Just read ESPN.com front page
hasn't Selig told them to wrap it up by Thursday. If the White Sox weren't involved, I wouldn't care. Let it drag on. It's been great publicity for Baseball, bumping the NFL off the lead story on sports center several nights.

Dan Patrick says Nomar to Sox is done
There will always be an outfielder who falls through the cracks. Much easier to find a corner outfielder than a SS. And we could always upgrade in the outfield in june or july. KEEP NOMAR
-
Maggs-Nomar swapped, pending A-rod
another vote to keep nomar. shortstops like him don't come around often. And we need some freakin star power to compete with You Know WHo
-
KW doing this to screw Evans??
If KW should dislike anybody it's Billy Beane -- or whomever the guy at Pittsburgh was who shipped him todd ritchie

Maggs-Nomar swapped, pending A-rod
Has anything OFFICIAL been announced at all?
-
Who replaces Maggs
i'd prefer Huff lefty younger hungrier not injury prone or as much of a complainer

Maggs-Nomar swapped, pending A-rod
is this official or still simply media speculation from unnamed sources? and if we deal Nomar to LA we'd better get more than Odalis Perez, Mota and a 19-yearold pitcher. Does this make the outfield Lee, Rowand and Borchard. Or Lee, Reed and Rowand? We got some major, major run production to replace.

The way money is going right now...
can we send Barry/Berry back to the Dodgers. Maybe they miss him
-
flubs get barrett
wonder if that takes the Cubs outta the I-Rod sweepstakes. hope so Actually, I think Damian Miller is a solid player. A bit lite with the stick, but he's a decent catcher.
-
Someone help me out here.
he did. but the rumor is that he took the smaller contract there (a contract the sox couldn't give him) so Montreal can deal him back to The Cell for prospects. Believe this at your own risk.
-
rumor
If we are indeed dealing Magglio, I'm all for getting Boston to bid against the Dodgers, Yankees and anybody else eager to spend money. Still say our Number One problem will be replacing the quality innings delivered by Bartolo last season. He might not have won as many games as we would have liked, but he was certainly capable of giving the bullpen some needed down time.
-
Surprises?
There's a bit of risk involved there, though. we won't be the only one to bid for him. and the flow of players seems to be away from 35th and Dan Ryan not towards The Cell. At some point, the Sox need to make a smart move to energize the environment.

Gammons Winter Meet.Update
just checking the espn.com shopping list, Todd Ritchie is an available free agent. he'd be cheap And he owes us!!!!!!!!

The Dreaded "R-Word"
What are we rebuilding from The division has gone from the control of Cleveland to the control of the Twinkies with the Royals closing fast. somehow the Sox Era got skipped.
-
Suppan to Cardinals, Spiezio gone
that would be my guess. Bad Vlad seems headed to Balty, where the Orioles have joined the arms race with the Yankees and Red Sox. They're short on pitching, but they are spending.

Grilli? Our Diamond in the rough of 04?
it's possible, I guess, because the Marlins have been flush with pitchers. But it's a long, long shot. Rauch is indeed the biggest mystery around. Sox don't say a WORD about him. Never considered bringing him up after rushing him the year before. No report that he's playing winter ball. It's very, very strange.
-
Scott Sullivan
Sully Lekskanic grimsley MacDougal not bad. not sure what they have on the left side. Lloyd?
-
Grilli? Our Diamond in the rough of 04?
Grilli has been a big tease for a long time. got $1.8 million to sign from the Giants. was the plum the Giants dangled to get Livan Hernandez. can't throw strikes and can't stay healthy. I think we've got a better shot getting positive results outta James Baldwin.

If We trade Maggs
Juan Gone is way gone from his prime breaks down every year. rarely plays hard. bails out on teams. Texas told him to take a hike last year. FuhgetaboutJuan. rather see the Sox play a young guy and spend the money on a pitcher. last thing we need is an IDon'tGiveAShirt right fielder.
-
Suppan to Cardinals, Spiezio gone
yep. all of our free agents except Robbie have signed, I think Colon == angels Graff, Sully == Royals Everett == Expos. Flash == Yankees Robbie = = ????? We got nuttin

Suppan to Cardinals, Spiezio gone
sportscenter reporting Suppan getting a two-year deal with Cardinals. And that Spiezio is bound for Florida And roberto Hernandez to Philly. And that Baltimore believes it can convince Ponson to return. Not a word about the White Sox. Not one. looks like we'll be counting on Arnie Munoz, Matt Ginter and Jeremy Reed for juice.
-
Report: Sox May Have Signed Ponson
And I take it the offer didn't inspire him to fly to Chicago and ask for a pen?

I just heard on Seattle radio...
Dick Allen was 30 when he came to the Sox for the 1972 season and had driven in 90 runs with a slugging percentage of .468 the previous year for the Dodgers. Dick Allen had at least 430 at bats every season and had over 500 in 5 out of 8 years before turning his life over to Chuck Tanner. He also played first base. Gonzo is 34. He is an outfielder. He hasn't had 350 at bats in either of the last two seasons. The Rangers told him to get lost last year. There's got to be a better idea.

Dustin Mohr traded to SF
Dustan Mohr, who always seems to punish the White Sox and is the guy who broke Benjie Molina's hand on the brutal slide into home plate, was sent to San Francisco for a player to be named later. Damn, if the Twins can't even afford to keep scrappers like him, they really must be tightening the screws on the checkbook. Bet Jerry admires the hell out of Pohlad.

Draft Picks, Prospects, and other fairy tails
as long as the suspect is prospects, there is a great note in the latest issue of Baseball America. In 1986 the Twins top prospect was ... Billy Beane. The Sox top prospect was ... Kenny Williams. In fact, BA said the Kenny Williams could be a Kirk Gibson-level offensive player and that "no prospect in the game can match Williams' combination of strength and speed." So if the Sox deal Maggs, we have the answer: Kenny Williams is going to play Kenny Williams in right field.
