  1. and lost in the euphoria A VICTORY FOR WILLIAM KOCH, RIGHT? Smelling salts for me
  2. tied for first, I believe.
  3. ugly but effective and damn nice
  4. swung at a bad pitch for 2-1
  5. harris needs to steal second here
  6. blum should have caught that ball it wasn't that high. take it, though
  7. rather be lucky than good. damn our baserunning is sloppy
  8. Hawk just dropped a grenade in Mariotti's fox hole. gave a shoutout to J.J. Mariotti. Why J.J.? Jay for Jayson Blair, the New York Times plagirist, Jack Kelly, the fired USA Today plagirist
  9. Miguel earns his keep again.
  10. just need to stay close and get into the Tampa bullpen by the 7th or so. hope Zambrano walks a few
  11. crowd looking a little lite, especially in the outfield
  12. Just noticed that Jeremy Reed has missed two consecutive games for Charlotte and that Brian Anderson has missed a few for Winston Salem. Both have had problems with their wrists. Any word if either guy is seriously injured?
  13. except Bernie Williams, of course.
  14. Schoenweis doesn't appear to be fooling anybody
  15. Gload is a huge improvement over Daubach, who is the guy he replaced. cheaper. more versatile. I'd like to see him at first base a little more. they say he can really field.
  16. hate to ever let Tony Clark even touch first base. he might be the worst hitting first baseman in mlb
  17. Matsui, Clark, Cairo ugggghhhhhhhhh
  18. can live with a 3-4 record against the Evil Empire. 2-5 with a homefield sweep would be tough to take. Let's try to play one game without seeing freaking Rivera
  19. Just a few notes to keep the troops up after a shutout by rag-armed Paul Abbott(who pulled the same garbage in the 2000 playoffs). *Jeremy Reed has already surged into the top 10 in hitting in the International League. He's tied for 7th at .400 with an OBP of .436. Not showing much power, but he's third in the league in hits. *Felix Diaz leads the league in ERA (0.00) and wins (two, tied with Jon Rauch). Showing pinpoint control, too. *Ryan Meaux moved out of the pen and into the rotation for Birmingham last night. The results were dazzling. Eight innings, 2 hits, 8 Ks. *And Robert Valido looks like he can handle the jump to Kannapolis just fine. He's hitting .296 while playing shortstop. Like to see Reed get a full season at Triple A, but if the dude keeps hitting like this he's got to come up at some point.
  20. let's see if the physical fitness nut is healthy to pitch 200-plus innings for all FOUR years of his deal. My guess: No way. Didn't say he wasn't a good pitcher. Said he wasn't worth a four-year investment, considering his age, how many innings he has already thrown and his total lack of attention to conditioning. that's all. It's a business, not Little League.
  21. when Jimenez learns to act as if he cares, I'll learn to act as if I care that he's gone. A thousand Yankees, Padres and White Sox can't be wrong. Good freakin riddance. Ted Washington has more lateral range.
  22. hey, we'll get one or two draft picks for the Big Fart -- and he didn't do enough to deserve a four-year deal.
