we ain't going to get dick from Viz. This game is going to be a major struggle. Get Cotts. He's going to have to go a couple of innings. Might consider sending Viz down and trying Baj We've got two righties in the pen -- Viz and Shingo -- who can't be trusted.

These are the kinds of game Ozzie has struggled with, games that require bullpen management over four innings. Couple of times he has nearly run out of pitchers. We can't use Shingo. So he needs to try to get an inning from Viz. then one from Cotts. And then mix and match Marte, Cliff and Hermie over the last two. But getting one from Viz would be huge.

Maybe we can talk Todd Ritchie out of retirement and trade him back to the Pirates for Wells, Fogg and Sean Lowe.

I don't think we have anybody in the minors close to helping. Baj in the pen, but nobody as a starter.

Adkins has allowed 95 hits in 69 innings at Charlotte. You want him in the rotation?

Adkins ain't the answer. And Baj ain't a starter. KW may have to go get somebody from a team that is looking to dump salary. No need to panic, but it's time to start looking.

BMac figures to turn out fine eventually. probably will They're just asking him to do something he isn't ready for -- be a consistent starter on a team in a pennant race. Why torch his confidence when it isn't necessary?

Remember this: Garland had better numbers in the minors than McCarthy -- and at a higher level. Look how long it took him to figure it out. BMac has ability, but a year ago this time he was pitching at Class A ball. He needs about 150-200 innings of seasoning in the minors. he ain't the answer for a pennant race.

this is dangerous. I'm all for trying to get BMac the win -- but I'm even more for the Sox getting a win. I would have had Cotts in the game for Stairs.

everybody knew there was no way El Duque could start 35 times this year. He's probably 40 years old. He's been hurt every year. With all the days off in June (every Thursday) they should have been giving him extra rest all along. He's a very good clutch pitcher. We need to ride this out. We'll need him in August and September.

Weaver loves to throw at Sox hitters. He was involved in the 2000 brawl with the Tigers. With a national TV audience and the Dodgers in a funk, this game could be entertaining.

haven't seen enough consistent evidence Rogowski has big-league power. he needs to play most of the seaon at AA and then spend time at AAA.
