danks pitched OK but the M's lineup sucks. Cool, thanks for the report, even though the game kinda sucked. If the Sox have anyone out of the lineup (especially Eaton), they seem to look really bad. Going to games is awesome because you get to pick what you watch - outfield alignment, etc. Too bad about the music, that s*** annoys me too. It just seems like the people that are in charge of that stuff can't be baseball fans - same at basketball games. Hell, the Miami Heat PA announcer is unbearable even watching on TV. From the WGN feed, it looked like De Aza was out to me, although it was not perfectly clear. From the shot they showed, the 1B's foot was slightly in the way, but you could see the tag and then his hand hit the bag. I just went back and looked at the Mariners broadcast and it's pretty clear when you combine the 2 views. And Jose didn't look any better on his seeing-eye single - it was weak and just out of Cano's reach, and he probably could have made the play if he would've dove.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) Hawk saying he loved the 3-0 green light last night is funny. Does he not remember that Beckham hit a weak grounder that the SS botched? I laughed. Hawk giving Robin advice on Gord0n. Look the f*** out.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 10:29 PM) Conor's lack of range showing up already on the first play he's at 3rd. As I said last night, I wonder if his recent defensive play is making the Sox question his long-term role with the team. Proving you wrong there! But yes, I agree, he's pretty terrible at 3rd.
  5. Gord0n Beckham needs to go somewhere else, and really f***in fast.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 08:52 PM) Just saw the Sox lineup. Having the two worst hitters in the lineup against a LHP batting in front of Abreu is crazy. Robin Ventura knows how to set a lineup.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 08:30 PM) I had to rewind because I thought he said "pitch"; in context, that makes zero sense. Ha, can I get some context? I have been watching, but sometimes I tune him out because of the inane repetitiveness.
  8. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 04:20 PM) The answer is Jordan Danks.. Unfortunately, no, it's not. I've seen him play. But I get your point, there just don't seem to be many good options.
  9. Does Hawk not realize he says the same goddamn thing about Beckham every f***ing year? It's getting old, Hawk. Suck on dem stones some more.
  10. Hawk, tell Billy Beane what's up. You were such a good GM. Lol f*** sabermetrics, it's all about that TWTW.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 10:18 PM) What the hell happened to Eaton already? He and Avisail are a recipe for disaster on the same roster...will keep Herm Schneider busy at least. Pulled up right outta the box on the first at bat in the game. You could see he and Avisail were destined to be on the DL multiple times after the first few games this year. Eaton dove into 1B like 3 times and Garcia was awkward in the OF
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 09:59 PM) Was he getting chased around Bridgeport by a hot blond model? Actually the only similarity is they both hurt their back today. And maybe, they both try hard.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 10:11 PM) Tank! Takes out a perfect pitch opposite field. Look out. Maybe he can get more intelligent? We can dream.
  14. War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothin! and Happy Gilmore Lol
  15. Hawk and Wimpy must have jet lag, they thought it wasn't an error by the SS, and that Leury is gonna be a good MLB player.
  16. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 11:29 PM) Jesus christ. In case anyone is wondering, tonight's 0-3 makes Leury the single worst hitter in the majors (min. 100 PA) in wRC+ at 13, 379th of 379. I was actually, thanks. I almost said something about the worst hitter in baseball leading off, but didn't really have anything to back it up. Robin Ventura is one hell of a manager.
  17. Can someone tell me what Hawk was referring to a couple innings ago when he was talking about Alexei Ramirez? Something happened before last season and that contributed to why he was not himself, etc.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 06:52 PM) Leury is fast! Lead him off! Forget the fact he can't get on base! Robin Ventura, ladies and gentlemen.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 10:35 PM) OMG, what a great game! Tyler Flowers, you deserve some postgame beer! I'm starting to respect Tyler Flowers. He never quit this season! f***in A. I'll buy him a beer, he saved me like 1k for not allowing that wild pitch to get past and for the runner to score to make it 10-9. I stupidly bet sox runline. Woohoo
