He also said he very rarely feels overmatched by a pitcher.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 07:25 AM) Kaine came across poorly, but not in a way that can be used going forward (he interrupts a lot?). Pence's performance is attack ad fuel. Show a clip of Kaine making an attack on Trump. Show a clip of Trump saying it. Show a clip of Pence pretending it didn't happen. Relevant. If you had already seen this when you made the post, that's cheating. https://twitter.com/HillaryClinton/status/783645247247114240 Also LMAO at Repubs complaining Kaine interrupted too much.

Well deserved loss for Buck there.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 02:04 PM) This isn't directed at you my guy, but why do people get so pissy about people using tax law to their advantage? Somebody with as much money as Donald Trump shouldn't be paying less in taxes than me and you, period. There's a whole philosophical debate about legal vs. ethical that is pointless to have here, probably. What really bothers me about it, though, is the Republican spin on it. If you have ever s*** on lazy poor people for taking welfare and mooching off society but want to try to paint Trump as a genius for getting away with this, seriously, go f*** yourself.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 04:28 AM) Once again the world conspires against the White Sox right? Funny how that always happens. When the opportunity arrives for us to sell two quality SP....no one is willing to meet our demands, prospects are too highly regarded (ad if they're ever not), or as you suggest the best prospects are in rebuilding organizations. Basically, Boston and LA won't trade any of their premier talent because they don't need to; and the lesser teams won't because they're rebuilding. I'm not going to give Hahn a pass after the trade deadline debacle and neither should any of you should shrug your shoulders and say they're in a really bad situation. Too bad! Make it work Hahn. Whatever he needs to do to trade Q and or Sale for a haul of players to rebuild this team needs to occur. I don't care about "needing two willing people to trade," nope. No more excuses for Hahn. He needs to deeply evaluable every viable prospect and major league player to assemble his trade package. There should be 30+ proposals at his disposal, one for every team. Even those with no chance of considering. This offseason will determine the course of our future, he should be acting as much This post is perfect. I keep looking back to what the Braves got back for Shelby Miller. Their partner in that trade just fired its GM. The Sox don't have to pull off a robbery but at some point we have to think about why we're not trading our pitching assets while teams all around the league are receiving ridiculous prices for theirs. Are we unwilling to do what is necessary, or unable? What's going on. At least we have James Shields.

I liked when he saved his catcher's life.

Hahn and Renteria having the same first name is immediately causing confusion at the press conference. This hire was a mistake.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) We hear things, it doesn't mean it's true. They have been together for most of this century. I would imagine if there was a huge conflict, Hahn would have tried a bit harder for other jobs. Maybe KW got bored with his new role and started meddling. We don't know. I do think KW and JR should let RH generally manage if they make him the GM. If they don't, I don't understand the promotion. KW should make it clear that RH runs the show. If he can't do that, he should either let people know, or he should take a walk. That said, I don't buy Hahn is totally against the bad moves that are made. If he was and he spins for them, he is weak, and you wouldn't want that as a GM anyway. To me it seems obvious there is a power struggle. I wish I could come up with a specific example to strengthen my argument but I got nothing off the top of my head. Maybe Hahn is too proud to walk away even though KW has interfered.. I don't buy the bolded either. Clearly they're both responsible for plenty of mistakes. It would just be better if they were marching to the same beat, and if they can't, somebody has to go.

