  1. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) The guy's kid is 9 years old, guys. That's why I gave good options! Bars .... wait ..... No, that's why I said renting a bike and going up and down the bike path on lake shore drive would be perfect. Cheap and you see the whole city. Also water taxi. cheap and see the whole city. And after building up a thirst they can head to the pink monkey and a bar. Perfect for kids!
  2. QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 11:13 PM) As a fellow out of towner, I suggest taking the "L". I'm sure there is a station by your hotel, just make sure to plan ahead. Me, for example: I get to Chicago via Amtrak, so I take Clinton (blue) to Jackson and switch to the red line and get off at Sox-35th. Cell has great food, but it is pricey. For the money I'm going to drop for a polish with onion (which, btw, is the greatest thing ever), a souvenir soda, helmet nachos, you're better off just eating ahead of time. Check out the two blue seats where Pods, and Konerko's homers landed. The statues, the shower. And just have fun. I love the Cell. A lot of people s*** on it, but its my favourite park. And I've been to big crowds, and small crowds and its always fun to be at. I know that seemed like rambling, but I hope it helped. This was a good reply. It really depends on your budget, where you're staying, and flight times. But personally I'd recommend taking the "L" into the city instead of a cab. Will save you a ton of money. Easy to navigate either with a little research or asking a "friendly" face on the train. Will drop you off in the Loop. Would stay down there so you can knock off a bunch of things all at once. Pizza like everybody says is kind of the thing to do. Just avoid Uno's. Go with Giordanos, Ginos East or Lou's -- or the Sox sponsor pizza Beggars -- great pizza IMO. All have locations in the loop. If you are looking to go and explore a little bit theres a place called Pequods in Lincoln Park that is really great too. Since you are on time constraints, I'd say just take a stroll down to Millenium Park/Lake Shore Drive. Maybe rent a bike, they're relatively cheap and just ride up and down the bike path. You can ride it down to Soldier Field and the museum district all the way up north past the beaches and up to even where Wrigley Field is. Really cool, cheap option to explore the city. You'll get to see beaches, blue water on one side and the Loop and tall buildings on the other. Another option is the Architectural tour. I think its like $35, but takes you down the Chicago River and gives you the history. A cheaper, tour free option, just jump on a water taxi - they are just a few bucks, no narration on buildings, but the view is cool. I'd also recommend taking the L down to the game, but getting off a stop early and walking through China Town, maybe even grab some food. There's a ton more to do, but being on time constraints I just listed cheaper Loop options. Around the park? Tailgate. Looking for a bar? A few blocks away is Cork and Kerry. One of my personal favorites, nothing too special about it, but I like. Drink a Revolution beer or Half Acre, local craft beer here. While you're at it, go to the Craft beer section to get your drinks at Comiskey, skip getting Miller Lite. Get a Polish, Extra Onion as your food option. All the rest are good, but nothing that cant be beat outside of the park for less cost.
  3. The Donaldson letting up a tying home run was the "old Sox team" All we do is win win win in Chi-town! Let's get 2 of 3 -- hell sweep the Cubbies into the break! I'll be in the bleachers tomorrow.. Go Go Sox!
  4. 5 years ago I bought myself a #15 Gordon Beckham 1959 Jersey. This was after I bought a #30 Nick Swisher jersey a year or so before. That turned out awful. So I decided to go with the 1959 "nameless" jersey. All I can say is, I can't wait for Carson Fulmer to come up and rock #15. In the in between time - I have the coolest Tadahito Iguchi jersey ever. Beckham. Puke.
  5. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 02:34 PM) Samardzija: 4.34 runs/game Sale: 4.175 runs/game Danks: 3.454 runs/game Quintana: 2.605 runs/game (Kluber and Hamels are the only two to get worse) WOW. I was completely wrong. I take it back. Must be one of those where it sticks in your mind more where you lose 2-1. Also, nice back up by RA Dickey there. We NEED to get a run or two here! Don't stop now boys!
  6. Does anybody have the stats of run support for each pitcher? Seems like Danks gets more than anybody -- and that Sale, Q, and Shark get the least. Just hard to watch us shut down such a hot offense and always be down 0-1.
  7. Who didn't see that coming? The bottom of the order is like the bermuda triangle. It's hard to watch. I don't get how it seems like Sanchez and Beckham always have RBI opportunities!
  8. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 01:49 PM) http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...rlos-sanchez-2b I don't trust those articles. They had the same one about sticking with Micah and the next day Sanchez was up. Over the past few days there's been noise about Micah which I don't think is by accident. Sanchez' offense has been terrible for a month, but now the articles are creeping in. I foresee Micah starting with the team out of the ASG break.
  9. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) Boni batted .130 in ST and is currently batting .151. I fail to see how he should get a shot at 2B. Track record. He's played and started or played a lot of games over the past 4-5 years across the MLB. IF --- and this is a big if, if we are trying to win NOW. Like give this one last go round before we wave the white flag for the playoffs this year, then I think it's smart to give him a shot. His D is better than Micah. His bat is better than Sanchez. 192/.240/.230 (45 OPS+) That's our line at 2B this year ... I understand they are "prospects" and the Sox want to give them a shot -- but I say let the guy who gives us the best chance to win today get his shot. And then we are really out of it, back to Micah/Sanchez.
