It's time to send Wright into the bullpen. His only chance to make it in the majors is as a closer or set up man. That was he can get by on two pitches. Lots of solid closers were failed starters -- Foulke, Gagne, Eckersley, Hawkins. Not saying he can be as good as ANY of those guys. But he's got NO future as a starter in the big leagues.

with Reed, Anderson, Sweeney, Nanita, Young and King, the Sox have other options. Love to see Borchard make it, but what is disturbing is that he is getting worse, not better, during his third season in AAA. Hard to see how that projects to a solid big-league player. FYI -- Brian Anderson has flamed on at Winston Salem. After languishing around .200, he got his average over .290 and has been on base 20 times in the last 10 games.

Raise your hand if you want to go into the playoffs with Koch as your closer. NO WAY! Guillen says what he says because he's trying to pump Koch up -- and he knows he doesn't have a better alternative. But ... if that ball would have gotten past Uribe last night, 99 percent of us would have been ready to run Koch out of town. And the first time he pulls one of his wild thing appearances and loses a big game against the Twinkies, the outrage will be monstrous. Yes, Koch is the closer. But, no, the Sox aren't going to do anything meaningful until either Koch improves or the Sox find a better option.

the record is good, and I'm not convinced this team is really playing close to its best ball yet. I would, however, feel much better with an upgrade at closer.
