  16. loaiza is the only guy who has been there since April. Without him, this team would have been buried early.
  17. No scheduled off days until Aug. 25 -- before the trip to Yankee Stadium. 14 games in 14 days against the Angels and Rangers -- two teams with losing records. So Cotts figures to start three times (Tuesday, Sunday at Texas and the following Friday against Texas in his home debut) before they can be spaced. I agreed it would be better to separte Buehrle and Cotts. It's simply unfortunate timing that it can't be done now. Only way to change that would be to start Wright instead of Cotts on Sunday. Wright is 1-0 lifetime against Texas, allowing only five hits in nine innings. But first, Cotts has to deliver at least five solid innings tomorrow. Nooo, first Bartolo needs to deliver tonight.
  18. excellent point about the lefties went 3-6 against anaheim last year two losses to Washburn two losses against Schoeneweis one to Percival one to Ortiz. Glover, Osuna and Parque got the wins for the Sox, so we know that has to change. in the six losses outscored by 41 runs. So it was more than simply the 19-0 game. even freakin Julio Ramirez taunted the Sox in that 19-0 stinkbomb clearly some payback is DUE starting tonight
  19. watched every freaking pitch of 19-0 because I couldn't believe the Sox were that bad. That was a Danny Wright special. Schoeneweis pitched for Anaheim. No repeat of that one this year. But the worst thing about that series, I believe, was that the Angels scored 5 runs in the first inning the next night, making it 24-0 over 10 innings. Of course, we all forget that Parque -- PARQUE!!!!! -- beat Sele, 3-2, that last time we played in Anaheim. That was Sele's only decision against the Sox last season. Schoeneweis, for the record, beat the Sox twice last year.
  20. use Wright in the sixth, seventh or eighth. he won't have time to prove he can close until next season. now is not the time to be messing around with that job -- unless the pen melts down. Marte and Gordon can handle the job. But Wright could fill a very critical role as a right-handed setup man. THAT would really help this club
  21. Hummel Adkins Rauch ginter maybe Kohlmeier (once closed for the Orioles) maybe David Sanders Dunno if Josh Stewart is healthy or not. Jamie Burke because a third catcher wouldn't hurt for September. and, of course, Armando Rios don't see Reed coming up. My guess is he'll get some time off and then be one of the five players the Sox are permitted to send to the arizona fall league
  22. make that KEY game is tonight, not keep game. blame it on pennant race jitters.
  23. keep game is tonight we've got the better pitcher who has been throwing extremely well lately. We also have a rested bullpen. Angels in a funk Considering the way the Sox have played on the Left Coast since 2001, a win would be uplifting -- and a perfect way to start the 7-game trip, especially with Cotts making his MLB debut tomorrow and then Washburn throwing for them on Wednesday. feel a lot better if they win this one. Sele has had some decent games against us, especially when he was at Seattle. He's become more of a soft-tosser because of arm trouble, but he still has a big-time curve ball. Like to see how alomar and Everett have done against him.
  24. kudos to cotts. He GAWN from Birmingham and into The Show.
  25. And, if as Farmer has always maintained, Wright moves into the pen and succeeds, the entire pitching staff benefits. hope for the best. Cotts can be for us what Harden has been for Oakland and Gobble has been for KC -- a solid weapon for the stretch drive.
