The LaRoche article dug up from 2015
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:17 AM) He turned 36 last month. He is a year younger than John Lackey. That's it? I thought he was older for some reason. Thanks for the info. Still doubt he bounces back significantly though.

The LaRoche article dug up from 2015
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 08:37 AM) LaRoche is definitely a guy who could benefit from a change in scenery. Also recall, even Dunn bounced back pretty big, and he was older as I recall. But the Sox would need to kick in some money, no doubt. It's hard to compare the LaRoche situation to Dunn's since he's what 38 now? He could just be finished.

Why Not Go For It?
I want them to go all in over the next 2 years. If we're in the same position we're in now 2 years from now, blow it up. Get the max return for Sale, Q, Abreu, Eaton and commit to a rebuild.

Why NOT trade Chris Sale?
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 08:21 AM) At least for me, it's hard to compare Sale to the old timers (Walsh, Lyons, Faber, etc) because I never saw those guys play. Not to mention that the game was completely different back then. It's hard to compare guys of today to guys long ago due to the fact back then you had 3 and 4 man rotations and guys used to pitch a whole more. Some guys would even throw double-headers. The kinda stuff you will never see again. Definitely a different game now.

Cubs Working to get Shelby Miller
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) Man they have some dumbass fans Unfortunately every team has fans who think that way. And you would think they'd know better since they had Samardzija in 2014 with like 2 wins over half a season despite pitching better.

The LaRoche article dug up from 2015
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 07:46 AM) Yes but Konerko was the 25th man on a team not trying to contend. Spending your last dollars on Adam LaRoche coming off the season he had would really cause some anger. There are other options for teams with cheaper players with question marks. I think LaRoche can bounce back. I know he is supposed to be good in the clubhouse. I just don't see how another team is going to take more than a million or so, if that, to take him off your hands. In Pitt he could make sense as he could hit 7th playing excellent d. They'd probably have interest but we'd likely have to eat close to 10 million is my guess. Plus he's been there before.

Pirates are the only team that makes sense in my opinion.

White Sox targeting OF Justin Upton
QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) OK, so what does the first 6 spots in your lineup look like, with Hayward? Depends on corresponding moves too (who's gone out of Garcia, LaRoche, Melky?).

Dodgers trade for Aroldis Chapman
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) The incident with Puig happened in a night club so we all know the joys of alcohol. I mean geez, a fight in a night club, go figure. Unheard of haha

Why NOT trade Chris Sale?
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 09:39 PM) No offense to Buehrle, but from a pure talent standpoint, I believe that Sale is much, much better. I'd go as far as to say that Sale is one of the best pitchers to ever wear a White Sox uniform. Yeah Sale is much better than Buehrle but Buehrle was still loved here and very consistent. Plus I loved that Buehrle's starts would be around 2 hours (went to a game once that ended up being about an hour 40 mins haha)

Why NOT trade Chris Sale?
QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 09:35 PM) no offense, but that i do not believe will happen. he will get his money... if he waits and no raises. starting at 30 mil. Oh yeah I know know it won't happen. That would be the only chance. We've been terrible, he took low pay once from us, no reason for him to do us any favors.

Why NOT trade Chris Sale?
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 09:30 PM) If Hahn did plan on extending Sale, what kind of contract would he give him? 7 years and $150 million? Maybe if they could re-work his contract so he makes decent amount more each year the remainder of the current contract and then bought more free agent years on top of it. He has no reason to do them any favors though.

why not go for Brett lawrie?
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) Probably play Olt lol I forgot Freese too actually lol
-
why not go for Brett lawrie?
Angels have joined the race for Lawrie. I seriously don't know what the Sox will do if they don't get him. Sign the Japanese 3B?

Winter Meetings: Predictions
So far the meetings are starting out slow. I think last year there were more trades than like the previous 5 years or so combined (or something crazy like that).

Why NOT trade Chris Sale?
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:28 PM) By far and its not even close. Its funny because Quintana is probably the closest behind Sale with his numbers and extra year of control over Sale.

Sale Talks About His Contract
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:25 PM) I'd possibly put Melky in that tier as well but I agree for the most part. It really is a shame that the rest of the team sucks because the core that the Sox have is absolutely elite. Yeah I'd put him in that last part. "Maybe a couple relievers...and Melky."

White Sox targeting OF Justin Upton
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:16 PM) I just keep assuming the difference between Heyward and Upton is going to be significant. I also figure Cespedes is going to get a contract based upon six months of production, which is tough to gel. Funny thing is, prior to going to the Mets, I thought he'd be a potential value "big contract" but then he blew up and I expect the opposite to happen. Nice thing about Jason and Justin is their relative ages. Annually, I don't think it would be too much more. But He wouldn't be a problem after he opted out around his age 30/31 age season to try and get another 6-7 year deal.

Sale Talks About His Contract
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:13 PM) Agreed. It seems like there is a HUGE gap between the talent levels on the team. Like you said, there are a few guys that are absolutely elite and then the rest are terrible. Agree. If I were a fan of another team and I looked at the Sox roster, outside of the obvious proven (not counting prospects) ones (Sale, Quintana, Rodon, Abreu, Eaton), I wouldn't want anyone else on that roster. Maybe Melky and a couple relievers but that's it.

White Sox targeting OF Justin Upton
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) I'm quietly on the Heyward and Cespedes bandwagon... Me too. Would rather have Cespedes than Upton, but Heyward over Cespedes.

White Sox targeting OF Justin Upton
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:04 PM) How much / what will the difference in cost / years be between Gordon and Upton? Is Upton going to get more money and more years while Gordon provides actual better production (kind of like he has past few years)? I presume Royals are going to ensure they won't be beat. I wanna know what the difference in money is going to be between Upton and Heyward. If you're going to after Upton, might as well pay a little more Heyward with opt outs every year after year 4 or 5 of the deal. I've been pushing that on here for a while.
