  1. I think it's more likely that the Dodgers dump Crawford for nothing than Ethier. Ethier was actually good for them last year. You guys think LaRoche and an A-baller for Crawford and cash (with Dodgers dumping LaRoche to free agency) get it done?
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 09:01 AM) Dan Szymborski ‏@DSzymborski ZiPS suggests Kershaw would make $45 million a year in free agency right now! And Sale 10/299. Here's the tweet. Right now yes. 4 years from now? No. He'll blow that away.
  3. I'd rather we signed Henderson Alvarez despite him missing the first month or two.
  4. Anyone else think it's possible they deal Q for a great return and then sign someone like Kazmir or Leake or the Japanese pitcher to take his spot? I just think once Cueto and Samardzija sign there won't be too many teams throwing money at these guys (though I guess it's possible Dodgers sign one of those guys then another listed above).
  5. I'm keep tracking in my signature as well. After the QOs were rejected (16 comps), we have the tenth pick, had 3rd pick and 56th pick. Zimmerman signed with Detroit so only our second round spot moved up since the Tigers pick before us. Greinke and Lackey signed with 2 teams giving up first round picks so all three picks move up 2 spots. Remember: Price did not qualify for a qualifying offer. Still 13 guys left who do have a QO attached however.
  6. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) After the Greinke signing, does this give us picks #10 and #30, and #50? 10, 31, 53
  7. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 08:43 PM) Cards now in on Samardzija http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/card...samardzija.html Someone posted that a few hours ago.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:48 PM) Don't the Sox also have a not so terrific defense? That's what I thought when I first read that lol
  9. Still so many solid pitching options available.
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) Not going to lie, I am not a fan of having other teams signings in the White Sox part of the website. I would much rather have them separate like they were before. That would be great if they all stayed there. It's annoying when people post the same comments and links (not just other team news) in multiple threads.
  11. QUOTE (Saufley @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 06:52 PM) So, John Lackey is their big FA SP acquisition?? As of December 4th, yes.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 06:24 PM) Because teams don't see his numbers translating to the MLB. It sounds like he's a Gordon Beckham. All glove, no bat. Still a team could just toss out a blind bid of like 1 mill just in case and if the team accepted it or not ut doesn't mean they have to work out a deal. They'd get the money back as well.
  13. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 06:13 PM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 1m1 minute ago Source: No bids placed by MLB teams on Korean 3B Jae-gyun Hwang. He'll return to Korea this season and hit free agency next offseason. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan Wow I'm a little surprised no one tried.
  14. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 05:31 PM) Sox Inquire on Yankees’ Ivan Nova Happen this at Winter Meetings? http://www.sportsmedia101.com/newyorkyanke...inter-meetings/ If we do this, I seriously hope we're not giving up anything relevant.
  15. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 05:32 PM) I cant wait to read "cubs DFA Baez & Schwarber" If they're not traded before then.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 05:06 PM) That's not how it works any more. The Cubs would lose their 2nd round pick but the White Sox would still be in the compensatory round between 1 and 2. This deal could well make more sense if it's not the only QO'd FA they sign, where they're losing a couple picks and saying heck with it. I think they trade for a starter and then sign Gordon or Heyward.
  17. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) I think everyone agrees on this but I am not certain this move makes them all that much better if this is their added arm. Don't think they're done personally.
  18. Yeah the system is deep enough. They can spare a draft pick this year.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) Long time Sox 3B target for many Soxtalkers. His prospect star has faded, but is still only 24. Played mainly LF last year, so must not be much of a 3B. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Sox take a gamble. Pass
  20. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) The Cubs may very well add a number 2-3 SP via a trade as well. Which will make this signing look even better. Agree. I think they go into Spring Training with one of: Ross, Salazar, Miller or Carrasco who are good still young right handed starters.
  21. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:27 PM) https://twitter.com/ken_rosenthal/status/672902473951158272 Yay I can update my signature.
  22. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) The average AL catcher hit .231 with a .294 OBP in 2015. The line you posted would be just slightly below that average. This lineup can't afford that though I think is his point. It'd be different if this lineup was any good but it's not.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) It was after he had a bad game IIRC. Either way, blocking me after I said my opinion that had literally nothing to do with them seemed childish. Yeah that's dumb.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) It seems like most Sox fans on Twitter are so sensitive and uptight about everything. A person on there blocked me because I called Nate Jones mediocre...lol. He's definitely better than mediocre. Injuries have killed him the past 2 seasons however.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) Sounds like Cubs might be going the hardest after Lackey. I don't think that would be a great fit for them. I think it's decent for them depending on the annual salary. It won't be much and could help them sign Heyward if they choose to go after him. But if it's more than 2 years that can be bad. Granted, if I were them, I wouldn't want to give up a first round draft pick for him either.