  10. I'm torn on this topic. Obviously the upside to Sanchez is his defense. How many double plays has he turned that Micah wouldn't have? How many balls has he snagged that Micah wouldn't have? How many saved runs has he had on defensecompared to how many runs have we let up with him at the plate instead of Micah? Also, Emilio has been awful? I don't know if I agree with that thought process. Last year he had 430AB, 26 SB, was able to play around the field, etc. The year before he had 460AB, 28SB, year before 30SB, the year before 40SB -- you get my point in a way. Basically since 2011 he's averaged 400AB a year with other MLB teams .... why do the Sox find him so worthless when our combined 2B stats are .192BA?? I don't get how he hasn't got an extended look there yet ....I actually think he gives us the best chance to win at 2B, he's not one of the polar opposites in Sanchez (great D, terrible O) or Johnson (okay O, terrible D). My opinion -- let Emilio get a look at 2B, keep Sanchez up, let him rest and recoup. Maybe try Sanchez one more time near the end of July if Emilio isn't working out --- or as Emilio is gaining trade value --- and then if Sanchez doesn't seize that opportunity let's hope that Micah has learned some fundamentals on D.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) The rotation alone had plenty of post-season experience (club had made the playoffs in 2000 and still had some guys from that roster, including Garland / Buehrle / Konerko). Then you had AJP / Dye / Carl Everett / Big Hurt (albeit he was hurt) as regular position players. Other pitchers with experience included Jose Contreras, Frederico, El Duque, Luis Vizcaino, and Dustin Hermanson. So if we are talking about this years team. We can name Danks, Robertson, Shark (Kind of, on the bench of a one game), Alexei, Melky, LaRoche. Looking at Melky he has been on good teams. He would be our most seasoned winner. On some good Yankees teams, 91 win team in ATL, lost in the 1st round, and then a good SF team in 2012 too. WS champs I believe. So I totally missed on him. But you get my point a bit I hope. Again, I'm not dumb. I know its defense primarily that hurts this team. Offense that hasn't clicked yet too. But I dont think leadership and history of winning, knowing how to win, and how to play through bad stretches should be overlooked.
  12. Who is our captain then? Sale for the pitchers... Who for the bats? No Konerko anymore. You can say that for the Astros and Rays -- but I'd be willing to say neither will be in the playoffs.
  13. I was talking with a friend today -- I'm not one of those you have to have TWTW guys. But who on this team has won, knows how to win, and when things are going bad can be a leader in the clubhouse and fix it? Or get people back on track... Abreu -- no experience in the MLB winning Sanchez/Micah -- nope Alexei -- been on a mediocre team for almost a decade. Here and there seasons isn't consistent winning Gillaspie/Beckham -- nope Melky -- Toronto wasn't exactly tearing it up ... has been on a few good teams. But consistent? Eaton -- Nope Garcia -- call up for the Tigers on a good team.. but ... not really. LaRoche -- not sure -- I know he was on the Nats. Braves? Probably were solid when he was there.. Not sure about the AZ teams -- he probably though is the best example for the bats. Sale -- nope Quintana - nope Shark -- nope Danks -- nope Rodon -- nope Duke -- nope Roberston -- was on some good Yankees teams -- but not heyday Yankees.. he is probably the closest thing to it... So again, I'm not saying TWTW is the only way to win. I'm just saying this team when facing adversity looks to who? Robin? Who has never been a successful manager -- unless we are talking year one -- and he failed down the stretch there. How do you win, when nobody on the whole team knows how to?
  14. Avi at 3rd? Come on boys. I know we are awful. But what does that fix? If we are going off on the crazy train, why not put Abreu at 3rd as Robin hinted at earlier. Supposedly he's played there before and hasn't been terrible in Cuba. IF, IF we are going insane, then we switch him to 3B, LaRoche to 1B, and DH Garcia or Melky. Move Shuck into the OF, maybe get some more time for Bonaficio. Not saying that makes us any better of a team -- just saying if we are going off the crazy rails, do something that makes a little more sense.
  15. I know that we are 15-2 when we score at least 3 runs and don't have any errors. This game wouldn't apply. However, still, those aren't crazy stats. You'd think we'd score 4 runs and have no errors in more than 17 games this year of 72 played
  16. I know he's a righty, not a lefty like Jennings. But Aardsma posted an ERA in the 2's in AAA and lead the league in saves. Released by the Dodgers yesterday. Seems like he could slot in and do well.
  17. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 11:17 PM) Jennings didn't cost the Sox the game. No? I could have sworn he gets the loss... Offense lost it. Jennings shouldn't be in there. Robin lost it. Jennings lost it. For Christ sakes. What's the definition of insanity again. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting diffeeent results. See melky. See Jennings. See flowers. My lord. It's sad
  18. What's the logic in keeping a fresh robertson on the bench? Everybody could see jennings blowing that from a mile away. So gosh darn frustrating. Should win that game. Now we should go turn on ranger on the post game and he'll explain why it's not robins fault. I hate this team. Could have ended the road series 6-5 going back home to play a detroit team who has lost 7 on a row. But watch now. They sweep us. That's who we are. Thank god for the blackhawks.
  19. Looked live avi was grimacing as he was running in after the inning. Have a feeling after commercial he might be out again. Or at least he's not close to 100%
  20. Give me shuck in the outfield and avi at dh while Abreu is out. Please. I can't take this.
  21. Why must we suck every first inning? Why must we play like we do? Why must we not field well? Why must we not be patient at the plate? I hate this team.
  22. It really is true though ... it does get over-exaggerated in terms of safety around the park. The Sox could probably increase attendance with a PR campaign focusing on the parks and bars around the park rather than the team, ha.
