There was a two-year stretch when the Sox took a ton of pitchers -- Ginter, Parque, Purvis, Stumm, Wright, Buehrle, Rauch, Majewski, Wells, Fogg and probably others I am forgetting. We gave up on Wells too soon and got nothing for him. Parque was rushed and then was injured. Purvis, Stumm, Wright and Rauch have all had major arm problems. Fogg is fading fast. Ginter is more potential than production. Majewski is a fringe prospect the Sox have given up on a couple of times, but he keeps coming back. Buehrle is all they have to really show for all those picks. Part of it is simply baseball. There's nothing harder than developing quality big-league pitchers. Part of it is too much unnecessary hype.

one thing the Sox don't need is a late-inning loss against the Twinkies. Twinkies play with tremendous confidence against the sox, as if they believe they can turn it on and win whenever they please -- like the last five games of last season.
