  1. good news caballo hustled, stole bases, improved in the field and never complained (at least publicly) He's young enough where he could still improve a bit. Nice to have some good news
  2. When can I order my post-season tickets?
  3. The Sox lead the league in rebuilding. but strangely nothing good ever gets built. and whenever we have some solid veterans to build around, free agency comes along and -- presto chango -- out da door they go. Foulke, Durham, Ventura, Roberto Hernandez, now Maggs. On and on and on. Funn how that works. "Rebuld' is just a marketing carrot management uses to keep selling tickets. Rebuilding is for San Diego, Detroit or Pittsburgh. A team in one of the largest markets in the country shouldn't be in a constant rebuild/dismantle cycle -- especially with nuttin to show for it.
  4. I agree. Only problem with that would be that if KW already gave the Red Sox his word, he probably has to follow through on the original deal. Otherwise, he's cooked for trying to make future deals because he'll be viewed as somebody you can't trust.
  5. Rick Mo speaks mostly truth. the mojo of this team is all negative. You think it's just a coincidence that guys like Graff and Sully leave Chicago to go to freakin KC? Not Boston. Not L.A. Not Atlanta. Not SF. Not even somewhere closer to home, a place they used to play or somewhere with nice weather. Kansas City? Think about that. Me thinks the players, like the fans, don't care for management either. Fisk, Ventura, Black Jack, Foulke and once upon a time even Ozzie -- how many have left with parting shots at management? Until JR sells the team, we're only going to be running in place.
  6. Prefer Jason Johnson over Moss. If you worried about Cotts' control, Moss makes Cotts look like Curt Schilling. He had more walks than Ks last season. And he also allowed about 20 more hits than innings pitched. No thanks. Johnson is older, but he'd be functional as a Number 4 or 5 starter, capable of eating 175-200 innings. At, of course, the Right price, the only price we pay
  7. and then are the Sox keeping or dealing Nomar?
  8. roll the dice with Koch. no Roger Cedeno. No. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. for us out of towners, could somebody deliver a one or two paragraph update on where everythng stands this morning? Please.
  10. But Diaz? Surely, they could find something more topical than that. Please.
  11. Red Sox site posts a release on the trade White Sox site posts a feature story on Felix Diaz. Nuff said.
  12. Not sure Maggs luvs Chicago so much that he would rush back. Isn't he big budds with A Rod, working out with him in Miami during the off season. gotta figure that is part of this. and Boston will luv the guy to death once it sees that personality wise he is the anit-Manny.
  13. somehow, the trade WILL go down. I think the union is just posturing, trying to protect the players and not wanting any more owners to get the idea that if they give somebody a stupid A Rod contract they can fix the mistake by proposing a trade and leaning on the player to change the deal. Remember, the players union is undefeated. They don't give in on ANYTHING. I think the Red Sox enjoy the drama, pounding out headline after headline after headline. Hell, the first 15 minutes on Sports Center were about baseball today. When was the last time that happened on Dec. 17? But they'll have to find a way to make this work because Texas can't be stuck with ARod now, Nomar won't want to play in Boston and Maggs has to figure he's out da door here. My guess: They'll take it to the wire tomorrow and then the players union will have somebody at the press conference making it look like they saved the day and the trade.
  14. Jeremy Reed!!!! Enjoy him NOW!! He'll be in Fenway by 2010!!!!
  15. i hope you're right. and if they are monitoring, they should know that a lot of folks really like Ordonez, appreciate the fact that he played hard and sometimes hurt for six seasons and that they'd better not deal him for scraps, which is what we'd be left with if we send Nomar on to L.A. A major Maggs' fan
  16. rebuild so the next Maggs we can develop can leave after six season? Probably so
  17. no. That's now how I understand it. We trade Maggs we end up with either A) Nomar and Williamson or B)Williamson, Perez, Mota and Miller (if that's the 19-year-old lefty ranked the Dodgers' No. 2 prospect).
  18. just wondering. I was pretty amazed that a Boston owner would post. But also impressed. Showed the guy is in tune with modern communication and sees the value of taking a second to make contact with his customers -- something I can't imagine JR ever doing. But that's just me.
  19. you're not the only one. Perez is at best a Number Three starter, perhaps Number Four. He ain't worth Maggs -- or Nomar. Not even close. and remember, no matter how high they pile up extra junk, it's still junk. Melido Perez, Eddie Perez, Odalis Perez, no Perez for Maggs for me
  20. Dunno if anybody saw the story, but the AP reported today that at 430 or so this morning Boston owner John Henry logged onto the most popular Red Sox message board -- SonofSamHorn.com -- and asked fans not to give up on the ARod/Manny trade. AP said it truly was him. it's also the same board that Schilling admitted that he chatted on for several hours before he decided to go to Boston. I know Bajenaru and Cotts have been on this board. Anybody know if any big-shot members of Planet White Sox make the rounds the way folks apparently do in Bean Town? Can't imagine JR loggin on and checkin in.
  21. if we hose the Dodgers by plucking Nomar, my hunch is they're not going to trade anybody to us. especially a pitcher for an overpaid first baseman who would create very little buzz in L.A. because long-time Dodger fans view Konerko was one of their old overhyped prospects. Mix in the Evans/KW relationship and I just don't see any Sox/LA deal.
  22. Dear Nomar: You know you'll enjoy it here. No Curse. No media hordes. No Yankees to trump your every move. No fans jumping off buildings after every three game losing streak. A much easier division to win to get you to October. Try it. You'll like it.
  23. all i have to say is this: If we lose Magglio and then trade Nomar and have nothing to show for it except Odalis Perez, Mota and another overhyped Dodgers prospect (does the name Paul Konerko ring a bell? Dodgers prospects are always, always overblown). then i'm going to be major league pissed off. Ordonez is the best home grown outfielder this organization has produced in many, many years. He's durable as hell. He's a solid outfielder. His power numbers are outstanding. He can hit for average. He's consistent. We'd better damn well get value for him.
  24. The best point made is the White Sox have the upper hand. They HAVe to deal Nomar after they get ARod. And they HAVE to get a run producer in the outifield to replace Manny. That's Magglio. So there is absolutely no reason to give them Cotts or Wright. Hell, give them Ginter or Adkins. C'mon Kenny, the Red Sox are flush with money and every other advantage. Their fans are expectin Magglio. You gotta get the best of this deal.
