  1. Sox play in THE sadsack division of baseball. And they've won it one time since baseball went to the three-division format. They act as if the sky is falling financially every day. players frequently leave town b****ing about management's lies and deceptions. The fan base has been consistently alienated, which is reflected in the attendance. They haven't won a post-season game since 1993 and haven't won a post-season series since 1917. Other than that, everything is great.
  2. Amen, brother, amen all the sox can sell is hope, the future, prospects. And we've all heard that tune before -- and know that when Reed, Buehrle, Garland, Crede, Anderson, Cotts and all the others get their chance, they'll get outta town, too. It's sad
  3. Damn, we're looking at fourth place now.
  4. exactly right on Borchard. He's never been able to shorten his swing to put the ball in play. The most disturbing thing about his career is that his command of the strike zone got worse, not better, during his second season at AAA. That suggests that pitchers figured out how to adjust to him, but Borchard could not adjust to pitchers. That's not a good sign. Anderson, from what I've read, will never have the power or athleticism of Borchard, but he has a chance to end up being a better baseball player. And from what I've read about Reed, the prospect mavens never fawned over him because he does not have extraordinary tools. But he can hit and it certainly seems like he knows how to play the game. Take a guy like that ANY TIME. Bring him on. Jeremy Reed's arrival could be the most exciting thing we have to look forward to this summer.
  5. Don't count the Giants outta the Maddux sweepstakes. And I agree: He'll stay in the NL. He relies too much on his knowledge of the hitters.
  6. The Chattanooga LookOuts Look out Southern League
  7. And the Sox were weak at Charlotte and Birmingham with position players. VERY WEAK
  8. trying to get everybody pumped over Gload, Olivo, Diaz and the other all-stars about to strike fear into Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium, Edison Field and Safeco Field.
  9. Minny 86-76 KC 82-80 Sox 77-85. another unnecessary whiff in the weakest division in beisbol
  10. relax everybody Jon Adkins is going to save the day
  11. Don't tease me this way. No way Trump would stand back and let the Cubs' PR dominance continue. He'd play to win and wipe away the negative images of the JR regime.\
  12. No contest between Maggs and Hildalgo. better numbers for maggs and Hildalgo sure looks like a guy who has a tendency to put on weight. But considering the background between KW and Dodgers' GM Danny Evans, I had a tough time seeing Evans doing a deal with the potential to make the Sox look good.
  13. If you believe a story in today's Houston Chronicle, more doors are closing on KW. It sez that the Dodgers are now looking to add Richard Hildalgo from Houston for their extra bat. And Houston is anxious to dump his contract. If LA gets Hildalgo, you have to wonder how much interest they would continue to have in either A) Maggs or B) PK.
  14. hoping the BA list arrives by the end of the week or early next week they're cut back from top 15 to top 10 this year. And you have to buy their prospect book to get the Top 30. It won't be out until February -- with Joltin' Joe Mauer on the cover.
  15. Cubs chase Maddux and Pudge, after reeling in Hawkins, Walker, Lee and Barrett. And the Sox get this guy. There's not really much to say.
  16. munoz is an oversight on my part. He'll be in the Top 10. Chris Young is a 20-year-old outfielder from Houston. Played well at Bristol last summer. hit .290 with a .357 on base percentage. decent power 18 doubles and 7 Hrs in 238 at bats. Also stole 21 of 28 bases. 6-1, 170, so you figure he will fill out. A big year for him as he makes the jump to full season low a ball at Kannapolis you have to figure he's three years away. With Young, Sweeney, Anderson, Nanita, Reed, Borchard Spidale and Brice, you have to hope the Sox can develop a solid pair of outfielders from that group in the next three years.
  17. is this the same Mike Jackson who's been around and around and around -- cleveland and everywhere else
  18. The sox list should be out later this week or early next week. Here is my top 10 prediction: 1. Jeremy Reed. 2. Kris Honel 3. Neal Cotts 4. felix diaz 5. Ryan Wing 6. Brian Anderson 7. Chris Young 8. Enemencio Pacheco 9. Robert Valido 10. Ruddy Yan Just a feeling they will ignore Borchard (too many big league at bats) and Rauch.
  19. Uribe has more upside -- and downside. to me, the most curious thing about this trade is simply this: At the press conference when KW sacked Jerry Manuel he talked endlessly about wanting a team with GRINDERS. Miles sure seems to be a Grinder Deluxe. I wouldn't classify Uribe as a grinder. And, coincidentally, what other grinders have the Sox added? Jason Grilli? Robert Person? Cliff Politte? Herm Schneider is going to have a full plate this season -- a season that is certainly shaping up as a -- cough -- grind.
  20. knowing our luck in recent years, I fully expect Miles to bust outta the block blasting the ball. People will immediately ask: How could the Sox get rid of THAT guy? But over time, I agree with Rex: He's not a long-time blg-league regular, especially with the glove.
  21. IT'S January 13th -- and all is already lost!!
  22. no on Rocky he was brutal the last two months after NL hitters figured him out. his only value is long relief
  23. i predict they'll really save face and not include him on the list beecaue he's been in the bigs twice and has more than 200 career major league at bats. just a guess
  24. Agreed. Damien Moss would give up 30-plus homers at Comiskey
  25. Only thing I see that is different is no mention of the Dodgers giving the Sox Perez or Mota. Better be getting either Jackson or Miller plus another solid prospect for Paulie, no matter how bad he was last season.