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) I like when people talk about this two-headed leadership team like you can't do it any other way besides having one guy in charge. But it begs the question why it is that such an arrangement hasn't blown up in the face of the Cubs? It's not that there's anything wrong with having two people in charge, it's that in the specific case of the Sox, there's so much evidence that they're disorganized and/or pulling in opposite directions. Disagreements are one thing, and they're probably even healthy, but some of the weird quotes that have gotten out just make the Sox seem dysfunctional.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 01:36 PM) I didn't quote you as multiple posters were talking about it so don't take it personal. It's just silly she talks s*** about Donald Trump and she's some deity that we have to bow down to. She's not campaigning for her husband who's the President, she's "campaigning" for a woman her husband despises because of their party affiliation. It's really a stretch to say she's campaigning for Clinton when she's really just campaigning against Trump and disparaging him. How novel of her. Donald Trump has 30 years of being a doof anyone with half a brain could campaign against him with no preparation. But hey, the kids are eating tofu so she's the best. For someone who doesn't care about her you sure seem to dislike her a lot.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) They traded Duke. Neither of the 2 top prospects people said Boston had to give the Sox for Sale were available and it went from, if they don't give them to you, then they don't get Sale, to trade Sale now, we must get rid of Sale. Teams get better all the time when they trade their ace. I know they traded Duke. It was such an inconsequential move that I didn't feel it was worth mentioning. Chris Sale was not the only player who might have been traded. I said this like 200 posts ago, it's about messaging. Rick Hahn said the team was mired in mediocrity, and the next week he sent the message that he was just fine with that. Whatever they're doing with this Robin story, if they bring him back, they're sending that message again. Fearlessly. I know you say they are gonna clean house on the roster, but I'll judge next offseason when it's over. This is a bad start. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 12:18 PM) No they are not. But cherry pick stories and embellish to try to fit your narrative. Explain this quote if everything is A-OK "We're mired in mediocrity," Hahn said. "That's not the goal. That's not acceptable. … The goal was to put ourselves in a situation to win a championship, and (being) stuck at .500 or around .500 doesn't do that. "We may well have to adjust and take a longer-term view and take a different approach going forward." A week later, they did nothing at the trade deadline. Whatever the reasons, they did nothing. If you want another case where the message coming out of the front office was inconsistent with its actions - and it seems that's all we've gotten lately - there you go. I don't believe anything they say anymore, from KW on down they have completely devalued their words. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) And I don't see what's so difficult about not holding him the fall guy, and getting on to the problem with the roster. Apparently, they like how Robin handles the team during the time we don't see. Again, if they hired Joe Maddon or anyone else when they hired Robin, and they had the exact same rosters, every single one of them would be considered an idiot right now. If anyone else had been given a shot for five years and this had been the result, you bet I'd want them fired too, and they'd deserve it. Instead I'm supposed to be thankful the team is so fearless. We will see what they do about the roster and I'll take what I can get, but it isn't the only problem. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) If you think the Sox have had the talent the last 4 years, then yes, blame Robin but praise the talent evaluation of RH, KW and JR and Buddy Bell, all the way down. Or, like many of us, you can criticize them all. Robin did not SINGLE-HANDEDLY swing the binary outcome of the Sox making the playoffs or not. That does not mean we should want him to keep managing the team. I don't know what's so difficult about this. -

Yeah that update to the Nightengale piece is a real plate of s***. "Perhaps instead of the White Sox being condemned, they should be praised for their fearlessness, making unpopular personnel decisions to the outside world but revealing their deep loyalty to everyone inside the baseball industry." Holy hell what a paragraph. I can't even. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) But to have Ricketts and Theo available to meet on such quick notice with the press? Hard to imagine Wasn't aware of a press conference, that would make my little conspiracy theory less likely. I thought it just kinda got out there on twitter.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) I doubt the Cubs care one bit about the Sox right now. Also, no way they could arrange the move this quickly with the Nightengale tweet a few hours ago. The deal could have already been finished whenever ago, it's the announcement I think they timed.
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) No I wasnt sure if you really thought so. I guess it could be obvious but they have been talking about giving him an extension for months now and they wait until today to say, you know what lets make this happen and rub it in the Sox face? If they did that its worth a LOL from me cuz thats f***ed up. I might just have tunnel vision but the timing seems too close to be a coincidence. They see it as a marketing opportunity to dejected Sox fans, maybe? "Hey, while the other team is waffling about whether they want to rehire their hated manager, we just extended our front office Golden Boy."
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) LOL Do you think so? Assuming the LOL is because I'm Captain Obvious, and not because you disagree.

The timing of this Theo announcement is 100% intentional with the Robin thing.
