Is this what being a Sox fan means?
dusty this, dusty that. Prior this, prior that. sammy, wood, Ramirez, Lofton (LOFTON, the guy who dogged it through May and June and July with the Sox), blah, blah, belushi, Hillary, Eddie Vedder, George Will, Charlie Gibson, Billy Corgan and on and on and on. Sox fans have to swallow gallons of Cubs s*** wherever they live. the national media is obsessed with Cub fans, Wrigley, Bendict Arnold Harry Caray, Ernie Banks, Ron Santo, Ryne Sandberg and all the other Cubs BS -- even while the franchise is gouging its own sheep-like fans in a ticket scam. Most people don't know -- and certainly don't care -- that the Sox kicked their butts last summer. So, HELL YES, we are entitled to celebrate like hell when they lose. 'Cause they damn sure would have rubbed it in our noses for the rest of our lives. Soon we can get back to Jeremy Reed, re-signing Bartolo, announcing the new manager and spring training 2004. But until then PARTY FREAKIN ON

Cubs
Do you believe in curses NOW, Dusty? Hell, you couldn't even beat Jerry Manuel
-
I know one thing
me, too. but cubs' fans wouldn't have NO sympathy for us, so I got NONE for them. choke of the century. and they're not even champions of the Chicago. Lost four of six to the Sox. talk to me NOW, cubbies

Gload and Pacheco
no reason to keep Gload AND Daubach. they're the same player, aren't they? Gload will be a bunch cheaper, happy to be in the big leagues and reluctant to b**** that he should be playing more. and, hell, he might even deliver an occasional pinch hit. Boston sure seems to be doing all right without Daubach.

Go Florida
i'd take the World Series. case closed.

Backman called Gardenhire during Twins-Sox series
I realize the Chicago papers are obsessed with Cubbie Mania, but hopefully they will soon have time -- like tomorrow -- to find out if this story about Backman is totally legit. hope somebody saw it 'cause we ain't been gettin much news about the new manager. Sox fans want to read about their team, too, not just Wrigleyville.

Go Florida
how many innings out of Beckett? One more? two at most? how tight are those throat passages getting in Wrigleyville?

Go Florida
matt anderson would be a good pickup for another organization. The tigers mishandled him -- and I don't think they have good minor league instruction. He might be a bust, but his arm is so good that he's worth the risk. Put the guy with the right pitching coach -- and he might be able to help your team. I'm convinced a team like Oakland -- with Rick Peterson -- could get something out of him.

The 10 White Sox Prospects I'm excited about
isn't Durham a six-year minor-leaguer? I believe he'll be gone as a minor league free agent after this season ordinary outfielder no pop. only an average hitter in the minors He gawn as far as I can tell

Go Florida
if things stay as they are, the Sox can start a marketing campaign for 2004: White Sox Baseball We might break your heart -- but we don't cut that sucker out and stomp it dead!!!!!!

Gload and Pacheco
Stumm? I think the Sox left him exposed last year and nobody took him. interesting that majewski and Hankins are both in the AFL and not protected (if that is indeed the case).
-
Gload and Pacheco
can anybody advise which players are the most valuable or promising ones who are being exposed to the Rule Five Draft? be interesting to see the names

News and Notes from Baseball Weekly
1 -- if the upgraded offer to Bartolo is indeed true, let him walk if he doesn't sign immediately. He ain't that good. I also wonder how Loaiza and Buehrle are going to react if Bartolo is making more than both of them combined. 2 -- Buddy Bell does nothing for me -- or the Sox. Two-time washout I'm intrigued by Yount -- and hope Ozzie gets a legit look. As for Cito, I'm lukewarm. I wonder why NO other team has given him a chance since he left the Jays. Something must be up.

Backman called Gardenhire during Twins-Sox series
Nightengale also seems to talk to KW occasionally. Quotes him on a regular basis. My guess would be that he bounced that one off somebody with the Sox before USA Today sports weekly printed it. Wally's got 'xplainin to do

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!!
even the associated press seems stunned: CHICAGO -- Five outs to go. Wrigley Field crowd on its feet. World Series within their grasp. Then, it was almost as if the baseball gods realized these were the Chicago Cubs. Those lovable losers blew it again thanks in part to -- of all things -- one of their own fans. In a stunning eighth-inning turnaround, the Florida Marlins took advantage of left fielder Moises Alou's run-in with a fan on a foul fly and an error by shortstop Alex Gonzalez to score eight runs in an 8-3 victory Tuesday night, forcing the NL championship series to a Game 7. Mark Prior, Sammy Sosa and the Cubs cruised into the eighth with a 3-0 lead, all set to end their 58-year absence from the World Series. What followed was a stunning collapse that would rival anything in the Cubs' puzzling, painful past. Now, after the Marlins' second straight win in the series, it goes down to Wednesday night. Ace Kerry Wood will pitch for Chicago, while Marlins manager Jack McKeon will go with Mark Redman. The inning began easily enough, with Prior getting the first out. But Juan Pierre doubled, and sheer disaster followed. Luis Castillo lifted a fly down the left-field line and Alou ran toward the brick wall, ready to do anything it took to make the catch. Instead, a man who seemed to be in his 20s, reached up for the ball -- not over the wall, though -- and appeared to deflect the ball away. Left-field umpire Mike Everitt correctly ruled no interference -- unlike 12-year-old Jeffrey Maier in the 1996 ALCS at Yankee Stadium, this fan did not reach into the field of play. Alou slammed his glove in anger, and many fans in the crowd of 39,577 booed and began to pelt the man with debris. Castillo then walked, and the crowd sensed trouble brewing. Ivan Rodriguez hit an RBI single and Miguel Cabrera followed with a grounder in the hole that Gonzalez simply dropped for an error that loaded the bases. Derrek Lee stepped up and hit a drive into the left-field corner, pumping his fist even before he reached first base, and the two-run double tied it. Prior was pulled and Kyle Farnsworth came in and intentionally walked Mike Lowell to load the bases. With the crowd sitting in stunned silence and Prior blankly staring, Jeff Conine hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly. Mike Mordecai broke it open with a three-run double off the wall in left-center, his shot hitting near a splash of red-and-orange ivy, and Pierre added an RBI single. It had to be a haunting reminder for Cubs manager Dusty Baker. Last October, his San Francisco Giants took a big lead into the late innings of Game 6 of the World Series, and wound up losing the game and series to Anaheim. FEAR THE FREAKIN FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Wood is such a stud, the Cubs shouldn't have anything to worry about, right? Stud like him ought to be able to outpitch a scrapper like Redman, who got s***-canned by the Tigers, the 40-something win Tigers. No Cubbie excuses. NONE

Our Hero
And what about the fan who threw the wild pitch and jumped in front of Alex Gonzalez and made him miss the grounder. And they need to be really upset at the fan who gave up the hit to Derek Lee As well as the one to Mordecai. Fan, sham. you gave up 8 runs, not 3, Dusty
