  1. not good to be playing in the Twinkie Dome without Willie. We need all the speedy legs we can find in that hell hole.
  2. Schueler was the general manager during that time. But he wasn't the farm director. I believe that was Mr. Williams. There was a two-year stretch when the Sox took a ton of pitchers -- Ginter, Parque, Purvis, Stumm, Wright, Buehrle, Rauch, Majewski, Wells, Fogg and probably others I am forgetting. We gave up on Wells too soon and got nothing for him. Parque was rushed and then was injured. Purvis, Stumm, Wright and Rauch have all had major arm problems. Fogg is fading fast. Ginter is more potential than production. Majewski is a fringe prospect the Sox have given up on a couple of times, but he keeps coming back. Buehrle is all they have to really show for all those picks. Part of it is simply baseball. There's nothing harder than developing quality big-league pitchers. Part of it is too much unnecessary hype.
  3. more often than not, the teams that win in September and October think pitch first, hit second. get another veteran arm.
  4. sounds as if he tried to pitch through pain and injuries -- and ended up making the situation worse. Hard to understand why this wasn't discovered earlier, especially when he complained about pain last season. all the best to Danny. Hope he makes it back.
  5. word last week was that he had TWO sore wrists. his lack of power - no home runs yet, I believe -- seem to indicate that. I know he's not a big HR guy, but in that park he should have a few by now. he'll be fine.
  6. beltran is an absurd dream Sox fans would be better off avoiding. He'll want wayyyy too much money. Boston and New York will never let it happen. And JR won't even consider it because his agent is Darth Vader. Aaron Guiel, maybe. Carlos Beltran. No way
  7. brooks boyer said that was going to be the new intro also said there would be more during the game entertainment like The Bucket Boys, who allegedly performed last night
  8. Diaz was solid for four. He deserves another chance or two. If he flops, who should be the next option: A) Cotts; B) Munoz or C) Josh Stewart?
  9. what new? Twins beat the Sox for the SIXTH STRAIGHT TIME AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I hate the twins I admire the twins I hate the twins I admire the twins ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  10. one time willie make yourself a hero
  11. willie is getting better every week
  12. how hard is nathan throwing?
  13. willie battlin how about a ball in the dirt and why can't win steal any bases on Blanco
  14. one time willie one freakin time
  15. walks are acceptable
  16. let's get some freakin runs. and maybe a walk or two no Everyday Eddie and no LaTroy their bullpen was supposed to be weaker than the last three seasons
  17. walks,walks, walks
  18. one thing the Sox don't need is a late-inning loss against the Twinkies. Twinkies play with tremendous confidence against the sox, as if they believe they can turn it on and win whenever they please -- like the last five games of last season. So Koch has to stand tall this weekend. If he does that, he'll get the love. His velocity ain't what it used to be so he needs to show he understands how to trick hitters and command the strike zone. If he doesn't, the b**** fest will resume.
  19. the word around the Charlotte clubhouse was that Wright is not 100 percent. gotta be something wrong -- physically and mentally -- because he's not getting anybody out.
  20. the official line on Danny Boy today 3 1/3 innings 8 hits 10 runs 8 earned runs 2 walks 2 strike outs 2 ding dongs Actually, there is good news. He lowered his ERA from 40.50 to 28.69
  21. it's overdue to move him to the pen. Rauch pitched last night -- and not well. Couldn't make it out of the fifth against a bad hitting team (although Austin Kearns and Jason LaRue were in the lineup). Time is running out on both those guys. And Borchard missed all four games in the series with a back problem.
  22. it appears that Danny Boy remains in his big-time funk. don't have all the details, but he started for the Knights today and they were smashed by Louisville 12-3. Louisville scored 6 in the second, two in the third, two more in the fourth. can't be good. His AAA ERA before the game was 40.50 -- and it might not have gone down. Came also included a bench-clearing brawl after Stephen Smitherman was thrown out at home. More details later.
  23. JB and Eldred carried us in the first half of 2000 any word on Mike Sirotka? Is he still trying to come back or has he given up?
  24. trade for Kip Wells.
  25. Cubs can do NO wrong. Don't ever forget that. It's nirvana over there.
